It's kind of strange fact of human life, I know, but when you express criticism in a mature, respectful fashion, people tend to be a lot more willing to listen to it. Perhaps they're calming down. But the DRM shit is hilarious.

When asked about people thinking it was a console games he talked about graphics and stuff and not about controls which was what people obviously were talking about. When asked why he thought many people liked Dragon Age: Origins more and if they should forget the whole "spiritual successor to Baldurs gate" he talked about the story in the game when people were obviously talking about the gameplay. Either Bioware have given up making WRPGs and we will never see one again or they have forgotten what their owns strengths were. Bioware is dead to me. Well ME2 was pretty much gutted of all the RPG elements, but it was still a very well done and polished game, even more so than the first one. If you are going to distill a game down to a very basic level it has to be a really polished experience. DA2 was the opposite, they narrowed the scope of the game drastically then half assed everything else along with it. I would love a new BG2 but I don't think it will ever happen. Bioware had their KOTOR formula of intro -> 4 destinations -> conclusion, and the natural progression of it seems to be this story driven interactive action-adventure type ME2/DA2 style. They keep going further and further away from another BG

I have the game for the 360 and PC already. Yes priated. The combat is garbage. I've beaten the 360 version, simply because if I'm going to be bored to death I might as well be on a couch. The PC version has ZERO added depth or strategy. At least with DA:O the PC version was indeed different in some way. On the 360 it's Spam AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (TAP X) AAAAAAAAAAAAA. On the PC it's click one and wait for the mob to die while the attrocious 'gambit' system does the work for you. Or you can tap one of 3 hot keys. If it's even needed. The dialogue is child-like. There are no actual moral choices. It's either saint or snarky prick, but you're ALWAYS a positive person to someone. I never had to heal on normal difficulty. All the quests are wow-like. There are ZERO major story arcs. It's just piddly small get this, grab that, fast travel quests. Everything is a one room hub. There is no "world". You can't simply walk from one end to the other. You exit a room and instantly go to a fast travel map. There is no time of day, you switch to "night" from the fast travel menu. There are only 5-6 actual enemies. 3 are straight from DA:O. They have way too much HP. It's like playing dynasty warriors. Magic is bullshit. Same stuff. Tap XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. And for the single AOE spell you get it's a wow-like hovering circle. Most of the aoe spells are worthless. The gear has been 'mass effected'. It's all worthless. I changed my weapon and armor 2 times through the whole game. There was one quest to track down this epic armor set... that just happened to be in chest along the main story path. I have a rogue in my party that can't pick locks above the easiest level. I can't upgrade his ability in anyway. Ever. Zero ties to the previous game. Regardless of the intro quest or the save imports. All that is affected is a brief mentioning of the past character. The voice acting is amazing. However the presentation is horribly cheese-tastic. It's ZOMG DRAGONS!?!?! Every 2 minutes. Every character is extrordinarily generic or overly all-encompasingly powerful. I have 3 mages, and all of them can perform the same things. None of them are interesting characters. Same thing with the fighters. Some of the quests are just retarded. You can walk right up to a templar with a party FULL of mages, fight a battle WITH him spewing ilegal magic left and right and there is no mention that you are an apostate. No dungeon has more than 3 rooms or takes more than 5 minutes to clear. It's mindless. I feel like I'm just grinding wow levels. Grab quest, pick the "level" of dialogue I want (there are 3, saint, snarky, and jerk) to be consistant, and fetch the item. Rinse repeat. I don't care about the characters or the world. Just getting through this abomination. It's utter garbage. Bioware is dead.

Someone never bothered to read what the stats do. Lock picking is based on your cunning score, so if you never raise it you will never be able to open locked chests. It even says exactly that when you hover over the Cunning stat.

