Hey guys.
I am currently playing Uncharted Waters Online
It's a sailing game, every city is unique.
and you can explore the ruins of the world, it is based on historical facts or rumours for some of the quests that you encounter during the 1600 centuries.
This game is pretty unique from all the MMOs you will find on the market. It's got absolutely AMAZING mid-game and end-game. Your nation will be able to compete in taking over the world one city at the time. And also you basically can attack anyone, almost anywhere (as long as not too close to popular cities, those are safe water, sorta like a newbie protection, so basically early game you will never ever encounter PVP if you don't feel like it)
You can customize your character and your ship to no end. It's AMAZING!!
It's got amazing. The character development is BRO-tastic. The leveling system is very unique, and the skills pick are very awesome, you can pick whatever skills you like no matter what class you start with, so basically by end-game you will able to pick 50 plus skills from over 100s of skills. So you can be a Cook-Melee-Gunner to Animal-Trader-Pirate to Biologist-Treasure-Hunter to Archeologist-Thief. All the skills that you pick will make your character super unique and you will be able to explore the world based on the real world-map and every ship is different from every port. The landscape is also based on real world wonders.
I really like this game so far, the people are friendly and there's tons of people right now.
I really wish you guys will give a try.
My name is "Yamikira" (caps do matter), add me in game once you are on, see you there teamliquid!!
A quick guide: Right now the dutch is strongest, however I am from Spain, there's tons of Australasian and North American players at Spain, Portugal, and England. I highly suggest if you looking for casual player it doesn't matter which you wanna go into (come to Spain if that's case, it's the world-center since it's located in the middle of everything), but Dutch have a very tough time at the start but it is def. one of the strongest end-game.
Finish your school, it's located in your main city "Door Keeper", once you finish you school you get these really imba items and MASSIVE leveling experience, because of the depth of the game is SOOOOOO DEEP. Extremely deep compare to Grind-ish battle MMOs, it will feel like there's alot of information going on at once, but you will definitely get a hang of it once you compete all your newbie training.
Cheers! Happy Sailing!
P.S. As of yesterday, they came out with a promotion link, which if you register under this link, when you get to level 10 you will get these "cash-value" items that give you 30% skill/exp/fame/speed increase. The bottom is my promotion link, give a shot!
MARCH WE GO!!
This is the link below where you will get amazing items after completing level 10. The offer expires - March 3rd (2011)
and the launch of the promotion, so on Dec 7th they hand out their first set of prize, don't worry, getting to level 10 it's easy, when you complete your first stage of school you are usually level 12 or so. When I started it took me 2 hours but I was really lazying around and admire all the cities and run around wasn't doing the training LOL.
- December 7th and 21st (2010) - January 4th and 18th (2011) - February 1st and 15th (2011)
The offical link it's here: http://global.netmarble.com/uwo/main.asp
Anyways, it's really nice to have a promotion and everything, but I truly believe you will really like this game because it's so unique from all the grinding style MMO and it really encourages player to interact with each other because of the system.
Where the trader is able to product everyday and unique items that everyone wants. Richest on the server! Able to buy anything really!
The maritime can protect their team mates and also make awesome battle equips for ships. Maritime teammates are highly demended for protection purpose.
The best equips of course comes from an adventurer which allows you to sell it at a ridiculous sky rocket prize. Fastest leveling.
So, even if you are not interested in the promotion, it would be totally awesome that you check it out. As long as you have fun in the game, and one day you come on as a super high level and tells me "dude, I am really glad I ended up playing." There's nothing more awesome to hear that!
Here's my register link below. HAPPY SAILING!

I get in game coins which 20,000 which allows to purchase speed/fame/exp/skill boosters; and you get 4 booster items which in total cost 20,000 Netmarble Coins.
To be very honest, no doubt it would be very nice to have boosters, I am just excited to have more players on the server :D

I am not gonna lie you guys should Join Dutch, but it's pretty lonely @ Dutch since all the good dutch players have gone far far away (India and Caribbeans)
Spain and Portugal are both #1 most player populated towns. They are the easiest to start.
Highly recommend Spain because it's a fairly peaceful nation at the moment.
Portugal is @ war with the Dutch and same with the English,
England is another great choice, but overall distance for midgame is a little far, but a very strong country for Adventurers.
Dutch is currently the #1 country right now and it is highly recommended for long-term player. Because it takes alot of knowledge to play a good dutch. Nonetheless this is where all the good players are, not sure what kind of players are dutch, seen alot of chinese gold farmers as Dutch though.
France is very strong, currently have full control over central europe, recently took over 4 Italian Cities.
Italy is bad, do not join Italy, they are weakest in terms of everything. Recently being taken over by France.
England is currently at an investment war against the Dutch in South Africa
Portugal is currently at an investment war against the Dutch in India
Spain is fairly neutral to all of this.
France is at war and beating Italy.
My recommendation is:
Spain, Dutch, English, France, Portugal, and Italy
Why Portugal so behind, it's because Portugal had a guild called MTC, which dominates the server at the beginning, now all the leaders has gone MIA. The guildmaster havn't been on for a month. Going strictly downhill from there.
Spain is populated with people. A very lively city, this is where I start, so I gotta love it.

