PMed, also, are we playing blitz or classic? Ive been learning classic, not sure if there's a huge difference though.

Do you not want multiples of the same team? I guess I don't see the issue as in board game leagues we've almost always had two of the same team (usually dwarf) and no one has really cared. I guess I don't see the problem with letting people choose what they want to play.

From my understanding of turn based blitz vs classic the only differences added to blitz mode are the pre-game training sessions and equipment.

Definitely playing turn based and not real time. Might still have to make the league in blitz mode to have the extended inducements (not sure if this is still the case with LE).

I also think there is no way everyone would take undead skaven or amazon if we let people choose.

Two issues of note:

1. I have received a formal request to keep Halflings in the team pool.

2. We -will- be using a limited draft format, as outlined below.


Tonight at 12:00 AM (EST), I will generate a random list of coach names and post them here. Anyone to join after this time will be added to the bottom of the list.

The first player on the list will be sent a PM with three team options to choose from. The chosen team will be taken off the list and I will proceed to the next coach. I hope this process will go quickly given that it's the weekend.. but at this time I will not enforce a time limit.

I pity anyone who gets Vampires tbh. Maybe it's just my luck but I always spend half of my games as vampires chasing down Thralls to eat, atleast once per turn.

I haven't really given that much thought, yet. Nor even how many matches a week we should play.

I was thinking 2 matches a week, 12 weeks as a baseline OR 2 matches a week, 8 weeks. The shorter seasons will help retain players.

If we wants teams to span over multiple seasons I'm inclined to say two month seasons. Do we want things to be fast and dirty?

So maybe 16 or 24 matches? We couldn't do that with 20 teams (assuming that we play every team) unless there were separate divisions.

Also, is there such thing as home stadium advantage?

As for starting: I would -love- to start next weekend. I figure we will be figuring out teams and such until Monday-Tuesday. That will give people Wednesday-Friday to prepare some badassery and/or their teams.

First blood will (again, hopefully) drawn on Friday or Saturday. Assuming we can find between 3 and 5 more people.

I think it's 6 AM your time.. but I am posting it at midnight my time so it will be up all day Saturday. I am hoping people can see their spot on the list and hopefully be around sooner or later depending on their spot.

It would be glorious if we can get all of the races picked by Sunday, but I highly doubt it.

Will you need help with the organizational aspect of the league or does BB Manager handle matchmaking? If it doesn't I've put some thought into the setup of the regular season and I can share my work if you want.

So I've looked into the BB Manager from their webpage and it doesn't seem to include regular season matchmaking and/or tournament scheduling capabilities. How do other leagues handle that? Let me know if you need help!

I'm going to be at an SC2 LAN that next week on Saturday. I hope there's a little freedom in terms of scheduling games, but I've never done this before so I don't know. Are games locked and required to be played at a certain time on a certain day or do you have a span of time to finish a game before the next round starts?

Looking forward to it, though. Will be checking constantly to see if my name is up for draft!

My idea is allow the players to coordinate games themselves. Each week you will be given two match-ups and will be expected to play those two games.

I'm thinking a 48-hour window is long enough to make contact. i.e. you PM your opponent, and he has to respond to it within two days. Since we are literally spread across the globe, I presume most games will happen during the weekends.

Bare in mind, I have never organized something with such varying play times.. so this style may be completely inefficient.

Anyone have better ideas/input?
