i've been in the GW2 beta since the very first closed beta invite only events. I was not impressed back then and I only bought the game because my GF really wanted to play it. Having said all of that, the release is incredible. The overflow problems aside this is the best mmo launch I've ever seen. It's also incredibly fun spvp, pve and they have fucking spvp tournaments. This game is incredible and should exceed the hype. THe world they've created is beautiful and full of shit to do for whatever your playstyle.

Passed that is a zone with a bunch of mobs, including mortars. You will be climbing up mushrooms and there is one part near the top that is really tricky.. You have to jump on the vine behind it. But at the top you will get an even better chest with better items.
I reccommend that you bring a friend or to, because when you fall you will die. And when you die there will be mobs all over you body. So having company is a must

There is a small jumping puzzle towards the southeast of Metrica Province that leads you to a platform of 8-10 Potato nodes. Haven't found bay leaves yet though.

Alright, I'll take a look thanks. I'm sure there's a vendor that sells Bay Leaves in Bulk for Karma. I just can't find him/her.

How stochastic is GW2, if you take in every random event, critical hits, traits, skill etc.
I've noticed that the base damage range seems to deviate very little from an average value (less than 10%). Is that correct?
Then, a few skills have descriptions like 'every fifth hit the following applies ...'. So it really counts instead of applying a PRNG?
So every random chance factor combined, how large is stochastic part?

So every random chance factor combined, how large is stochastic part? Had to look up the meaning of stochastic. So far I have come across nothing like '% chance to happen' at all. No skill acts like that atm. Autoattacks follow a pattern of attacks that may act differently but are not chance based.

There are traits that give % chance to burn on crit, or % chance to apply swiftness or vulnerbility, stuff like that. Havnt seen any on plain skills though.

Ah yes, completely forgot about these. These are more slight dps increasing skills than gamebreaking 'that mage just had 282384 FoF procs'

I'm pretty slow at learning/finding various things with new games. Currently I'm having trouble finding quests at my level.
Currently a human at level 8, and I only have 1 greenstar quest, suggesting level 10. I've explored a bit and don't seem to be able to find anymuch else at my level, any suggestions? = \

what do you craft to lvl cooking 100-150 or w/e 100-125?, the available options seems requires a lot of gathering of onions etc, unless there is a karma vendor for chili peppers?

You could:
1. WvWvW. There's plenty to do here, like a completely separate game (it can be tough to figure out at first). You can level soley through this mode if you wanted. 2. Redo some of the stuff you've already done (not too exciting, I know, but maybe there was some esspecially fun events you'd want to redo?) 3. Go to another race's starting zone and begin doing their quests until you've caught up 4. Explore while gathering and killing random stuff (not saying grind it out, but kill stuff here and there). You'll gain xp from exploring, gathering, and killing while possibly having a fun time finding new stuff (look for points of interest on your map and unlock them) 5. Work on crafting from all the gathering you did in step 4. You also get xp here. 6. Probably some other stuff that I'm not thinking of.
I also found myself getting stuck without anywhere else to go in my race's zone, but since I plan on playing through all racial zones at some point I decided to toss in WvWvW when I get bored of PvE or stuck. So far it's worked really well and leveling to 23 has been really fluid and fun.
I think the important part here is that a lot of us will feel there needs to be a specific "thing to do next" in a series of things to reach max level (like every other MMO), but instead we should approach it like "what would be really fun to do right now" and just do it.

What are rank points in PvP used for? As far as I can see glory is used for raising your rank, and determining who you are matched against.

Thanks for the detailed answer, Rad
What is WvWvW? Is it world events?

World vs World vs World PvP. Basically your server vs 2 other servers trying to take over the world pvp zone. I don't know what default key is to bring it up, but check the top left menu for World vs World, then you can join it using some button at the top. Talk to the instructor guy there for some more detailed instructions on what to do, but understand it'll probably be tough to pick up at first because there's just so much going on.

No but seriously guys how do we get a GW2 Subforum? Can't we just nuke the 2012 Olympics one?

Why do you need one?

Don't 'NEED' I would like one, so discussion would be a bit more organized, I feel like the game has enough depth and content to deserve one.

O boy,
Now I am intrigued on another MMO
I am an original Asheron's Call player(the best MMO to ever exist) PvP in that game was fucking amazing, had a good BW feel to it where skill was rewarded, world was incredible to, no sandbox bullshit, no ridiclous stories, lots of killing and exploring.
I did vanilla WoW for a year(second best MMO) and that game was really good, mainly because after 6 years of War3 I got to live in the world I had fought in. PvP was really cool to.
From there, on I tried Warhammr as the focus was PvP, I could give a fuck less about PvE. Warhammer failed hard as we all know. I wasnt burned out on the game, however the game burned itself out and I then I quit.
From there I did SWTOR, that game was like crack for the first month. Really good story line, but before i knew it I was burned out to hell, got two characters to twenty and the second I was on Tatooine I was done. so much fucking grinding with meh PvP.
So GW2 kind of intrigued me with the random event stuff(like i said I fucking hate generic "kill 5 bunnies" PvE) and with some better takes on PvP(so it seems) than the stupid fuck run of the mill games weve seen in the last years.
I also love the idea of no subscription, I hate spending 60 dollars plus another $30 for the two months I play the game getting burned out.
So can somebody who has done a lot of the beta help me out? I want an MMO thats immersive(not sandbox follow the path of stupid fucking quests) and more importantly I want a PvP system that is entertaining and is a huge focus of the game.
