The G36C is a sick gun. It's incredibly accurate at close-medium range; even when you're lazy, not tap but auto firing and only slightly correcting for recoil, you'll hit and kill quickly. Only downside is the rather small mag and the speed with which it depletes.

I was doing speed tests and my dl speed was fine. But the problem was the signal was choppy, it would speed up, slow down, stop, speed back up, slow way down ect. So I called my net provider and they noticed that the signal wasnt right either. After a couple different things they replaced my dish (dish LoS to radio tower) and havent had any problems since.

Feels good after completing a round with 22 Javelin Kills on Rush in Kharg Island. People were calling me hacks on both sides, saying that my Javelin shots were imbalanced. Well, you learn that it's the second missile that kills the vehicle while there is a SOFLAM/Laser Designation. Fast trigger fingers doesn't necessarily reward you in that scenario.

The G36C is a very good gun, though I dislike it only because the recoil control is down and to the right, rather than to the left with most guns (pre-patch). Right now, the control is split, so sometimes it's a crapshoot. Of course, the M4A1 is the standard-bearer for the imbalanced Engineer gun, but the AK-74m with Heavy Barrel packs the most punch these days.

I havent unlocked the G36 yet. But I will be working on Engineer class till I do.
|
There's still a lot not working properly. Flares often are bugged, smoke wont work often. Jets dont care about Anti-Air missiles as they dont hit jets in 80% of all cases and still rape everything, Infantry, vehicles and Choppers only fearing other jets and as Chopper you fucked, as AA missiles don't work and the jet can fly so slow, you wont be able to get away =)
Still the issues with the dying behind walls due to lag (if you can call ping 10 lag) which is better now, but still annoying like hell.
And I loooooooove my G3 <3 Loved it in the army, loved it in BC2 and in BF3 :D

Can't wait to unlock that too but it feels so far away. Don't even have my jav yet.

I have been playing bf3 for a couple of weeks now but still I haven't gotten into flying. The first time I got into a jet I only lasted like 5 seconds before I crashed. So I started practicing today in an empty server both planes and choppers and I wanted to know how you guys fly. I find I can control the aircraft better in 3rd person using arrow keys but when it comes to aiming it is waay better with my mouse. Do you guys use mouse and crank up the sensitivity? tips plz t.t

I just got bf3 and hopped into a game for the first time.
I had no idea what to do, and just ran around looking for people, of which i rarely found one (30+ people in server), all i ever saw where people shooting each other in planes and shit.
the thing that really threw me was that there was no team communication. No voice chat. I asked in the server chat multiple times for help, saying i was brand new, and noone even responded.
wtf?

There is no VOIP in BF3, except for the people you may have previously joined up with via Battlelog. Chat is usually ignored and if used at all, then generally for insults.
As for servers feeling "empty" - you'll get a feeling for where the action is soon enough, but it's certainly a lot different than other shooters like CoD, where people will be cramped in rather small levels explicitely looking for carnage. BF3 rewards the player for playing the objective (whether or not folks are doing that is another question), so you'll usually find people near bases or MComs, either attacking or defending them.

how the hell is there no voice chat?
its 2012!

No, seriously. It seems like a bunch of schizophrenics designed the game. There are aspects that are so well done, executed so flawlessly, that you can't help but think that the most passionate and skilled of gamer progammers put all their heart into it. And then there are obvious flaws and essential features simply missing that you wonder which moron would design a multiplayer shooter that way.
Trust me, lacking VOIP won't be the only thing perplexing you. Be glad you didn't start playing before the recent patch and all its glorious and unneccessary changes.

wtf? You should join http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655241237860772/ and send us some friend invites.
Essential features like VOIP and LAN gets cut-off these days .

Until you get a really good feel for the maps, I found it better to just play rush mode for a while so that the map just keeps moving forward (only a small portion of the map is accessible at the time as you push objective after objective, and I find that it forces the action a bit more).
When you start to know them better, you can start playing Conquest. Where the whole map is accessible and multiple objectives are littered around the map.
At least that's what I did to not get overwhelmed with the maps. You might also want to hop on the TL.net platoon to be able to join some TL'ers who know their way a bit around the maps better.
Someone link the platoon for this guy please. I'm at work and can't link it here lol.

So erm....should I come back to playing this? I've essentially stopped, the total bs that was ambushing someone and then losing the firefight because of suppression just didn't make the game rewarding any more.
So at this point am just playing ME3 multi (on and off) and dipping my toes into blacklight, which is hilarious since it seems to promote hip firing so much, have not played a game that rewards hip fire in a long time, but the pace of the game and number of fps noobs makes it easy to pick up and come first in very quickly.
But yeah, have they reverted anything from the patch? I would be surprised if there wasnt a huge drop off in players. Everything just felt wrong, and I don't want to have to relearn what attachments to use, what rifles to use and the like..
|
Nothing has changed back. If we go by the example Dice set themselves it'll be another 7 months before we'll see a patch.
It's just sad that you're rewarded more for missing your first several shots than you are for initiating a fight by hitting them all.
|
Obviously we'll never see any but I'd love to see some overall statistics from after the patch. I'm certain that we'd see an overall increase in jet activity and jet kills, a decrease in chopper k/d and general efficiency and a much higher death rate while driving vehicles. For infantry combat, it's probably reduced accuracy with similar k/d ratios for average, but much higher k/d ratios for top players (as they can abuse the supression change greatly for their advantage).
And chances are that someone, somewhere at DICE is looking at these stats and going "Oh, cool, that's pretty much what we wanted" without realizing how much it has impacted gameplay in a negative way.

I'm partial to the SG553 or the G53 just because I'm used to them and they didn't get changed much from the patch, but the M4A1 isn't a bad way to go either imo.

Honestly, the latest patch should just affect people who were bad to begin with: It takes around 3 bullets (depending on the gun?) to the chest for a kill at mid range so i remember reading. Perhaps 5 for mid- long range? Either way, if you FLANK someone as posted above, it should be your fault if you fail to kill them. Not the suppression changes. Unless you are running a pistol, most guns fire decently fast to kill someone before they are able to turn if you understand how to counter recoil and aim.
Yes the changes are quite drastic from before, but if you can't flank someone now and kill them, then you couldn't before the patch. The ONLY change now is in a straight on 1v1 it's more difficult if you both are spraying and praying.
Edit: As far as engi guns, the SG553 is pretty decent imo. Not great ROF but decent at long range.
