PoE and D3 both don't look like they are from this decade. PoE at least has some lighting and shaders of modern games but pretty unimpressive art design. D3 is a game from like 2007 (minimal use of shaders / why are the textures on my character worse than WoW?) but has very good art design.

Not a criticism or complaint, but it always amuses me when people suggest Anti-Aliasing for graphics improvements (or complain when a game doesn't allow for it). I certainly understand why it's easier than creating smooth models and textures, and why it could largely save graphics processing if done correctly...but it's still very much like recommending slightly wrong prescription glasses to "see better".

Well I found that D3 without AA is just a jagged mess. But to honest I think the game looks good for an ARPG.

I've got kind of a dumb question.
I first played D3 at launch and then (as many people did) quit after about a month.
I've recently came back to the game and I am enjoying it a ton. However, I remember a lot of people got hacked in the early days and got all their gold and items stolen. Does this still happen? Has Blizzard patched it successfully because I remember it was ridiculous how many people got robbed lol.

as far as i know this is no longer an issue. they've got some troubles with duped items and ppl getting angry because their account got banned. if this was still a concern, it would be well visible in blizz forums, no?

No intelligent player will ever get hacked. Only idiots get hacked who are to stupid to get a different password for forums/bnet. 99% of "Hacks" are because the retards use the same password on a forum which DB with accountinfo gets hacked.
I played WoW from 2005-2009 and never got hacked. In D3 not either.

PoE looks fine. It has its own gritty art style and more mature take on the arpg genre. It's true that Diablo 3 is far more impressive in the graphics department from a technical pov, but then again Blizzard is a multi billion dollar company and GGG is a very small indie team (plus PoE is free to play and D3 is not, far from it).
At the end of the day gameplay is what truly matters in an online game, and this is where PoE makes D3 look absolutely childish.

PoE isn't the prettiest out there but it seems they had chosen this artstyle to evoke memories of Diablo 2. Even the way I hit with a melee class feels very similar to D2 (not so much a fan of that I might add, I prefer ranged classes for that reason).
ANd it IS very atmospheric. I think you should give the game an actual chance. Is it better then D3? I'm not sure. the game sure is a lot slower then D3. It is free to play though with a good and fair business model.

I like TL2 quite a lot myself but the whole non server side character thing kinda kills it for me. People can easily cheat in that game which makes it feel like playing the game legitimately has far less of a purpose. Why invest a lot of time into your character(s) if someone can just use a trainer and gain the same thing in 5 minutes.

That's a solution to not paying I guess. Too bad this model basically invalidates any HC character as it may have already died in the past.

a few months ago, i re-installed d2 to try it out again. i couldn't handle the graphics and clunky feel of the game after playing d3. this is obviously just a personal preference, but i dont want to play a game that is not visually appealing. i felt the same way about sc:bw after i installed the sc2 beta. i played sc:bw since 1998, and never went back. i have watched kripp play poe for quite awhile and feel no interest in playing the game.

I haven't seen any pay-to-rez offers on their website. Sending bags full of SC loot back to the HC server sounds anathema to their obsession with the game economy. Is there a real source to Aceace's claim, or is it just another secondhand one-liner?
