thats more of an ea thing then a bioware thing, if you actually read it.

still absolutely ludicrous.

How is it more of an EA thing? They are banning people from playing SINGLE PLAYER GAMES for saying anything bad about their games or getting banned otherwise.

That's unforgiveable.

since reading comprehesion apparently isn't your forte ill explain that it says that the bans that could get you locked out of games come from EA COMMUNITIES. WHICH IS A DIFFERENT DEPARTMENT.

my first thought was that this couldnt be legal. but my second thought was of course it is. you dont buy the game, you buy a license to play the game, a license that is subject to the terms and conditions set forth by the publisher. locking you out of a paid for game is truly one of the dumbest things a publisher could do, but apparently they feel justified in doing this.

It's an EA thing because that's what the Bioware employee states underneath the rectangled part, their forum rules are part of a greater whole. Ofcourse it's absolutely immensely stupid for a ban of an online forum to affect a single player game, sounds like a kneejerk reaction to forum troll outbursts.

Stan Woo works for Bioware, so it's kinda inaccurate to call it an EA thing when a Bioware employee is basically saying "yes we can and will ban you from playing games and DLC you bought if we disagree with what you said on the forum"

At first I thought you were justifying them doing this, but now I'm not sure.

I understand they can LEGALLY do this. What I dont understand is why the fuck they are, considering it's the biggest dick move ever. I can sort of understand too if it was multiplayer, but it's SINGLE PLAYER ONLY.

Way to alienate your entire community Bioware. And yes, it is a bioware thing considering it's a bioware employee on a bioware forum on a bioware website.

I see much worse things get said on the Battlefield forums and no one gets banned from playing the games for forum posts. They are clearly having some sort of meltdown over the public's reaction to DA2. They are even claiming all the negativity is the result of "4chan trolls"

If you read the post it states that the Bioware moderator bans do not affect your games, but the REPORT POST bans do, because they are handled by the EA community department, which a larger encompassing thing. I don't like Bioware's handling of DA:2 (forum and game) but I feel this is more EA being retarded than them (and EA is always super retarded).

Blaming shit on 4chan is always a fallback for internet communities if something bad happens.

People didn't like their game. It's as simple as that. People associate 4chan with /b/ for some reason. The other boards for the most part are just fine and dandy. I remember when I used to go to /v/ when DA:O was released. They fucking hated it, there were threads everywhere bashing it for sucking compared to Baldurs Gate 2. Yet, it had 4000+ metacritic reviews over a 9.0. Yet DA2 has almost 600 of 2.0's. So they call it a 4chan raid.

I finally got to play the game for a couple of hours and I find it impossible to immerse myself to the story. The pacing of the game just seems off and I feel like I'm just grinding through mission after mission.

For people who are deep into DA2, did you find it more enjoyable further into the game? And are you confined within Kirkwall for the majority of the time?

1) The entire game is in Kirkwall pretty much
2) Prepare to see Cave A or B or House, or Pathway, etc. about 15-20 times over and over again.

Just finished the game on hard mode without skipping dialogs and stuff. I messed up some talent trees with inefficient abilities/buffs spells, I'm sure I could go through nightmare if I start the game over. Thrown away like 2/5 of my talent points on useless abilities. I'll list some pros and cons from my exp as warrior berserker.

Pros:
- Nice and smooth graphics (very high)
- Sarcastic dialog option made me laugh so many times
- Gameplay
- Nice talent trees + variation of ability/buffs/spells

Cons:
- Reuse of maps was :S
- "Grindy"
- Storyline was mediocre
- Dialog choices do not have enough impact on the main character development (go for sarcastic option every time, at least you'll get a good laugh out of it).

