Do you guys have any advice on which mods I should install to really make it a fresh experience? So that would mean new missions, maybe even new starting location etc. Also stuff that might make controls and UI smoother? Thanks!

E.G All the visual mods so things like your HD textures, lighting, flora overhaul, skies etc. An ENB, depending on how powerful your system is and how detailed you want to fuck around with it. Theres a few good audio mods out there for things like ambient sounds. A weather mod is always awesome combined with this too, you can get some wicked atmospheres. In terms of gameplay, theres T3nd0s Skyrim Redone for a full gameplay overhaul (perk trees and all that jazz.) and then you can start adding things like balanced spell packs, new killmoves etc. Theres a couple good alternatives for SkyRe (Skyrim redone) but i cant remember them offhand. I also use T3nd0s "PerkusMaximus" with SkyRe. You're going to want new location mods, things like "falskaar" are amazing, since it adds an entire new area. New monster mods, Deadly Dragons is always one to grab so you can customise encounters with them. It has a counterpart called Deadly Monsters which is what i use. I also use a mod called WARZONES which basically spawns massive fights between the imperials and the rebels in pseudo-random locations, you can walk over a hill and suddenly 100 soldiers are having a bloodbath. Quality of life mods like SkyUI (UI overhaul, massively recommended by everyone), a follower mod (I use ultimate follower overhaul) and something like Convenient horses. Your alternate start is called just that - Alternate start: live another life. If youre into difficulty, survival mods like frostfall are something to look into. All in all these are the barebones to most peoples modded game, i only tend to run about ~40 mods wheras some people can get into 200+ lol. There are plenty of alternatives to the ones ive mentioned here, just have a look on Skyrim Nexus and G.E.M.S for some more solid recommendations, whenever i need mods i just go there and start browsing for quality mods that take my interest. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/topalltime/?adult=2 http://skyrimgems.com/ -- Dont forget your handy tool to organise them all and tell you where your errors are once they are installed - Wrye Bash / BOSS are decent.

Do you guys have any advice on which mods I should install to really make it a fresh experience? So that would mean new missions, maybe even new starting location etc. Also stuff that might make controls and UI smoother? Thanks! It really depends on what you're looking for. My modding is mainly for changing existing content while ignoring the main storyline completely - combat mechanics, magic and skill tree overhauls, graphics and audio overhauls, world dynamisms and immersion mods. From the top of my head (I'll give a proper list once I get back from work), I'd recommend getting this as the core: Mod Organiser SKSE Skyrim Community Uncapper SkyUI Unofficial patches (Skyrim, Dragonborn, Dawnguard, Hearthfire - depending on which DLC you have) These mods should, in my opinion, be at the core of any modded game experience. These will basically make your game playable at an improved level without changing anything. It'll make Skyrim ready for mods. Mod Organiser is a more robust tool to use mods with than Nexus Mod Manager, so I'd very much recommend using this over the other. In short, it allows you to install mods without actually modifying game files (although your saves will get changed as you use mods, so they can die if you change your mods later on), so adding and removing mods is easy and you'll avoid having to reninstall Skyrim to get rid of ghost scripts or fix modified core files. MO also comes with BOSS, which makes sorting mods to avoid conflicts easy. SKSE is the improved script system which all script-based mods (which is the vast majority) completely depend upon. You will need this for any sort of mod use, and it's integral to get. The Skyrim Community Uncapper works together with this to increase fixed limitations within the Skyrim engine, and is also required for a lot of the mods to function at all. SkyUI improves the default game UI, and also enables the MCM (Mod configuration menu) in the game settings. Most script-based mods will have MCM options where you can adjust the mod settings in-game, so having SkyUI is essential in getting the desired experience out of mods. The unofficial patches fixes issues with the vanilla launch without adding or removing content - broken quests, missing actors, relationship faults and so on. It doesn't change the game, but removes a lot of existing bugs. After getting these, you're ready to add content. Either you can just browse Skyrim Nexus and SkyrimGems, or you can wait and I'll give a list of what I've got later on.

