About 2 years ago I made a new account and my friend gave me a shako... Traded it a bunch of times and after 2 days I had more stuff than he'd collected over the course of the 2 months he had been playing.
I really hope that Diablo 3 is kind of like that, without the duping ofc but yeah... I love trading ^^
Hopefully without the need for mules, too. Having gold that actually had value would also be nice in D3.

D3 is alright, I was hyping for it during the first year. But the second year (blizzcon 09) the demo went shitty.
Besides the graphic, its not like D2 anymore, its like D2 with only 3,4 skills. (other are just passive or synergy?) iirc D3 dev panel said "we want player to have a easier time playing D3 with just using the mouse". Almost no hotkey was needed, except for potion, most of the skill switch are used by the scroll up/down. It's just missing the shitton of options of 12 hotkeys.
The game itself was horrible missing what d2 have. Maybe because its still demo.. No WP or TP, I dont see how that's gonna work. In the Desert map when you split up in a fork or small dungeon, and want to go back to the other guy. It would take you some time cuz you dont have the map, cuz the game thought TP was imba and WP was unnecessary.
Quest was buggy, says rescue a girl in the deserted town. but my group spitted up and search every edge of the map and couldn't find it.
Even though its demo/ alpha, i hope Blizzard step it up a little.

None of my friends like SC like I do, so Diablo 3 will be a great way for us to play online together. I remember we had some epic fun times in D2, especially in HC mode. Plus a lot of us are going to school or working far away so this is the most interaction we'll have with one another. Hopefully D3 will keep many of the basics of D2 but improve on them.
Edit: dammit, this thread just reminded me how pumped I am for D3, and it won't be out for awhile. Curse you OP.

Guys I've got a question about Diablo 2..
So I would like to complete the single player game on Hell difficulty as if Diablo2 just came out. This means no Lord of Destruction and no patches that alter gameplay. However, in order to make Diablo2 run on my Vista, I need to install some patch..
So, is it not possible to play the original game anymore? Using the current patch there is the option to respec and some skills have been rebalanced. This is what I don't want. Is it possible to play on Vista without these alterations?

I don't think so. If a LoD patch is required for Vista compatibility, then it would be impossible to run D2 without the expansion on Vista..

Oh hell yes, Median XL was my jam a couple of years back... it makes me wonder what kind of modding possibilities there will be for d3.

Oh hell yes, Median XL was my jam a couple of years back... it makes me wonder what kind of modding possibilities there will be for d3. Well, D2 wasn't supposed to be modable... Any mods like that for D3 will be illegal in the same way mods for D2 and SCBW were illegal (including launchers). Blizzard hasn't been strict about it in the past, but with their new B.Net I have a feeling that they'll be a lot more strict about mods.

The original Diablo was the FIRST online game I played with other people, hehe. It also happens to be my favorite rpg franchise, too. Really, really, really excited for D3, but it is sad that they only update small pieces every couple of months at most. Most of the big stuff, like class announcements, have always been at Blizzcon, so expect more information when Blizzcon comes around, I guess.

I'm afraid that they will mess up D3 somehow. The issue at hand is that D3, as an rpg game, has a lot of interest overlap with WoW. I, personally, know many wow players who are "just hanging on wow waiting for d3 to go out". Maybe it won't be worth more then a few months of not playing wow but even that would equal the full diablo 3 purchase, meaning Blizzard will not earn anything off such players. Even though they said their payment model for D3 will not be subscription based, their money hungry bs over bnet2, and the whole Activision taking over important decisions makes me suspect otherwise. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I hope they make it more challenging and give more incentive to group, like Hell Unleashed mod for D2.

diablo 2 was what wow has become now, a show off of e-peen (armor) and not skill
I'll be playing d3 just for some brainless fun. It will be a nice break from all the serious gameplay on sc2. To me I put d3 in the same category as pac-man and galaga, and those games dont need complicated controls or tactics to be fun.

i'd sure pray that d3 doesnt fall to the same crap that SC2 is being subjected to.
although i dont feel as much interaction with other ppl in d2 as i did with wc3/sc1.

I'm curious to see if they'll have B.Net sorted out by then. Even if it is in a good enough form in SC2, I wonder what updates, additions, and fixes they'll make in Diablo's version.

Yeah, there has been no news other than delays. It was supposed to be out this year. I think they put the project on hold to finish SC2 and WoW.
Really looking forward to it. Even the old gameplay footage looks fantastic. My friends and I always had fun with co-op in D2, and it looks like it'll be even more fun in D3.

Today is the 10 year anniversary of the release of Diablo 2 according to the blizzard website. No other news updates other than that -_-

i just hope they keep d3 like d2, and dont try to make it like wow at all...but iirc they want to change grinding/item finding to something easier, which was where most of the fun was. spending 6 hours killing mephisto and finally getting a shako was pretty awesome

On June 30 2010 07:05 Insanious wrote:@Phil they have different development teams on each game. This means that they can produce the 3 games simultaneously + new content without taking away from any other game. All programmers at Blizz do not work only on WoW then all on SC2 then back on WOW then all on D3, that would be counter productive ![](/mirror/smilies/wink.gif)
There is some crossover. As I understand it, a few devs will get pulled onto projects closer to release to help with meeting the deadlines. For the most part, though, they are separate. There's also crossover with the art and lore departments, although I don't know to what extent. I'm pretty sure Samwise/Metzen have done work on all three franchises (check old podcasts).

I'm more excited for D3 than any other game. I keep watching the gameplay videos over and over again and I never get tired of them XD
This game looks sooooo awesome!
And for people think that it doesn't take skill to play Diablo 2, go beat hell difficulty on hardcore mode and then come back and tell me that.

Well there's the possibility to create a non-expansion character while you have Lord of Destruction installed. However, I'd like to play the game without 'synergies' and that kinda crap which wasn't in the original game. I want to play it hard mode