Gave this a try last night.. Am I supposed to go through training for all three disciplines or just one? Since I notice a lot of people are leveled in all 3. Also when should I start investing in better ships as an adventurer?
|
It says you can capture city's do you do this as a person and personaly own the city afterwords ? Or is it like faction wars where the dutch (yeaah !) take over a city together and then it belongs to their territory ?
|
So is this just another MMO? What elements of sailing affect gameplay to make it different?
Is there any actual naval combat? I've been dying for a good old fashioned 18th century naval warfare game... but I can never seem to find one aside from the naval battles in empire total war... but then the rest of that game is garbage t.t;

I would suggest go through all trainings because they are ridiculously easy and they give you massive amount of experience, don't be afraid to ask people what to do in school or in person.
There's 3 schools, one in your starting city, an intermediate school, and an advanced school. In west and east europe, the intermediate school locates in Ceuta and advanced school located in Pisa. You can look at the cities map on the main netmarble uwo site.
you should always try to get the next ship whenever you can, and adventure should really finish adventure school by leveling archaeology. Athens and Alexandra is a great place to meet other adventurers.
Experience in a fleet is usually triples or 4x more than on your own. But it's rare people get into a fleet. So you should really considering join a guild/company at your capitol.

Usually it's impossible to capture a city on your own, you may attack cities during "Sea Battle" schedule, so the server will allow certain cities to be attacked during this period of time. It's usually a national thing or a faction thing.
Another easier way to "capture" city is by investing, the higher amount you dump money into the city the higher your country's control will be for that current city, this is known as the invest war. And dutch owns all east of india. while French owns middle europe.

yeah absolutely, you can customize your ship to any way you want, more armour vs. more cargo vs. more speed, while the skill "metal casting" allowing awesome cannons, better plating, better head figure and the skill "sewing" allowing better sails for your ship. then the shipbuilding skill give you... well, higher tier ships.
All the PVP are based on naval sea battles occurs in "Hostile Water" (an area where any players can attack anyone). And if you do decide to attack a white name player in Hostile Waters you will turn orange (pirate) for a short periods of time and other players can attack you anywhere, even safe waters (non hostile waters). However if you attack orange names or red names, you wont get a penalty.

Yeah, I loved Uncharted Waters on the SNES, #2 was pretty good too. One of my favorite games. I saw the mmorpg online one day but like you said it wasn't in English. I might check this out sometime, but right now I only have a netbook. I'm interested in what other people here think about it

So basicly its some kind of faction wars. Too bad I'd love a game which I could play and own on my own setting up some giant empire.

There's a player owns half of eastern india, the most rich player on the server, I dont think you can catch up at this point.

This looks good. I played Voyage Century briefly which I enjoyed and Pirates of the Burning Sea as well, which wasn't so good. Going to give this a try, just signed up under your link. EDIT: HOW DO I FIND THE TRAINING SHIP LOL
|
Umm LOL sorry I had 3 exams for the last 3 days. It should be outside of your main port, it should be easy to find
add me in game everyone, Yamikira

But I'm certainly intrigued.

Oh lol, I remember playing this on Korea when it had just come out (Open beta). Those were fun times; the game tended to freeze my computer randomly when I played it though D: Haven't touched it for years though. Now I see lot of newer interesting details have been added.
Ironically the best experience I had with this game was not of gameplay itself, but sharing that exploration spirit with the Korean community as newer lands and continents were slowly added to our original world. When lands to the direction of North America was just being added, some brave guy ventured toward that direction and managed to get himself stuck on that island which were very, VERY far at that time (don't remember the name). It subsequently led to epic thread where the guy posted in detail about his attempt to escape his "current port" island and return back to European mainland, only to suffer again and again from repeated food shortages and destruction under NPC pirates. Followed up by courageous rescue party forming to help the guy come back safely, with first party being stuck on that island themselves rofl. I was average Explorer at the time and definitely did not participate in rescue effort, but I posted frequently on the thread and private message'd the guy expressing my support and encouragement. It's always an epic feeling seeing such game history in making.
... Oh wow I went off-tangent here or what xD
