Oblivion is a similar deal to Skyrim, but it has a lot of annoyances that you will have to mod out to really enjoy it. You will need to mod it heavily. Its expansion, Shivering Isles, is absolutely brilliant, and is perhaps the only moment in Bethesda's history when they have stellar writing. Fallout 3 is amazing and its DLC is decent. Morrowind, if you can stomach the dated graphics, horrendous combat and lack of a proper journal or objective arrows, is the best game in the series. Its whole world is filled to the brim with detail, originality, variety and wonder. Its expansions, Tribunal and Bloodmoon, are amazing. I was fortunate enough to experience it when it first came out, I doubt that I'd be able to appreciate it today though, as gamers we are all a bit more spoiled towards gameplay and UI conveniences.

Completely agree. Because I enjoyed skyrim so much i loaded oblivion and morrowind again, just for fun. It actually made me appreciate skyrim even more because I found so many things they really improved upon (imo). Stories are arguably better but I guess its partially a matter of taste. (I really like what they did with shivering isles expansion for example but it was just a bit too much crazy for my taste.)

Unique items are all made out of a standard material like glass or ebony or w/e. Even the daedric artifacts are all, uh, daedric, with a couple of exceptions (the exceptions are worse than daedric though).

Also I have played a ton of Skyrim and am gonna be pretty much done shortly. (~140 hours over three characters and all achieves despite taking two weeks off around thanksgiving where I was out of town and a lot less since then) and I had a bunch of other console games lined up to play afterward and I am now afraid they are all going to be a huge letdown. lol.

I had to abort my first character because of unfixable bug, and had to level a 3rd to 30 just to get daedric achievement since I had messed it up on my main but I did that very efficiently since I had allready figured everything out (did lots of lame shit like instant level 10 by training archery with faendal or w\e woodelf in Riverwood and taking the money back since he was my companion etc). Anyways, completely offtopic but I have never played any Assasin's Creed, was going to skip 1 and I bought AC 2 and figured I would start there. Waste of time?

Assassin's Creed 1 is definitely not a waste of time. I highly recommend you play that first. If you don't want to do that, read its story somewhere.

Rage is another good game, put out by Bethesda. Batman Arkham City is good. Morrowind still topples Oblivion and Skyrim, so thats always a good bet. People are still playing that game, truly epic. ^_^ Battlefield 3. The Witcher 2, Might and Magic 6. Dead Island, Fallout 3 and Fallout NV are good choices too.

Dunno if you are the open minded type, but the godfather of all RPG is Baldur's Gate 2. If you do not mind the outdated graphics, you shall have the most amazing single player experience in your life. To date, I do not believe any RPG has surpassed what Baldur's Gate 2 achieved. I am sure many players here would agree with me. Oblivion is inferior to Skyrim and Morrowind. However, if you are willing to spend the time to mod Oblivion, it can and will become perhaps the greatest RPG ever. Morrowind honestly was not about combat. Morrowind was about the adventure. Its world was the most unique, atmospheric and richest of all Elder Scrolls, strengthened by a very strong background story. Morrowind was perfect, except for its god awful combat system.

New Vegas is definitely a game I recommend to people who liked Skyrim.

The waste of time comment was to the whole series in general. As to AC1 what is the graphics difference between it and 2?