Oh, so he's a self-absorbed dickhole who pirates new games because just taking the thing back after being frustrated with it is too much work. I have to question anyone's personal integrity who spouts out such nonsense like "if it was good, I would have bought it". How exactly is he sticking it to the man here? He didn't even pay for it to begin with. Good start. The dialogue is child-like. There are no actual moral choices. It's either saint or snarky prick, but you're ALWAYS a positive person to someone. No moral choices? I don't even know where to start with that one. + Show Spoiler + Killing or releasing an unfortunate boy/demon infested nutcase isn't a moral choice? Slaughtering a group of apostate Mages or helping to free them isn't a moral choice? Giving the loot over to Pryce to let him escape, or sending him back into a life of crime to gain more personal influence isn't a moral choice? Give me a frigging break. Of COURSE you're always a positive person to someone. The game world isn't black and white. The moral choices aren't Light-side Jedi vs Dark-side Sith. You aren't either a baby-murdering nutcase or Jesus Christ in battle armour. People complain about the over-simplification of the game-world and seem to keep forgetting this little tidbit. What, should we just go back to the crappy Baldur's Gate moral system where you always want to be the good guy, hunting down how to get the most reputation points, motivated purely in getting the cheapest merchant prices or keeping as close as possible to your romance option's preferred alignment? Come the frick on. I never had to heal on normal difficulty. Didn't have to heal on Normal? Maybe you should try ramping up the difficulty, or take Aveline out of the party. Nah. Way too much work. I totally agree on the mini-arcs side of it, of course. Some like it, some don't. I thought those were the better parts of games like BG1 and 2, personally. The main story was literally the LAST thing I would do after I'd explored all of the different areas and completed all the mini-arcs and dungeons. That was a much more entertaining part of the game. The rail-road storyline part was just that, a rail-road. I care more about short stories, whose outcomes affects the other short stories in the game. However, switching from day to night...how exactly would you like that to happen? Stand around for 20 minutes waiting for the sun to pass? Click some Fallout3-esque UI option that sends time forward? I guess that could have worked, but this is just different. Just like fast-forwarding time in Fallout has no real effect on the story (character's will stand around for days waiting for you), so will it in DA2. It's just a UI mechanism. Pretty lame complaint. There are only 5-6 actual enemies. 3 are straight from DA:O. They have way too much HP. It's like playing dynasty warriors. Enemies have way too much HP? I can't be reading that right because it sounds like he wants to play Diablo where you 1 or 2-shot everything. Isn't that why were supposed to be hating DA2? Magic is bullshit. Same stuff. Tap XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. And for the single AOE spell you get it's a wow-like hovering circle. Most of the aoe spells are worthless. AOE spells worthless? What is this guy smoking? Chain Lightning, Tempest, Sleep, Miasmic Flask, Scythe, all of these things are awesome, useful and powerful. I don't get it. Wow-like hovering circles? Are you kidding me? What other kind of UI feedback method is there to explain how "giant fireball is going to blow up this many bad guys"? Idiot. The gear has been 'mass effected'. It's all worthless. I changed my weapon and armor 2 times through the whole game. There was one quest to track down this epic armor set... that just happened to be in chest along the main story path. I'm changing my weapons and armour constantly, probably because I'm taking the time to look at it. Maybe the DLC stuff is more powerful in Normal, because I've already thrown it out the window at level 7. If anything they haven't got anywhere close to "Mass Effected" because in ME2, you pick up one gun, and now everyone has it. Hell, I LIKED that part of ME2. I wanted to try out Fenris last night, in place of Carver, so I had to create a party and swap crap between them. Then, when I didn't like him (partly his personality, and partly because dragging the mage-hating elf, while I'm a Mage-loving Mage could be somewhat difficult) I had to do it all over again. Pain in the butt, but then its not like you can have ten versions of "2-handed DragonSlayer XL" to throw around the party when needed. That would just be dumb, so I deal with it. I have a rogue in my party that can't pick locks above the easiest level. I can't upgrade his ability in anyway. Ever. Dumbass can't read tooltips. It's been mentioned to me, like 4 or 5 times, through splash screen tooltips and tutorials that CUNNING affects lock-picking, and it goes in steps of 10. 10 = simple, 20 = standard and so on. Zero ties to the previous game. Regardless of the intro quest or the save imports. All that is affected is a brief mentioning of the past character. Granted. It's a completely different, isolated story from DA:O. Either you like it, or you hate it. Just getting through this abomination. It's utter garbage. Bioware is dead. Got to admit, he's got me on the apostate thing. That's something that feels incredibly shoe-horned in to prevent complications. + Show Spoiler + When you meet Cullen and help him fight demons, wouldn't he be pretty acutely aware of you being an Apostate? But, the rest is just sad. He doesn't want a grind, but the dungeons, the quint-essential 'place chock-full of the same types of enemies' only take 5 minutes to clear, while each dungeon has a totally different set of enemies...conflict-much? He also pretends like the dialogue options aren't having an effect on the story, when in reality most of them carry through the whole thing. The whole tirade is just more over-exaggeration in light of disappointment. I guess for some people there's just black and white. Its not BG2, therefore its crap.

Whatever mechanics are going to be in it are already decided and implemented. Does Bioware have the balls to throw dirt on a great franchise like ME as well? Im going hoping it is great but after this im expecting a half made game with loads of DLC, repetitive enviroments, simplified combat and really good conversations. tbh i dont have that much fear for me3. the game is a totally different story atleast for me. its more like a well done movieish action adventure. i dont expect it too be super deep or something. i just want it to be well done and polished with some choices and good voice acting/characters (loved the professor guy and good body language overall). given that they have more time for it and that i doubt they will change much of the concept of me2 it should be fine. just hope they get rid of the stupid planet farming and vehicle missions /edit oh no bigdy is back. can we please ignore him this time so we dont have another 3 pages where he argues with evryone how awesome the game is?

For someone who dislikes the game, you're spending an awful lot of time discussing it. What's your motivation exactly? To convince everyone to stop enjoying a game? Do you intend to stop them at the counter and make their purchasing decisions for them, too?

Story seems decent so far, nightmare is hard, as it should be... People are such spoiled crybabies, btw. The amount of whine I have seen in this thread is never justified. If I don't like a game, oh well. It's not because developers hate me and because the franchise is "ruined".

My motivation is to balance out the childish complaining about here with some basic common sense. Its a good game and I'd hate for people not to pick it up because they heard from some idiots on the internet that they shouldn't buy it because its not 100% perfect. Ignore Bibdy.. he's one of those bioware fanboys that enjoys spending his cash on crappy DLC. Oh wow. That really hurt. Oh wait. It didn't.

I've admitted its faults several times in this thread. Its not a perfect game, by any stretch of the imagination. I'd give it an 8. To go into some rage-filled tantrum and give it anything lower than a 6 is immensely childish. Unlike you, I'm capable of rational judgement. Lots of good things in column A have little bearing on a few bad things in column B. In your case, you seem to want to look at the few bad things in column B and flat-out ignore all the good things in column A. Its quite sad.
