I keep ending up as "that noob guy" even when I'm playing characters I thought I was decent at, at least in ranked games. The level of competition is just so much higher than in normal games. I watch tv.zeroboy.net/clgame daily and it really really helps. although yeah its kind of different

Gragas may be the hardiest brewmaster of the foothills, but he's also the rowdiest rouser of the rabble! This past Thursday night was no exception. Following a successful battle arena match, Gragas took to his usual night of celebration - this time at the Lamplighter Inn in Noxus' famous Vexallian Square. Those present say that Gragas arrived with his friend and fellow champion, Jax. They began drinking at approximately 8:30 pm. At 10:30 pm, they were buying rounds for the bar. By the stroke of midnight, twelve chairs had been broken, as had one window, five bottles, three arms, and a handful of teeth. Furthermore, two waitresses claimed to have had their buttocks inappropriately fondled! Jax supposedly disappeared earlier in the night, whereas Gragas fled towards his beloved hills before the Noxian constabulary arrived at the Lamplighter. After a cursory investigation, Noxian officials decided to drop all charges. Sergeant Willem Nightshade of the Noxian Constabulary had this to say: "As a League Champion who has committed no crime against the state proper, it is unlawful for us to ban him from our borders. Honestly now, the trouble only starts when the barkeeps stupidly serve him too much to drink. It's their risk if they let him in and give him endless refills on alcohol. What did they expect would happen?" Nightshade offered this as advice for wary barkeeps in Noxus: "Next time, they should try watering down his drink. On the other hand, that might just rile him up more. Anyway, just consider the risks when serving alcohol to someone whose nickname is 'The Rabble Rouser'!" One thing is for certain: if this reporter sees Gragas coming into his favorite watering hole, he'll be heading for the door! LMAO wtf @ Jax

Solo q is never really "solo" q. If you want to get highly ranked, you have to have a partner in crime. It will more often than not help off balance the baddies in pug games.

So far I've been going for items (in order): Ruby crystal to start Chalice Aegis Merc Treads Guardian Angel Soul Shroud Frozen Heart/Banshee's And skills R>W>Q>E Though the game is usually done before frozen heart finishes. Is this generally solid, or acceptable? It seems to fit well as far as I can see, but I'm new in general. Levelling shatter and items lets me tank quite well along with heals secondary. I can get away from anything unless I mess up and 3+ people jump me, can heal/buff and shatter again helps me with pushing lanes.

They should definitely, at least, have a public statistic tracking how many solo queues have been played with a partner and how many have been truly solo.

When the ladder evens itself out solo queue will be fine. The variance is too great at the moment.

IMO it's kind of like the normal game solo queue, where guys would say 'well like 80% of my games are solo' which discounts the giant Elo boost you get from those 20% premade games, which help pull you out of 'the vortex' as they call it. I'm not saying it's impossible to get high rating truly solo, but there is just a possibility that you get screwed over, and it can happen fairly often =[. Clearly the best way to handle it, is get a high rating in one of the other brackets so that you get a monster 150+ boost for your first solo queue game. Play that game with a strong partner so you don't waste the possible boost, then you should be in a decent spot to play at 1400+ with much better quality of random teammates.

I don't build mana items on Taric, I go straight for soul shroud / randuins depending on magic/physical. Then usually speed boots because taric doesn't get cc'ed much. third item depends on the game but guardian and frozen heart are good choices as well as the other item you didn't pick first. Tear is a good item if you need mana, but after each team fight you'll be going back to base anyway. A lot of times I find they just can't kill me by my 3rd item so I get lich bane as my 4th item. (I think that's the right one)

I really don't take the game serious enough to give a shit(or I'd play a carry and try harder). That's not to say I don't enjoy winning, but I don't mind that my Elo seems relatively low(the only time I see known players names is when I am the odd man out in a premade, so clearly I'm there to average things out). You can't deny the truth that there are some 'decent' players out there, that belong higher than ~1200, but aren't good enough(read: won't be top 500) to carry awful teams and win out of 'the vortex.' I know plenty of people personally that have no delusions of being 'good' but clearly they aren't the awful player that feeds. When they are on a decent team they end up excelling, or are a fantastic teammate to a true carry player, they just can't do it on their own. I think the only TL person I've ever played with(I don't know all the TL vs Summoner names though) is EzPz though, so I can't vouch for who has been complaining that is 'decent' and who is just 'average.'
