I play recon the most lol and I love it. Usual setup is M39 ballistic 8x, fore grip, suppressor with mav and a base 1911 as back up. I don't know why i still use the suppressor but i guess i like the sound the gun makes with it equiped lol. I'm bout halfway to my 3rd recon star atm. For bigger conquest maps I'll sometimes switch to 12x and bipod no 3rd accessory, especially if there are lots of counter snipers. I have no problems on maps like metro or bazaar granted my team can hold their own. Honestly when firefights get stuck in long hallways I thrive with a ballistic 8x. Yea a lot of times running around and finding an enemy point blank can be a insta death but use a little caution and fore thought you'll be ok.
Sometimes, also, on bigger maps it can be troublesome to find infantry to snipe at but really thats what the MAV is for. Put it up scout around, find some bad guys, back out of the mMAV, move to better ground. Rinse, repeat. Plus spotting tanks and such for teammates is much appreciated. I find myself sometimes just using the mav, exclusively, on those maps i just can't stand.
Recently I been working on using the SOFLAM a little more but it can be frustrating. Usually playing as a random pub, my team rarely takes advantage of the laser targeting. However it can be devastating for the opponents when teamed with a smart javelin user.... errrr... someone smart enough to notice you using the SOFLAM lol.
Over all I guess recon is awesome lol and I find it just as valuable as any other class, but.... any more than 2-3 strong recon players and your team is screwed lol recon isn't something that can over done.

I'm surprised not many have mentioned the m4a1 for the egineer class. It's definitely my favorite thus far and appears to be the best statistically being tied with the a-91 in speed, the highest bullet velocity, best reload, and one of the better spreads/recover. I feel like even at mid-range I'm able to go full auto and be accurate with this weapon. While I have yet to unlock the g53, from what I've heard it's near identical to the g36c. Overall though I feel like the engineer class guns are very balanced and similar in strength compared to other class guns.

I used to put my own mines under enemy mines, so much better than what he described in that video unless they changed it after i stopped playing infantry

Also M4A1 and M4 were really good as well

As he said, one of the tank perks highlights your mines in bright red so they can see them bright as day -- even if it's under an enemy mine. So this is far more effective.

naw dude enemy and friendly mines show up as white, thermal optiKz doesn't differentiate between teams

What i'm not sure about is whether or not enemy mines show up on minimap. Before you couldn't see them on the minimap when you were in a tank but these days I notice them on the spawn screen for some reason so they might have changed that. both techniques are highly situational so its good to know both, but I just prefer the one where you don't have to camp and you can just throw one mine down in a mix of enemy ones.

As a side note: mines have been relatively bad for getting kills off anyone intelligent since they didn't bring over BF1942 banzai mine vs tank mechanics. Those mines were basically AT grenades ^>^

Spotting enemy mines will bring them up on the minimap. That's new this patch. I'm not sure if the tag lasts forever or just a little while, but it does work now.

Anyone been noticing more hackers since B2K released? Yesterday I popped into 3 different servers in a row only to see someone with an insane KDR winning the round for either my team or the others. One guy even had a 27 kdr in his profile. XD

Greetings!

I've been into gaming for a long time now. And my first game ever was Counter-Strike. I've always been an infantry kind of player (CS, CoD, Quake and now Battlefield). But recently I told myself that this has to change and I absolutely must to learn how to fly shit in this game! No matter the cost of my SPM or K/D.

Gentlemen, we just beat the game.

a tank with a driver with thermal, canister and autoloader and a gunner with stealth autoloader and guided missile

Against infantry and tanks you just canister and shoot away and if need be use the gunner to repair the tank.

Against air (and this is key) let the gunner switch to 3rd seat and laser and let the gunner switch to driver and use guided missile to 1 shot air out of the sky.

It's a 2 man army that never dies in pub and gets all the kills without losing mobility and it lets you cap most points safely.


Tips

When you get out of a vehicle, you get out at the side where the gunner barrel is pointing, use this to your advantage so you do not get blown up while trying to repair the tank.

Lasered targets are not affected by flares. A lot of heli pilots pop flares at the last second only to find out they got soflammed and that they are about to die in a fire.

Canister shot is op as fuck and can do severe damage to jets.

the only upgrade gunner really needs is guided missile.
The superior pilot uses his superior judgement to avoid exercising his superior skill.

I managed to get through my SQDM assignment, but it took damn long time (I might have gone something like 5 wins 25 losses) but I gotta say, damn the gun is worth it.

very little recoil. atleast when firing in burst, and insane damage, im 3 shotting anyone i come across and Im totally in love with it.

If anyone wanna play later just for fun hit me up! got the 2 last co-op missions left to do even

I don't think it does shite to tanks and if it does it barely scratches them, do note that canister shell replaces the machine gun (secondary weapon) rather than the tank shells(primary weapon). It does damage choppers and such however and one shots infantry if you land a decent hit, I love it.

Oh, I thought it replaced the primary gun. Nevermind, I was originally confused as to how you would take on other tanks with only canister.

Sounds like you are playing on pS3 or xbox. You will be gibbed with that set up in 64 man with out the infantry radar and smoke screen. Especially with all the Javelin spam.

well you cannot assume just like that. from my experience, ANY solo-rambo-esque vehicles are just easy food. if the guy is playing with his team supporting, you do not need infantry radar/smoke screen
