Announcement:
Like 30 pages ago I asked everyone if they'd like a 64 player server hosted by the GW2 TL group, and since then we decided we will due to the positive feedback.
As of this morning we pre-purchased the server, and it will be ready to go the day of beta on the 27th. It is located in Chicago.
We will create a seperate thread within 24 hours, as it was universally decided by you guys that having a place TL members could have a reserved slot/vote privledges would be great, so ill need origin names and such.
In the time being ill need people to offer their services as admins. 64 Players is a lot of people to govern. Will create a thread like I said. Send a pm in the meantime if you have experience as an admin on fps servers. I can't do it alone.
Im sure many others will be throwing up a server as well ( the more the merrier), just know you guys here at TL have a home with friendly faces if you need one.
Well probably name it "Team Liquid PUBLIC 64/General Rotation" or something creative.
We'll spend all of our days killing your dudes and cheering on Idra.

Haha nice, i'll gladly play on it if the lag isn't too bad from EU !

a 64-player is a bit excessive, no?

In either case if we find 64 is a bit much we can always scale it down on the fly. In beta I dont think we have but one map, and im not sure it supports 64 players. 64 player servers will shine at launch with the inclusion of the much larger conquest/jet maps.

We're hosting regardless if you are or not, so don't worry about it. I think we're going to host a 32 or at least something smaller than 64. 64 is just chaotic.

Depends who you're playing with. If it's with the average 'LOL I GO SHOOT HIM<<!!!!>">"<!'.. Then yeah it can be awful and way too crowded. If it's with people who have some idea of how to play more tactically then they can be the best servers. All depends on who's playing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As I haven't followed this too closely, is the game open to Mods? I'd love if the Project Reality guys switched their focus over from BF2.

I hope they have maps that support 64, that'd be sick!

64 players is how the BF series is meant to be played. I for one cannot wait to play on your server and I would be willing to be an admin.

do players who pre-ordered the retail version from a shop get to enter the beta on the 27th?
|
I think you have to order it digitally, no?

Initially DICE said "No mods, the tools are too complicated for the players" (not exact quote lol). But recently they are leaving that option open.
Mod tools won't be in Battlefield 3 when we ship it, but I can say this – we have heard the community loud and clear. We are talking about it in the studio. I'm not promising that we're going to do it in any way, but we have heard it, and we'll see what we do in the future.

No, you only get 2 days early access to the beta if you pre ordered a digital copy off of Origin OR bought the Medal of Honor Limited Edition/Tier 1.

omg 64 is amazing. Thats what I play most of the time :D. Can't wait to do it just like in BF2 such fun ^_^

64 slots will be better after beta, but I think through out beta it should be 32 or 16, just to get used to admining. I've admined CS servers and BF2 servers. Completely different ball games. It's hard to learn what you need to know about a game to monitor it properly.
Plus you don't know what kind of glitches will be getting abused when beta is released.

IMO that's kind of the point. Battles aren't supposed to be clean. the battlefield series has always been about chaos and learning how to cope with it in the best way.

You're absolutely right. 64 players is just chaotic fun at its finest.