My group mostly consisted of 2 dps warrior and 2 mages (+50% speed + healing).
If you want some nice dps out of your dps warrior I'd suggest berserker tree with +50% speed. The 2 mage speed group buffs (chain one after another) + 2 dps warriors with 2-handers = epic dps. For the people about to start with the game as warrior dps main char. The "green" talent tree is a must (the one with second wind and other stamina recovering abilities). Often you'll find yourself without any stamina for your abilities on longer battles if you don't go for stamina/mana recovery abilities. Also I'd stay away from vendor weapons and armor, there are lots of decent drops throughout the game. I found 2 nice necklaces which I went all the way to endgame with (one gives better loot other one has extra coin drop).

Overall I'd score the game 7.9/10 (mostly due to some epic sarcastic dialogs)
Otherwise it would be like 6.5/10

unbelievable.. banning people for having an opinion.. this will be the last game I buy from Bioware. Blizzard has my utmost respect.

This is the reason why they take so damn long releasing a game. They make sure they get it right by taking their time doing betas and listening to feedback from the community.

http://music.ign.com/articles/115/1154594p1.html

EA really wanted to capitalize on the success of Origins, so the game was really being pushed hard to be released now.

I don't even know how anyone could defend this POS now. Its really clear that EA is essentially just exploiting its fanbase without any kind of consideration for customers.

Hmm, let me think. This year I've played Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2, one excellent game and one great game. Yeah I think I can remember when Bioware was good.

This game is fun, but I'm still disappointed. Not disappointed because it's a "bad" game or for any of the reasons I've read, although I've only read a few pages of this thread.

The more recent games: DAO, DA2, ME, ME2, they just don't feel EPIC and their storylines aren't that exciting, even when they're decent. I really enjoyed ME2 but I was really let down when the game ended -- I was like, is this it?

I hold everything to what I think is perhaps an impossible standard in today's game creation world - Baldur's Gate 2. I mean yeah, things like DAO's storyline are """epic""", but BG2 was epic as fuck. Bastard child of a God, traveling all over the place, hours and hours and hours of sidequests that were just as epic as the main story, dragons, vampires, drow, dwarves, giants, golems, all that shit. Tons of variation in how to play, tons of NPCs, tons of customization in every aspect. Not only is it extremely epic but the background and fleshing out of the story is also extremely detailed.

When you juxtapose the storyline and the NPC interaction and the sheer amount of writing that went into a game like BG2 with ME2 then ME2 just pales by comparison. I realize it's not fair but BG2 really was the epitome of RPGs for me and even though I enjoy the FPS aspect and the storyline of ME2 or DAO, it's fun but it's short and it's not as immersive or interesting for me. I really enjoyed DAO, I thought it was really fun, but in BG2 EVERYTHING has lore, story, and epic shit attached to it.

Maybe it's because BG2 was based on the "Forgotten Realms" universe, and had a huge amount of background story to pick and choose from, but it's also definitely because there was more effort put into the story aspect. Nowadays if your game has hours of reading in it, it just won't sell.

Yeah, of course games that have long hours of reading wont sell. No, it has nothing to do with gamers today being dumb or stupid or uneducated, it's just gamers today want fun. Games are supposed to be fun. Reading isn't fun, period.

Well you know it's cool when you attack me for something I didn't say but I have to rebut that you're kind of stupid.

I still think it may be an EA thing. I mean, remember when they said that they wouldn't send reviewers copies of their games if they wrote bad reviews for whatever game last year?

That is pretty damn ridiculous. It's like they're promoting the piracy of their own game -_-

Ooh the irony. He got banned because it's out of the hands of Bioware and they are forced to be under the EA umbrella.

Did anyone else see the comment Kennigit made in the thread he closed about this? That guy will always stay a kid, I guess. Well, always better than Rekrul I guess. EA should hire some TL moderators. Will help clean out this place. A new purge is needed for sure.

Yes you are confined within Kirkwall apart from the quests from Coasts / Mines / Sundermount... I liked the combat aspect of the game and the lore (well I played DA 1), however I find the game too rushed out, and as usual, commercialized by EA (nothing new about that.., hopefully DLCs will make it worth my while.)
