I kind of wanted a reply to this. Does anyone know?

Noone knows because they haven't said anything about it, but since the keys were just for CBT1 it's safe to assume they were just for CBT1. But just pre-order from amazon or something, then cancel the pre-order when you've got the key and you'll have access to all betas for free.

Gametrics is updated daily. So yes, Tera could be #2 one day and #10 the other day, depending on updates and such. Gamenote is weekly.
Gametrics also publishes a monthly ranking. Rankings seem to be about the same on both websites. The Gamenote weekly puts TERA at #9 for this week. Overall this does seem to indicate a downward trend in TERA playtime, but thanks for the clarification on gametrics being daily and having fluctuation in the rankings. PS - Did you kill TERA, Milkis?
2.2% is a lot.
That's still more than everyone who plays SC2 in Korea.
Okay, that's not so much.
But anyway, you'll have to see how well it does after their patch is live, cause it'll spike after that. It's a question whether or not they manage to keep their users.
EDIT: one more thing, in order to say it has a "downward trend" you have to be purchasing the data to see anything, since it doesnt show you anything below 10 other than monthly ratings

Right. I also would clarify that I also want TERA to succeed, as obvious by my continued presence on this thread. However the game has glaring faults well criticized by the community and nothing is more dangerous than neglecting it. Still, NA release seem to be somewhat independent from KTera and with upcoming patch maybe we'll see some of the problems getting fixed here.

I kinda went ahead and started playing ktera after the first NA beta, couldn't wait two weeks lol. I was quite surprised at the lacking number of new players for Tera. This might just be the server I am on though, 엘리온 Elyon.

So after browsing diablo 3 sites out of boredom i came across this. Apparently you can just get in the beta for free and it seems to have worked for a few people. In case anyone was interested.

If anyone is interested in getting into the Tera Beta, here is a helpful hint to guarantee you get in.
Step 1: Amazon.com Step 2: Create and account or log into your exsisting account. Step 3: Look up Tera Step 4: Pre-order using a Debit or Credit card (don't worry, they dont charge till it ships) Step 5: Open your email, get confirmation, and wait 2-3 more minutes, Amazon will send you a beta key for pre-ordering Step 6: Copy the beta key Step 7: http://tera.enmasse.com/ Step 8: Create an account Step 9: Click "Enter Code" on the right hand side. Step 10: Enter code, get confirmation Step 11: download game, log in, patch. Step 12: Amazon.com again, go to my account, view orders, click Tera Step 13: Cancel Order, Enjoy the beta.

Hopefully they don't patch in the dungeon group finder tool / instant teleport to instance, this would surely be a down fall to PvP servers on Tera.

I hope they just don't make penalties for mass PVP like in other games
The worst one is there they force you to kill monsters to reduce your PVP penalties, like seriously? Forcing people to PVE on a PVP server cause they did too much PVP is insane
I'd prefer it the other way around, where you get bonuses for killing lots of random people ^_^

The way you describe it makes it sound like you get punished for pvping which is probably not the case in most games. In Lineage 2 for example you got penalized for killing people that didn't fight back by making you work off your karma points and that wasn't a bad system at all.
People should fear a penalty for running around and pking everyone because the game would be unplayable otherwise.

How would the game be unplayable?
Considering EME's first idea of OWPvP system was to have a penalty implace for killing people and after killing a certain number your character got a debuff. They changed this a no penalty system for the second beta (first Euro), due to the backlash on the forums.

Augh, so there's two more servers that are PvP.
are we jumping to the PvP servers?
|
I did not know that but the idea of people being able to kill anyone without any consequences other than player interaction seems bland and will just make a) people leave the game because it's annoying/hard to lvl a char and b) it just gets boring oneshotting lowbies and try to kill people that are doing things that don't involve pvp.
Imo there should be a mutual consent to pvping, like flagging (ie hitting back) otherwise it's just PKing and that just gets old soon unless you're some evil bastard x).
It just seems like the idea of penalties is being received way worse than it would actually be.
|
Have you actually played a decent OWPvP game? Penalties for people pking wouldnt deter all PKing because there would be no point at all. I don't even like the idea they are currently giving a try in the CB2 which is no reward/no conquences. If you want consent PvPing, play a PvE server, it is just that simple. This game needs a reward base system that actually pushes players to OWPvP(No, I am not suggesting FULL loot). The only way this game will last in the "long" run is if it establishes this.
|
On the contrary
I think instead of giving penalties for pking, they should give REWARDS for doing it. You should get buffs for being manly and raping the shit out of as many people as possible, and pvp should be actively encouraged
Maybe yeah, you get no reward for killing lower levels or w/e and more rewards for killing the same or above but i think it should be a system that encourages pvp rather than deter it.
I mean, you should give rewards to people that protect others in pvp aswell, and then this encourages more and more people to pvp and it's better
|
Wow wow wow... lol lets back up a bit. Rewards is one thing but buffing people for killing others. That may be pushing it a bit because you are basically buffing the "better" player who won the fight, making it even harder to kill him.
By rewards I mean, gold, potions, ingredients, gear(from their inventory not from what they're wearing). Sort of thing.

It just seems like the idea of penalties is being received way worse than it would actually be. The penalties were just way too harsh. You got like 10 infamy points per kill of people the same level as you, and here's the old/KTERA penalties.
1-100 points: minor penalties (condition depletes a bit faster, 2x chance crystals break, unable to benefit from rest exp). 100-1000 points: medium penalties (condition depletes faster, 3x chance crystals break, attack power decreased by 50%, movement speed by 15%, unable to benefit from rest exp, teleporter and pegasus cannot be used). 1000+: major penalties (condition depletes extremely fast, 5x chance crystals break, power decreased by 90%, defense by 75%, movement speed by 30%, teleporter and pegasus cannot be used).
Don't really have to explain why those debuffs are a horrible idea.
But I still think there should be some rules so new players or players that are behind the initial "wave" to 58(60) won't all quit and to keep it all more interesting. I just don't think this no rule plan will work at all in the long run even though it will be cool the first month or so.
|
Yea i agree that is harsh.
Again a Lineage 2 example (I just love that game's pvp system) you got karma points and would drop valuable items including your armors and weapon if you got killed and a big red name which everyone could see from a mile away. That made it so that people were still bothering eachother but in most cases would prevent all out killing just randomly everyone. Ofcourse you had higher lvl chars stripped down to nothing than starter gear in lower zones killing people but it was more of an event that way instead of legions of bored high lvls that decide to just go kill some lowbies (because thats what no rules will lead to)

Pre-ordered a few days ago from the enmasse store, still no key. I hope I get it before the weekend...
