I'm having tons of fun and decent difficulty playing with a ranger sort of character. I barely have any crafting skills and some dungeons can be pretty tough. Forelhost in particular was quite tough.
Can't bring myself to play any more. Picked up some new spells but I really just don't care.
Back when I first started I'd go through the caves and any NPC that was doing some action like sitting I would think, "Hmm I should take off sneak and try to talk just in case". Nope. Walk in and kill everything all the time. It's just so fucking lazy. There is so much content but it's all the same or just as one dimensional. Take this fort. Take that fort. Take this fort. Take the city. GG.
There doesn't seem to be any creativity to quests and very little wiggle room. I was never hyped for Skyrim, I don't even know how they built up so much. Dragons? The way they described dragons I knew would be very little like how they behave in game. They attack towns? Oh you mean they fly around and burn the guards when you're some place close and the chance of that happening is slim anyway? They're just random encounters and not even that tough, even on master. Sure it's cool when they get into fights with other stuff like trolls or get owned by those random mages but I just feel that again, there's no creativity to them. The way they move around just seems awkward too at times.
The spells are pretty bleak too. I just don't care for spells that are just flame/ice/lightning variants all day. Can't they do poison spells or non-elemental spells? I mean there's such a huge library of spells available that they could have done, you could take some ideas from Baldur's Gate like Grease, cast a small patch on the ground and the enemy slips over. Add fire to it and it burns like that liquid does. I just got so bored that my only attack for like 7 hours was firebolts. And then I got fireballs and they were just worse.
ehhh too busy watching mlg but I just can't be bothered to start playing again when there is nothing of real interest. The world is nice and everything but when the main quest lines are done in like an hour I just don't see the point :[
TBH after playing so much these days I don't think Skyrim is that good. The world is one of the best I have ever seen. And that's why we were all ''omg this is perfect'' the first few days after release. But, the quests are not so good, the main story ends in like 8 hours if you focus on it, the guilds quests are plain bad, the battles are 1-dimensional and did I mention the story is bad? They might just call it Cliche quest instead of Skyrim for all I know. Will anything ever top the d&d rpgs we had over a decade ago? BG, ID, PT I'm looking at you.
@totojka i agree with you about dragons but there will be great mods for magic. there was a mod named "Midas Magic Spells of Aurum" in oblivion and it added a lot of fine spells.

Having just rebought 2 of those and getting all nostalgic...probably not any time soon. I do think Skyrim is a very good game though myself, though I am putting my faith in the modding community more than I had originally hoped too.
Well yeah, i totally expected to be bored with the game pretty soon, as with most open world games I've ever played. If it wasnt for the modding ability i would never have even thought about buying it. I'm pretty happy just knowing theres a pretty, moddable world i can run around in. Those looking for story or deep game play or challenge probably shouldn't have expected much coming in, at least from vanilla skyrim.

I think... this is what kept me from TES for so long. I was always accustomed to the BG type of game I enjoyed so damn much before. However, I've learned now not to expect that from TES games, and enjoy them for what they are. Basically, they aren't story driven RPGs. They are lore and exploration driven RPGs, which need to be played under a whole different focus to be enjoyed.
My only wish is that dragons were more aggressive and tougher. I mean, bears are a nightmare compared to dragons.

I keep hearing about how bad bears are, but being someone who pretty much maxed out Sneak and no other combat skills, I can adamantly say bears are piss-easy compared to the Elder Dragon I found the other day, which I swiftly ran far away from after a few desperate attempts of killing >.<

But now I got 70% frost resistance and am getting enchantments near 100 too so there shouldn't be any difficulties in the future.
Bleh, still atleast 40% of content left. Got just Whiterun, Markarth and Solitude cleared. Hope the difficulty cranks up a bit soon.
Turn up the difficulty if you are not in Master!
ofc it's on Master, dunno why they put any easier difficulties in games.
Restart a game on master level and don't easy up your route on maxing smithing/enchanting, it's well known on forums that the game is easily broken through this route.
That's the thing. I didn't. I'm just under level 50 BTW.
becomes a werewolf if you want to continue the Companions questline. Farkas said not every members of the circle are werewolves and that they won't force me if I don't want to, but I had to if I want to join the Circle. Beth missed a chance to show schism within the Companion...those who embraces lycanthropy as a gift and those who don't. I wish I could snitch on Aela and Skjor and talk with Kodlak to progress the questline but no.

