Yeah griefers are a big problem in multiplayer as well. Last night I was playing on a non-TL server, and some guy came and set a forest fire which lagged out the server, and blew up everybody's creations with TNT. Some people just want to see the world burn

I don't think there's any way other then to dig. However, I know there's a trick where you can use Cartograph (Mapping & Mods area of the official MC forums) to map the locations of all cobblestone on the map, and then overlay it onto a Cartograph-generated map of the world.

There's no way to get a map in-game (people will oftentimes use giant arrows in the sky, etc to mark the location of their buildings for an easy way to get back), though theres a couple programs on the forums (i.e. Cartograph) that can generate a map for you. Notch created http://www.minecraft.net/infdev/preview.jsp to allow people to view an overview "map" of their levels, but he hasn't yet updated it for alpha.

Tip of the day - navigate by the sun during the day, and the moon and stars during night.

1. In my first game i found like 3 treasure rooms, they were near greenish rocks but i havn't found any this game? What should i be looking for, i've found heaps of diamonds and that red shit but no treasure rooms :S Those are very rare, and there's no real way of pinpointing them. If you find a huge mine system, chances are you might run into one, but then again, chances are also huge that you'll fall into a pit of lava and burn to death instead.
On August 05 2010 15:38 eSen1a wrote:2. Is there a way to get a map or something? I built a house to store my shit in chests and then i lost my house :S:S:S There is a cartographer mod which renders an overview of your save file, should be available at the mod subforum of www.minecraftforum.net.
Otherwise, make landmarks or try to navigate by the sun, moon and stars - they always dawn in "west", cross the heaven straight above your character and sets on the other side, "east", so just watch for the sun movement during day, or moon / star movement during night.
On August 05 2010 15:38 eSen1a wrote:3. can u get a flashlight? lol i keep running outa torches t_t No flashlight or anything like that yet, sorry. I suppose you could bring a bucket of lava and toss it out from time to time, then recollect it, but I guess that'd be impractical (and deadly) at times. You should just bring a stack of planks instead, since you can make sticks and torches without a workshop, just using the fourslot inventory combine.

thanks!

Oh man I just hit the jackpot cave. Took me roughly two and a half hours to get everything and find my way out, left with 200 coal and 50 iron, barely any enemies too. Honestly surprised there wasn't any gold considering how large and deep the mine was.
Anyone know where to get red mushrooms? In that cave I found a dozen brown ones but they don't seem to do anything without the soup.
|
wtf guys, now ima have to install oblivion and beat it again, cus i cant afford 10 usd, but i cud if it was canadian, doY! lol....
|
Red mushrooms I think you can find under trees. At least I do anyway.

Finally started discovering the fun of powered mine carts and redstone switch system. Should have a pretty nice train depot up tomorrow!
|
So I started up a game after reading this thread and more about the game. My god is this game amazing. I have a deep as mine (goes to the bottom of the world) and I found a large layer of obsidian which I cant even mine yet.
But the real project has been my towering. So far there is a tower over my house, another tower by the beach you can see from the house, a tower on a island, a tower as far as you can see from the beach tower inland, and two more towers spaced as far apart as possible for sight going out into the distance.
So thats 5 towers lined up for exploring and not getting lost.
Mine tracks will come later connecting all the towers together.

I just figured out how to save and load multiplayer creative (free) levels, and my friends and I have gotten massively addicted to building our own world.
I'm trying to resist spending more money, but I think I may cave and get the survival alpha version this weekend since they have multiplayer. Is it as easy to save and load multiplayer survival sessions?
Also is there a way to not deal with monsters in general? Kind of defeats the purpose of survival, I know, but it'd be fun to just mine, build, and explore with friends.
EDIT: I know its nitpicky, but can the OP edit the price to be more accurately ~$13. It's 9.99 Euros. Also, I googled my problem (sorry for not doing it before hand) and I found out about peaceful mode. That just about sold it for me.
|
Honestly, it's worth it if you're going to play that much seeing as Notch updates pretty often when he's not on vacation.
|
If you're gonna buy it, buy it as soon as possible. Because Notch said that as soon as the game hits beta he's doubling the price. And according to my bank account, I paid $8.30 USD for this game. Sweet!
|
Yeah I just got it. Good stuff.
I joined a server where typing !stone and !water would give you the respective blocks, does anyone know how to enable this, in multiplayer and singleplayer?
|
I can't seem to connect to the TL server, are you guys using the standard download to connect to it?
|
Ehh, yeah the server is down at the moment. I'm at my parrents for a few days and dont like to have my computer on for 3 days without me there.
|
on multiplayer survivor are there monsters?
