Server shut down
|
Sunday afternoon - Service Update
ee han timing!
|
So was the server shutdownn they did now planned in advance or? Was on diablo, and get the a 3 minute warning, that is just silly. Good thing it wasn't with a HC character....
|
All this server bullshitting is why I'm not starting a HC character anytime soon. If there'll ever be a time where the servers aren't bullshit, I can play without lag constantly and I don't have to be afraid of disconnecting/random bullshit. Then I'll consider going hardcore.

edit: HC Solo ain't too bad, it always sort of pauses once it lags (atleast feels so to me, if it doesn't you can pause yourself or just quit the game). although i have no idea what happens if you get disced while in combat.

it's not that the Servers are shut down. I think it's just a login issue (as far as i know). People who were already logged in can still play

15% diablo hell
server shutdown. that is really lame

Just got kicked out of battlenet dammit ...

My problem is their entire paradigm shift towards loot farming that is so unlike diablo 2, it's not even in the same genre. It's basically become a pseudo-MMO, and more stingy then the stingiest korean MMOs.
For those that don't know, diablo 2 loot farming was essentially boss farming, you made a game, teleported to way point ran through the zone, boss, fight, loot, good? no, ok go again. You could do this rapidly and without much grief. Maybe this doesn't sound fun to you, but diablo 2 drops are extremely rare, it's not like WoW where the boss has a loot table and 20% of the items you might want and will drop, 20% of the time. Because of this rarity in drops it was nice that runs could be quick and efficient. You have 30m before school? Why not run mepth 5-6 times, roll the dice. All was well.
Now we have Diablo 3 pseudo-mmo style. Diablo 3 FORCES you to clear trash, you can't just skip and fight a nice boss fight. Bosses are irrelevent sacks of shit that are generally some of the easiest fights in the game (another qualm I have). There is no reason for you to ever do a boss run again in Diablo 3, UNLESS you want to spend 1-2 hours gathering up 5 Nephalem Valor buffs (A magic find and bonus loot buff for slaying champion packs). These champion packs are generally the hardest mobs in the game, the real bosses if you will. However, just because you wasted 1-2 hours to prepare yourself for that epic boss fight (lol) doesn't mean you're in line for any real items. What has happened is they kept the rarity of diablo drops (good) but increase the time requirement to actually farm the items (bad). They force you to run bosses instance style like an MMO, clear trash - get to boss, oh also you'll need a tank. Yep, that's right, barbs are simply tanks. I hope you didn't roll a barb because you wanted to smash shit, you're going to tank, and you'll like it, or you'll sit in the menu.
tl;dr fast farming + low drop rate = good slow farming + high drop rate = good (not for me personally but at least in a wow heroic you know that 1hr will grant SOMEONE epics) slow farming + low drop rate = awful, terrible, holy shit are we playing diablo or a korean mmo? Aion anyone?
After 60+ hours in 3 days, I went from loving and signing diablo 3 praises, to hating the game.
PS
dont get me started on their idea of item progression (magic-rare-legendary) it's bad, real bad.
this guy hit the nail on the head. blizzard wanted to make it so everyone can farm for loot and make it faster...instead they took away better drops off of bosses, and put them onto rare mobs that can take anywhere from 5-20 minutes sometimes to kill depending upon what stupid mods they have. also i'm rerolling because as you said, my barb? i can only tank, i tried to MF, but just have to re-make if i encounter some super strong rares (fire chains + mortar + etc etc) and then i lose my neph buff and have to restart. seriously wtf.
So glad that people are finally starting to be critical of D3. Just a week ago, whenever I said anything bad about D3, nobody would agree, and would give these stupid reasons for why Blizzard are making good decisions.

Though I'm not sure I agree with that at all. Just running Bosses is rather boring and get's really stale. With champions packs you don't know beforehand what you have to do. And since there's so many of them there's enough chance to get loot. There is however something off with the scaling between groups and solo play. At the moment I think that in group play Champion packs take too long to kill.

i kind of agree, inferno feels like an mmo, you even need a freaking tank. And then instead of epic monster slaying, you sit there and try to kill one group for 5 minutes. Thats not how i remember diablo games.

Just a week ago, whenever I said anything bad about D3, nobody would agree, and would give these stupid reasons for why Blizzard are making good decisions. I can tell you all played D2 when an enigma was only worth 3-5 hrs (15-30 fg). Back in the day, D2 FORCED you to make a sorceress and farm meph to no end, rush people for forge and SLOWLY, and I repeat REALLY FUCKING SLOWLY build your way into a full geared hammerdin (to make it easier on yourself). And of course, it took people a while to figure a champion like Pindleskin and the rare even of the anni (although by that time, most people found dclone to be a joke). Once getting a fully geared basic, no super duper rare or crafted items for PvP kind of geared character was available to a good chunk of the players, then came uber tristam which for like a week, was somewhat hard. The game has been out for a week, I'm sorry you feel 60 hours of play were not rewarded with a rare one socket ethereal fool's weapon D3 equivalent like you had expected and that you no longer can just a move your way (or set up your own bot) to meph and pindle, but 60+ hours of a week old game is NOT enough time to complain about how you have not yet found that 100% CoA. Keep on playing, keep on looking at the AH, keep on browsing the web for that mob that continually appears on a given quest/place and is easy to kill, stop whining you're not full of epics right now.

I got to 60 yesterday, but seriously Barb is sooooo broken! I had to buy a 1h+Shield to be able to don't die every 10sec in Hell Act3. And the Balance is a bad joke. For Inferno you need like 1 Tank (Monk>Barb) and 3 RangeDPS... thats so broken. Melees are so fucked with the ridiculous Damage the Mobs do. We get a 30% less damage but the Mobs do like +100% more damage in inferno - so that doesn't matter at all -_-

Actually your qualms about the game is pretty similar to how endgame D2 looked. It's pretty easy to get a level 85-90 sorc and get a mid-high tier item set like Tal-Rashas or Oculus/Shaco. At this point if you want to continue make even better gear, it is pretty damn difficult. You can do hundreds of mephisto runs getting barely anything of worth (comparatively). You probably know the drop rates of highrunes in D2, it is like winning the lottery. If you didn't bot, you basically had to have super luck or simply had to farm pul/um worth of items and trade up.
This could be compared to hell level gear, and inferno level gear. If you can't deal with Inferno, farm hell and sell the stuff. These complaints are welcome in my book. Blizzard said inferno would be difficult and apparently, they weren't lying. + Show Spoiler +Disregard this post if you have near perfect gear and a perfect build.
