not every game is meant to be a competition. you don't have to show off your skill to have fun playing a video game. in fact, if that's what you play video games for, you're going to be inherently limited to enjoying only the truly competitive games like BW or counter strike.
you could beat diablo 1 with just one mouse button, yet it's not garbage? despite how slow it is, despite the lack of story or characters, with less tilesets and items?
your post just doesn't make any sense. if you don't like it just don't respond. especially if you don't have any real criticisms besides the fact that it's an RPG.

I love Diablo 2 that was like my first game and i still play today.

yeah d2 was lots of fun. really want to play d3, looks really nice. I can't believe there are still item stores to buy items (like on the ads on this site).

you know what else takes no skill?
going to an amusement park. hanging out with friends. listening to music.

What, you mean this?
Yeah, it's sad, but after a game gets old and they stop maintaining it, this stuff always happens.

All my friends, even the casuals who play their xbox 360 once a week are eagerly awaiting D3. I'm too, and we've already started planning for a 1-2 week lan at the release. Hopefully we won't have to wait until 2013 or something, I really have my doubts that it will get released in 2011 for some reason. But we'll see.
And yes, Diablo/II has never required any real skill? Who cares, the games are awesome and the amount of entertainment it has brought me during the years exceeds all other games I've played, bar CS maybe.
|
Diablo 3 will be awesome... The population spiked on Battle Net when they announced it during the Worldwide Invitational and Diablo 2 and the expansion were selling off the shelves at my old work. Even I got into the hype and started playing again. It lasted about 3 months until I got bored and uninstalled the game after reaching a high level and getting high tier items.

Cannot wait for it, but i know it will be a long wait.

diablo 2 rocks. There are skills in that game for sure. Try making fuckton filled mules of good shit out of nothing in a hardcore server super super fast, then farming torches, in a very short time right after a server reset.

d2 is basically wow with crappier graphics, interface, and game play. d3 will just be more of the same, i don't know what else they can bring to the table. wow seemed to have mastered the genre of action rpg/mmo.

On topic, Diablo 2 stole somewhere around 3 years of my life. It was fun. I need to try and beat it single player or something like that, I always just ended up doing trist, tomb and baal runs forever...
|
Ah, Diablo 2... I never managed to finish Single Player. I did finish Single Player of Lord of Destruction but that's easymode.
I did get my Barbarian to level 99 though doing countless Baalruns.. This is still the greatest accomplishment in my life ever :D
Time to finish single player..
EDIT: Come to think of it, if you guys have some time to kill try out the Median XL Diablo 2 mod. I spent alot of time completing this game, definitely time well killed!

These are not the same thing, these are two different genres. You can't compare gameplay cross genre. You can't rip on graphics or UI from a decade ago.
Diablo ≠ WoW. UI and graphics will be improved ten fold over the corse of 10 years, and the gameplay is still compelling to a huge number of fans.

I played and beat starcraft with one mouse button. I guess that means starcraft is garbage, yeah?

If you're looking for an Action RPG fix in the meantime, Titan Quest is awesome. The skill tree system itself is really cool.

After playing D3 at Blizzcon last year, I was really impressed, more than by SC2. The game was really fun, it's easy to get addicted.
There's many things that got burrowed from WoW, I had my doubts about those, but it turned out alright. It feels weird having no more potions, with sligthly different controls (1, 2, 3, 4 are now for spells), but it's probably for the best. It's gonna be great.
|
Yep, I had quite a bit of fun playing D3 at Blizzcon , and I never got into any of the Diablo games... so that was pretty exciting O_O!

in hell mode? ehhh... NO
hmm come to think of it I can finish starcraft with one mouse button the control groups are just for comfort. so according to your argument SC is worse than D2.
----------- Auntie Edit says: props to "hejakev" for beating me to it and to "mOnion" for the nice presentation of what life is about

What made D2 interesting to me was the economy facet of the game. I had a lot of fun "collecting" rare items and trading for hours at a time to make a profit.
About 2 years ago I made a new account and my friend gave me a shako... Traded it a bunch of times and after 2 days I had more stuff than he'd collected over the course of the 2 months he had been playing.
I really hope that Diablo 3 is kind of like that, without the duping ofc but yeah... I love trading ^^
