A serious error has occurred that prevents the program from continuing to run. I tried downloading the downloader again and save the game to another destination, didn't help. I tried http://guildwars2necromancer.com/news/fix-for-guild-wars-2-client-update-error/ - brought me further but still crashes on update. Anyone know what to do?

This has nothing to do with the error descibed here.

Big thank you for thinking of that, ridiculous and i hope Arena Net get their shit together for launch but nontheless, you've been very helpful - owe you one.

I want to enjoy this game so much but after trying it in beta three times now I'm still far from convinced. The movement is a big part of it. The characters feels so stiff and slow. My other big problem with the game is how zergy the PvP feels and with all the spell effects going there's no chance of telling what's going on. The Old Republic atleast sucked me in for a month or so - this games hasn't had me hooked at any point so far.

I played GW for 4.5 years and still think it's the best MMO ever, even if some people refuse to call it MMO. I have to say i'm thoroughly disappointed, GW2 is just another generic grind MMO that just happens to have some event stuff which isn't even well integrated. It has nothing of what made GW great. The complete game design is "WoW-ified". I now can understand all those BW fans a little better... Another 50 or so Euro wasted on the hope of finally finding a decent MMO. Well, i'll play a while further and hope the later parts get better but i really, really hate MMOs that are "You have to reach max level, then it gets good".

Well, i only got to level 10 until i got bored of the events. A while ago they showcased some end game events that looked interesting, ghost ship, giant dragon and stuff, but if all the events until then are like the early game events i can't be bothered getting there. Maybe tomorrow after a good nights rest i can see the game in a better light, but i doubt it. Boring events, uninteresting combat, weak story and PvP doesn't look much better. I so hoped it would be even remotely like Guild Wars 1 ![]()

You haven't even got anywhere in your personal story quest line, or tried out either of the pvp types but you have already determined its a wow clone and a generic grind mmo? Please teach me your magical seer skills good sir.

So you are saying i first have to get through a lot of boredom so i can find interesting parts like in WoW? I already had to grind to continue my personal story... "next quest is recommended for level 10, oh, i'm level 8, time to run around trying to find another 5 boring events." Guild Wars was great from the start, GW2 didn't manage to show anything good in 5 or so hours. I don't see any reason to conrinue playing it.

Apparently the game wants you to grind, because the level recommendation for each part of the story line increases pretty fast. So you have to grind around in the one area where you can, do the same generic events over and over..I'm not going to judge the whole game based on this but so far it's been kind of underwhelming to say the least.

When i first started beta 1 i was pretty dissapointed (quite a few pages back i expressed why) moost of the dynamic events didnt change the world in any meaningful way and even ones that did reset every 10 minutes or so so their impact would become null and void within half an hour as a different outcome would come as the event got repeated by a different group of people. Also i really feel that their is a grind in this game, grinding events is no different then grinding quests, the only difference i see is that alot of times in a zone, i will end up repeating the same events multiple times, where as when you quest its usually alwlays new quests unless your doing repeatable quests. Anyways about half way through beta 1 i started to enjoy the different parts of the game as more interesting events came about etc. I hope the same thing happens here, but im still skeptical. It seems (at least in the human area) that they added some more events which is nice but the area im in on my norn (diessa plateau) ive probably done each event ive run into twice and none of them have been that interesting. Like Ive said in the past, putting a progress bar instead of a number doesnt change the fact that your still basically doing a Kill X number of, activity. And in all honesty id prefer to be just killing stuff over picking up cow poo and catching bugs, so I wish they would stick with more action oriented events. Dont get me wrong i enjoy the game and intend to play it, i just think they hyped it up as something that it really isnt. The maniphesto they made inspired me when i first saw it, now i see it as kind of a joke. I mean i can see where they where going with it, i just dont really think they got there.
