I'd really prefer the game be challenging, and don't want to start with some huge advantage.
XP gain starts to draw out incredibly toward the end of BG1, and access to magic items in BG2 is much greater. Even if you clean out BG1/ToTSC exhaustively, you'll probably only get 1-2 levels advantage, nothing overwhelming, and which will get dwarfed rapidly by your gains in BG2.

Imoen could learn it, though I recommend against giving her too many of your scrolls early on (you'll know why at the end of the first dungeon). It may be worthwhile to just simply pass the items between your party members to see if any of them have a high enough Lore score to identify it without magic.
Additionally, IIRC only Mage casters learn spells from scrolls. Druids/Clerics are granted all the spells they have access to of each level once they achieve the necessary level.item between your

Congratulations on purchasing one of the best games ever made.

Thanks TheYango!
Is there a Way without a Mage (Imoen is unable to cast anything in my version of the game) to identify weapons? Like a Store or something...
So basicly without a mage I can sell all the scrolls?

To cast spells with Imoen remove her armor. Dual/multi class mages cannot cast spells while wearing armor unless that armor is some form of elven chainmale. Stores and temples will identify items for a price, glasses of identification will also identify a certain amount of items per day. The other way is to get a character with a high lore value and right click on unidentified items while they are in their inventory. Bards have high lore, although blades have only half normal bard lore value. Mages also have decent lore values.

Thanks for your tips. The game is getting better and better played like 8houres today
now I need some rest to recover my spells xD

Even if you don't have a mage right now, some of the best NPCs in the game (both in terms of roleplay and character power) are mages. You could probably sell them if you're tight on space, and then buy them back at a loss when you have one.
Shops can identify items, but they charge a pretty hefty fee. Finding a mage that can do it, or simply leveling until your lore reaches required levels is generally preferable.

So many good memories brought up by this thread.
BG2 is seriously the greatest game i've ever played. The villian is all time great, the gameplay is legendary and the amount of stuff to do is as much as any game ever made.
This is a game you need to take your time with. You can literally spends dozens upon dozens of hours in this game. There is so much to do it is overwhelming at times but keep at it. Make sure to save A LOT, and have different saves just in case. I have replayed this game more times than I can remember. Playing mage classes is most fun for me b/c of the choices.
Edwina, err Edwin is the best/most fun companion. Make sure you do his personal quest (do all the players personal quests).
After you've beaten the game a few times, try it with cheats. It's pretty fun to play a god-character with the best gear, all the spells and such. That was a fun playthrough.
Oh, and I fucking killed Drizzit :D.

It's Drizzt and it is one syllable.

I actually read 5 of Drizzt novels because of Baldur Gate II.
That drow and his little party actually owned my ass when I attacked him the first time. I had to save and reload 3 times before finally killing them. He gave me more trouble than the end boss haha. Got me curious and made me start reading.
The novels were good at first, but eventually you realize it's just the same super hero formula repeated over and over and I lost interest.
Oh, and Drizzt's party's loot sucks.

^ First two books are good ( Underdark ) then it is meh/bad.

Only gets better with his epilogue text as well.

I played BG2 with two friends like 6 years ago, and 2 of us had played it before and we had both played it through two times ourselves. So of course both of us our trying to convince our one friend who's playing as the main character since he's never played the game before that, to go the evil route because it's so much easier. But of course since it's his first time playing through he doesn't want to go the evil route.
Now He doesn't know where he's going and since we're all playing together and we know where to go he just asks us where to go. So every opportunity we get, we're like "NOO! that's a good guy don't kill him, he just looks evil!" or "you can't trust the widow/orphan It's a trap!"
That multi-player aspect of the game of just playing with friends and having real party conflict over moral decisions is something I haven't found in any other game.

Baldur's Gate II is still, in my opinion, the best game ever made. Any console, any genre. It just struck me as the perfect game for me. Still have it instaled, even after finishing it 6-7 times, a number which is probably going to be around the 100's when I get old because I'll never stop re-playing it.
Unless they make Baldur's Gate III. Never gonna happen. And don't give me that Dragon Age crap.
Most basic hint for someone starting? I'd say... make sure you put 3 on Charisma on your main character or some other character in your group. Very early in the game (literally after the first dungeon) you get rewarded a ring that sets your charisma to 18.
Also... quick save and rest a lot. Scout with a stealthed rogue. I could go on forever.

Eh, that's like calling The Silmarillion the first Middle Earth book.
The first two books were part of the Icewind Dale Trilogy and they certainly did not take place in the Underdark.

I'm talking of Homeland and Exile of the first trilogy. Third book is meh imo. The IWD trilogy is also meh.
edit: ok i see what you mean, not the same chronological order of writing kk.

I'm playing a wildmagic Sorcerer as main, it's so difficult to fight with him cuz with magic is so fucking random. Will this become better ? or will my main hero suck for always like this ? How should i build my wildmage sorcerer ?

As you progress through levels, you get spells and abilities that make the wild magic less and less random (which means that every time you try to cast a spell of a higher level than your own, you will have progressively better chances at casting it without complications). I also suggest playing through with a wild mage without ever reloading after a misfired spell, unless you died of course. It's just so much fun hiccupping for 10 hours!

...and the memory of the memory... Jon Irenicus is simply most badass mage/villain all the time!
The dungeon like Asylum or Watchers Keep are very entertaining, great battles and great mind games all over the place. Best dialogues, hilarious moments, epicness, great music ( example final battle music - here and here and here)
Awesome story line with multiple choices, good or bad, its your choice. Good voide acting (Irenicus OMFG !!! + Dragons like Firkraag) Epic equipments and over all the descriptions of the stuffs are top notch, dont forget to read everything you can, like books and scrolls! Tons of side quests, tons of reading, tons of lore, tons of secrets.
Probably the most detailed game ever made, I really hope that any game in the future will be as detailed as BGII once was, cuz Dragon Age was very dissapointing. Recommended for any kind of RPG player, its easy to learn and hard to master, it can be very challenging in hard difficulty or with mods, that will make better AI for monsters or bosses (like Sendai or Demogorgon (who is nearly invincible in the modded version on hard difficulty) and it can replayed many times with other characters.
Have fun with it!!