I also use a mod called WARZONES which basically spawns massive fights between the imperials and the rebels in pseudo-random locations, you can walk over a hill and suddenly 100 soldiers are having a bloodbath. A big warning here: Warzones is very likely to destroy your savegame at some point. It was written for an older version of Skyrim and wasn't coded well to begin with. Additionally, once you install Warzones and use it on a save, you cannot remove it. Use at your own risk. If you want something similar that isn't a huge risk, try out the appropriate modules of ERSO: http://erkeilmods.altervista.org/skyrim/r-s-o/ (the immersive battles one in particular). It's certainly not as impressive as Warzones (from a player standpoint, anyway), and possibly not as fun to mess around with, but the risks are lower too. Essential mods that haven't been mentioned (these fall into UI or bugfix categories, just get them): Better dialogue controls: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27371/? Fuz Ro Doh: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14884/? (if you have any mods which add silent lines of dialogue) Quieter Restoration Magic: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15451/? (unless you like that constant ringing) Theres a couple good alternatives for SkyRe (Skyrim redone) but i cant remember them offhand. If you want less-intrusive, there's ACE: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10037/? . Pretty close to a vanilla skyrim experience but fixes some of the biggest problems. For magic, which ACE doesn't touch, I personally use Minimalist Magic Overhaul: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15324/? , though you might prefer something else. There's also ERSO as I mentioned above, which is good because it's highly modular so you can install only the parts you want and most of it plays nice with other mods.

I reckon they have a support team over there, or at least if you ask on their forum you should get assistance (I think).

Usually a required mod is missing or you installed it in the wrong order. Or you have them load in the wrong order, which can be fixed by running a programm like Loot, which will sort the load order of your mods.

Great way to waste time -.- edit: nvm, FeyFey already wrote about loot and TESEdit. Lots of people recommend using verify game cache, but that usually completely rewrites your skyrim.ini and skyrimPrefs.ini, which often leads to more crashes. So it's highly recommended to back those up and try to get rid of crashes in another way first. Especially if you are using an ENB. If you use FNIS remember to update FNIS-behavior whenever you install a FNIS-based (aka custom animation) mod. @not being able to alt+tab bc of cursor: open steam overlay first (shift+tab) ingame before alt+tabbing and it works fine. Not sure if to late or not, but I really recommend ELFX for a different atmospheric feeling. You also might want to try some enb like the grim and somber ones. Alternate Start - Live Another Life gives you different options for how you want to start. For a big gameplay changer a friend of mine recommended ERSO, which tries to create a bigger immersion (I like my allrounder though and i dont feel that leveling up skills is to fast). I think SkyRe is the big alternative.

I'm trying to mod again but i kind of lost all my knowledge it seems (not that i have much to begin with) So i was modding Tundra Defense (since i fucking lost my modification of it) and wanted to add another set of guards to the list and customize them to look like some of my old characters or from other followers that looks good (because the original guards visual are rubbish). But when i try to use HDT hair or custom presets in the CK, it shows OK inside of it (but not really what i have IG) and loading into the game, the character doesn't look like anything it shows in the CK. It's been 2 days that i just tried everything i remember or read on the internet but to no avail. Since the modding community of Skyrim is kind of... elitist and is not really "noob friendly". Might as well ask here. Does anyone here knows his way around the CK ? Help would be appreciated. - For some reason, apachii sky hair is now a master file for tundra defense (dunno why. It wasn't at the start) - The KS hairdo won't apply when i change hair in any Char Gen presets windows. - I have the dark face bug even after CTRL+F4 - If i add a follower actor to the list of guard, it doesn't even look like the follower (face, hair, makeup, eyes etc....) even if i load every mod i use for NPC, player character enhancement (eyes of beauty, KS hairdo, Apachii, lips, makeup mod etc....) I'm starting to wonder how i did it in the first place two years ago.

Also, get MO. NMM is pretty trash.
