Ah, I'm having so much fun right now! Makes me not want to continue my save on Morrowind. Haven't experienced any bugs so far. Hopefully they manage to patch them up before I do.

On Adept difficulty? Also, those are pretty generic guys you are fighting, and you're using probably the hardest single-hit setup for a character. Either turn up the difficulty or wait for some higher rank creatures to fight. I was watching the 12 hour marathon stream and the guy was one-hitting a lot of bandits and then would get his ass handed to him by a Captain or whatever.

Why was I under the impression that I wouldn't have to deal with some long ass steam download if I bought the retail version sigh...
Oh well saved 10€ compared to steam and got a paper map.

Thanks for pointing that out but no need to be a douchebag about it, I've read the thread for couple days now and now that I have the game in my hands I suddenly didn't feel like finding an answer from this thread to something I didn't realise wasn't meant to happen.

im playing a breton (badass looking dude) pure mage. really digging the presentation and the improvements to mage-based combat so far. did the claw dungeon quest and it was sick. the third person mode is also MUCH improved. just bought a horse named 'ali'.
first 2 hours of skyrim are better then anything i ever saw in oblivion. better then morrowind? im not ready to make that claim yet.

yeah, most "grunts" die in a hit or two (using sword and board), but any 2 handed captain class will just 2 shot you if not careful. Good thing they are rather dumb so you can backpedal some of the swings away.

I feel kind of underwhelmed by the combat in this game. It seems somehow worse than Oblivion in a lot of ways. Not sure what to think of it past that though, I've barely explored anywhere.. But somehow I'm getting a bad taste in my mouth already.

My only issue with the combat so far is getting blocked. It just doesn't look or feel right. Maybe I haven't been blocked hard enough? It was sort of a piss-off in the other TES games, getting staggered when you blocked, but in Skyrim getting blocked feels so insubstantial, like nothing really happened.

ok ok ok. are all the complaints about the mouse not being able to be used in the menu from only people who pirated the game?
or do people who bought it also have this problem??
