From leaguecraft:
Three Hearts of Gold: costs 2925 gold, 81 Armor, 600 Health, gain 450 gold every 5 minutes. One Sunfire Cape: costs 2810 gold, 45 Armor, 450 Health, deal 40 damage / second to surrounding enemies.
For about the cost of a Sunfire Cape, you get much more armor, more health, and you're now building gold to help with the late game.

The three heart of gold opening is very good , it's funny how much hate ive gotten about it in solo que though.. like OMG HOG STACKER LOL NOOB
|
I mentioned it a while ago I think it helped more TL people start stacking HoG on jungle tanks that opened such.
|
Wait...sunfire capes cost 2810?
|
so... miss fortune functions almost exactly like kogmaw, only less single target but more aoe. kinda funny.
I like miss fortune better tho, cause she's less dependant on auto-attacks for damage, and her passive is 8000x better than kogmaw's.

I think this is common knowledge here. There's a reason why there are suggestions like "stack HoGs until 13 minutes" etc.
Thanks for all the explanations, Mogwai. Yeah most of it was expectable, but since I was already listing a few items I just included all the unclear wordings.

It could be a simple 0.5 AD ratio splash, or it could be based on the actual damage you dealt (including crits and spell damage for on-hit abilities), or it could be 0.5 AD ratio with crit chance for the whole splash... There are plenty of options.
From http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Tiamat:
Stacking Tiamats on Shaco Shaco can provide interesting results. Deceive Deceive and Backstab Backstab a minion next to a group of enemy champions for massive AoE damage. Which would indicate that it is based on the actual damage dealt.
On http://leaguecraft.com/item/Tiamat someone said:
Not sure if I mistaken it with malphite's spash, but dmg from tiamat ignores armor. This could have interesting results against armor stacking tanks.

They still have to be hugging each other for it to be effective. Tiamat's just a whole lot of work. Tiamat MF is just funny for harassing purposes, but I still think Caller's build is stupid, :D

Discuss. HoG is just one of the best tank items in the game. When ever I see an amumu building sunfire or negatron first, I just laugh, because he doesn't know how badly he's screwing himself. And if your opponents are completely physical, you can stack up 5 then turn them into sunfires (that happened to me in one game).

Discuss. Sunfire cape costs less then that, 2510 if i remember correctly(used to be 2810) although despite that HoG opening is still very good

I love love love heart of gold. It's one of the most undercosted items along with rageblade, soulstealer and friends - niche, but realistically abusable.

How viable is trading in all those attack damage items and literally Ashe's whole build for full ap in base nuking end-game? I just found it would be very lulzy especially with 40% cooldowns.

Be useful every 40s! Fuck yeah.

1 Heart of gold opening is pretty much required for any tank, and personally I still think randuin is a good tank item to build later on. Whether you build more or move-on to sunfire cape depends on the tank though. I definitely wouldn`t say `build 3 HoG on all tanks`.
Sunfire cape is great on champs that naturally have a way of passively dealing damage (amumu and morde mostly, udyr not as much, garen could count too. I`d use it on Mundo too), as it just accelerates the rate at which you're dealing DoT. Conversely, 1 sunfire cape by itself is mostly going to get ignored so if that`s all you got, then go for heart of golds and skip SFC completely. Again, dont`get SFC if you`re not going to get at least 2 or have some other ability that resembles SFC.
Another fact to consider is what the tanks are doing during off-times. Amumu and Shen farms a lot. Amumu everytime his ult is down, and Shen everytime his ult is up. They get to build sunfire capes because they get stable income and SFC also helps them farm somewhat. In contrast, Rammus is just going to go around and ganking the crap out of anyone attempting to solofarm on the enemy team. He builds heart of golds.
And then you get to singed who breaks all my rules and does whatever.

I just found it would be very lulzy especially with 40% cooldowns. If all you want to do is nuke from the fountain, play AP Ezreal. At least he can farm from the fountain with his ult. He also is easier to hit properly with since his ult isn't just blocked by a stupid tank walking in front of your target (which happens even on fairly close range with Ashe, I spend a lot of time positioning to prevent this TT). He also hits much harder despite the lower AP ratio because he generally hits more enemies.
Ashe has no decent farm without AD. Volley by itself is pretty weak and tends to bring minions to exactly 1 HP so that your own minions will kill them off. So you won't really get a whole lot of AP. If you go for Ghostblade/Brutalizer + 15% CDR from runes/masteries you can still spam ECA, and the slow/stun won't be any weaker, while still outputting significant damage.
But nevertheless I totally support trolling with AP Ashe.
EDIT: Just noticed that Mogwai skipped the "Does Randuins Active slow allies too?" part. So mean!

sunfire costs 2510, and the 40 damage per second aura could potentially help u generate some cash through farming, and also its gives u tad bit much more dmg in fights.... so...
i suppose that sunfire is better for immediate gain while HoG spamming pays off more in a long game?