Honestly, I think we should just take the game the way it's supposed to be: open-world and non-story driven. While I think the open-world portion of this was done VERY well, they could have definitely improved upon the characters and story. Even Ulfrich and other 'vital' NPCs felt very very flat and uninteresting, while the main quest is fairly uninspired.
I think the roaming aspect of Skyrim is so much improved over oblivion. And the way that enemies level, i.e not leveling with you per se.
Although, the balance of magic vs [not]magic seems skewed. As a high elf character trained nearly purely in magicka and destruction, I still have to resort to axes vs enemy mages.

I just spent all night trying to rescue a save file from vampirism.
I'm new to Elder Scrolls, had no idea what happens when you're a vampire. All of a sudden everyone in town started trying to kill me and I had no idea why. Turns out it's vampirism, and if you're a vampire and you don't feed on sleeping people eventually you'll get flagged and everyone everywhere will try to kill you.
Had to look up how to cure vampirism, then had to spend hours trying to navigate my way from the oldest save file I had to being cured of vampirism, without killing any important NPCs. I wasn't even sure at some points if it was even possible.
Seems really really stupid to me that Bethesda would leave this in without some serious design changes. I'm looking online and every discussion about curing vampirism is filled with people complaining about how stupid it is and how their save files are rendered unplayable.
Basically, if you come into contact with a vampire, drink a cure disease potion or activate the Shrine to Talos in Whiterun. If you don't cure that disease, it'll develop into you being a vampire, and then you have to feed on people to avoid getting "apocalypse flagged" (where every NPC in the game tries to kill you on sight), and you can cure vampirism by talking to an innkeeper, selecting "Have you heard any rumors?" and following that quest to Falion in Morthal.
Just touch the altar of any gods, it removes every diseases including vampirism (as long as you didn't embrace completely and didn't wait too long. The easiest one is the one in Whiterun down the stairs to Dragonsreach palac. There's a priest talking about Talos and you see a small purple-ish reversed sword near him. Click it and you receive a boost, remove disease and what not.
To all the guys missing some good RPG, here are a couple of easy steps to get your fix (I did that recently and am having a blast):
1. Get Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2. Grab the official 1.2 patch and unofficial 7.8 (I believe that's the latest) 3. Enjoy! 4. After your third walkthrough (you need one normal, one as Malkavian and one as Nosferatu)*, if you begin to get bored with the game, go ahead and re-install it with just 1.2 patch and either Camarilla Edition or Final Nights mod pack, which change the game completely.
Seriously, one of the best RPGs ever created and it works fine on Win7 x64. Things that I love the most there are heavy social interaction and many ways to complete most of the quests (talk your way through it, stealth it, brute force it etc.). And the quests themselves are pretty cool too. Most of the time you're playing detective or taking part in some crazy scheme.
Recommended for nostalgia and every RPG fan who is either too young or otherwise missed this title.
*Nosferatu could be considered hard mode while Malkavian turns it into a completely different game (have you ever talked with a stop sign or tried to play RPG where you're truly delusional and you have absolutely no idea what kind of replies you're giving?). Just don't play as Malkav first, while it's a blast, you're demented and all, but their special insight feels just like playing the game with spoilers.

High Elves simply have a magicka regen racial once per day and starting skill ups to magic skills. You would be better off using an orc (rage reduces all damage by half while doubling yours) or breton (their magic absorbing skin).
To be honest, the races are more cosmetic than what it used to be in Oblivion but its still likeable.

I think the biggest improvement besides the graphics is that all dungeons seems similar but different from the previous one. Most of them feel epic in proportions. Theres a lot of hidden passageways and some dungeons are used for 2-3 quests sometimes using different paths that leads to different end places.

No, he didn't. He said that not every companion is a werewolf. Everyone in the Circle definitely is.
But, yeah, I agree.
You're right. He said "only the Circle are blessed with the Beastblood", implying that it is a requirement for joining the Circle and that he likes being a werewolf.
