It shouldn't be used at all. That's the point. There is NO reason to lower your helmet between an opposing player's shoulder blades, other than trying to injure him. And I don't see how it could be used any less than what it was used. He led with it.

NFL, by getting more hits on their sites.

Looks like a pretty standard crown of the helmet into the bottom of the facemask hit. Helmet to helmet, leading with the helmet, and he draws a bigger fine because he has a reputation of being a dirty player (unnecessary roughness penalties in both 2008 and 2009). Looks pretty open and shut to me.

Thank you again. With someone who doesn't have a bad rep already, I don't really see that hit being something worth a fine. : /

Oh that Sims hit is just dumb because he's no where near the ball at any time. I would hope a hit like that would never get fined if he had the ball...

Pryor also got fined for giving Farve a boo boo on his chin.

I hate metacafe so much. It takes forever to load, so I leave the page, and by the time I get back, the video is done, and there is no replay button.

Yeah, I didn't want that to sound like I was complaining to you, or about your choice. It was really just a general comment on metacafe.

So will Childress get canned this season??

So will Childress get canned this season?? I think he's gone after the season, same as Phillips. Cowboys and Vikings both have issues, but there's no way they should be as bad as they are with the talent on their rosters.

So will Childress get canned this season?? Probably. High expectations coming into the season + Vikings not doing well despite the division not playing particularly well + poor handling of the Randy Moss situation (from what I understand, the owner was pretty pissed about it). From what I understand, Childress wasn't given much credit for last season either.
Pretty much the only ways he keeps his job are: 1. the Vikings make a miraculous turnaround 2. there is a work stoppage and the Vikings ownership doesn't want to pay someone else to do nothing for half a season while still paying Childress because coaching contracts are guaranteed.

How can he not get fired? Even if the Vikes somehow make the playoffs, I really don't see how he keeps his job.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but he is in charge of personnel moves, and the Randy Moss move was such a colossal failure that Minnesota simply cannot keep him, and as just a coach Chilly is pretty god awful.

Dunta Robinson got a fine for pretty much the same thing that Sims did. Although, Robinson hit whoever he hit in the chest.
Edit: I hope Randy Moss tears it up in Tennessee so that the Vikings have even more reason to fire Childress.

Childress is a bottom five coach in the league right now. I'm not sure how he kept his job after the '08 season, then with his seat white hot, Favre laid a golden egg for him, and kept him around for another year. I can't see any logical reason to keep Childress around.
|
Childress is absolutely gone after the season.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5768760
It has been reported that after the Patriots game Moss told Vikings owner [Zygi Wilf] that Childress is not a good coach. Unless Vikings make the playoffs I don't see him around next season. Childress is really a bad coach, predictable play-calling, conservative style, bone-head calls, bad adjustments during half-time have really shown how incapable he is at the head coaching position. Not to mention NONE of the players even respect him and he got down on his knees to beg Brett Favre to play for the team, I just don't see him being around when you have a great DC in Leslie Frazier ready to take over.
|
Yeah there is absolutely no way either Phillips or Childress are around next year. I'm absolutely shocked that Wade is STILL in Dallas.
|
After this year, if the haven't fire him yet, Wade will be gone.
I mean, they are doing worse than the lions, any team doing worse than the lions needs to reevaluate their coaching staff.
|
Lions are actually a really talented team with the best D-lineman since Reggie White, Megatron, #1 pick Matt Stafford and other pro-bowl FA pickups from this off-season.
Want to know something interesting? Lions actually have almost twice as many recorded sacks and the Jets.
