What an in depth response. If you are just looking at some random persons stats, yes, really. What could possibly be telling? W/L i guess is somewhat telling but not really since a person can't control the dozens of other people in the game. Score per min doesnt mean much, otherwise i guess the people who spam supply in metro are the best players in BF3. K/D? Who cares, you maybe have that by just spamming 320s. All the stats can be misleading or meaningless. | ||

All the stats can be misleading or meaningless. If your w/l is like 3.0 you have to be doing something right, even if that something is just being in a clan that's got no issues stacking pubs. As to the others, good stats don't mean you're good, but bad stats do mean you're bad. There's almost no way to argue that you're competent if your k/d is 0.5. That's a meaningful assessment. The term, I think, is "necessary but not sufficient." | ||

The SC2 strat forum has any number of threads with people 6pooling or 5raxing to masters+. That doesn't mean ladder ranking in general is crap. It's fair to say that things like that are not ultimate indicators of skill, but it's completely ridiculous to say they're meaningless. | ||

It turned out okay since it elicited a good explanation out of you Anyways like I posted before your initial post, I basically agree that each one by itself is obviously meaningless. Taking all 3 together though are indicative of skill if the player plays legit | ||

My friend has a 4-1 K/D ratio, really high SPM and a decent W/L ratio. ALL he does is spam 320s and revive in operation metro. It's not like he's an amazing player or is even trying to be. It sure looks like he is though. I mean i guess you could look in depth and see his weapon stats and deduce what he does, but it just shows how certain modes can just insanely inflate things. | ||

i always feel powerless when i am on top of a mountain on firestorm and spot a tank on E capping it and all i can do is hope for my teammates to defend it. I've had games where i get insane k/d while just lying down and looking for people to kill, but when I win those games, i know it wasn't because of me, sure i helped burn a few tickets, helped spot some people, but the guys on the ground who are capping are the ones who truly win those fights. On games where I do that and lose, I am 100% sure I couldve helped much more if i got on my feet and started roaming. I only go prone all game if I'm confident that my team is good and doesnt need an extra footman. If I see 2-3 snipers already, or my team is lacking a roleplayer i instantly switch to another class or change my m98 to a pdw and go into the fight. TLDR: recon has good gadgets to help the whole team, sitting on one spot the whole game isnt the best idea and getting an insane kd doesn't automatically mean you're the hero. | ||

Any Australian servers that other Aussies would recommend? Also any US servers that US players would recommend? Though will see if ping would be an issue. And as always, anybody with a spare dr pepper code @_@ On a separate note, knifing is....weird. Fun but weird. Guess that is what I get for playing CoD a lot, though it is awkward how a knife from the front to the head counts as a headshot...weird stuff. | ||

No, the daddy gamers who have a hard on for 'realism' love it. Hardcore isnt skillful, its just tedious. Without blowing my horn too much, I could easily go in a hardcore server and play to the same level as normal mode, but the playstyle required to dominate hardcore is lame/boring, its just utilising (read: camping) behind neck high walls for extended periods of time. Theres a reason why i never even thought about downloading project reality for bf2 | ||

Theres a reason why i never even thought about downloading project reality for bf2 project reality was a cool looking mod but its playerbase comprised pretentious jerks and they just slammed anyone who was new to the mod Desert Combat still remained #1 present day conflict mod throughout battlefield series imo. PoE2 was alright but DC was much funner imo | ||
