As far as I know, Wake Island will only be available as part of a special map pack (Back to Karkand). The maps will be a free DLC for those who pre-order the Limited Edition. As with most ea games, you don't need to preorder, just buy the same priced "limited edition". They usually print so many that you can find them on shelves weeks after release though so it's not a big deal.

A demonstration of the game revealed a complex melee fighting system, with both left and right handed punches, blocks, and the ability to grab and throw enemies. With more options than a simple knife-stab, melee combats with 64 players could be more exciting than ever.
Oh God, if this is true, I would spend every cent I have for this game.
Oh God, please be true.

Conquest maps are great and all, but it gets real boring when its pretty clear from the tickets that one team has the advantage, and it demoralizes people from continuing to play the game.
I hope you don't just make that statement based upon your BFBC2 experience. The Conquest mode there was pretty laughable. In the PC only BF games it was pretty epic.

just curious BC2 was my first real BF game i really really played. what makes the past BF conquests modes better than BC2? i thought the online in general was fantastic
anyway around the time BF3 drops should be a good time to look for a new PC......

Super excited! cant wait for a casual game when im tilting...

Strike at Karkand was probably the most epic spamfest of any map in the BF2 rotation.

The maps were more open (like metal or harvest) and vehicle were more powerful. But it wasn't really all that different, except for chokepoints on some maps. Than again, those are sometimes needed, as bc2 only had 32 players, and if 16 of those camp (hello metal snipers) no real fight will start. 64 player choke points (thinking about you, karkand) were terrible too though.

Holy shit, it's true. MELEE FUCKING COMBAT YEAH

Damn... next video is on April 17th, which is a long time for me. Although I've seen the leaked footage already, I really want to see it in HD.

That gave me nerd chills. I am so excited for this game now. I have been watching all these fault line videos repeatedly and all I can say is, HOLY SHIT.

am i the only one not impressed by any BF3 footage so far? I mean graphically it look phenomenal, but gameplay-wise it looks really fucking bland :\. it looks a lot more like CoD 8 instead of BF3. Why does DICE insist on being more like CoD instead of trying to differentiate itself from it?
hopefully when they show the multiplayer it will actually start looking like a BF game.

You pretty much answered your own question. The footage we've been seeing is from the single player, which we all know. If you played the Bad Company series' single player then you would agree that it does not feel like a Battlefield game. The multiplayer will no doubt, feel like a Battlefield game with large maps and vehicles to use. The single player does remind me of Call of Duty games in general, but that is how every fps game is now a days since we have grown used to seeing these types of fps games, the single player at least.

wow this makes me even more hype for it. looks absolutely amazing

I really hope bots are allowed in this game, BF2 was such a great game because i didn't have to pay for my servers and we had Bots for LAN parties. BF2BC2 was crap IMO because we weren't allowed to control our own servers without having to pay for them and there are no bots so whats the fun. Online multi-player is fun but only with a team that works together currently in BC2 there is absolutely no team work on any server pretty much(only servers with team work are locked to the public because it is some clan server) is a huge down side to BC2 over BF2

God I can't wait for this game. I get more and more hyped.
32 vs 32 on karkand again with these graphics = amazing.
32 vs 32 with these graphics in general and destructible environments... My god :D.
Singleplayer well be meh but multiplayer man oh man I can't wait ^_^

i only played the demo of the 1st bad company but they at least went for a lot more open-world battlefield-ey feeling from what i understand lol. I just wish they would of dropped any form of crappy single player and just focused all their time/energy on multiplayer :\
