Got to grade 21 or something with some good friends. The public matchmaking is just pointless/dull though, and the ranking is so imbalanced. Got to 21 in 3s, 19 in 2s and like... 14 in solo?
I really enjoy the game but I can't see any hope for it. It's not like funcom is to blame for it dying, it was 100% the fault of SLS and them taking over is not going to improve anything. They haven't done anything for the game for years.
SLS wasn't getting much out of the game because Funcom had the rights to advertise and control the store, etc.
You can queue with 3 in solo now, so basically teams is just combined with solo queue, and it works just fine.
If you haven't actually played it since the revamp I encourage you to give it a try before you bash it.
Regardless of whether or not the game is going to survive into the future, I'm happy it's alive again. No game makes me nerd out more than this one. This PvP experience is simply not produced in any other game.
True, is full pvp right out of the get go. With no fluff or babysitting, no crits or random shit: pure skill at the hand of every player. We can point out the advantage of gems and medallions vs newcommers, but that's about it.
I've been playing quite a lot and I think the player base goes around 500-700: not great but good enough to have queues and quick games at anypoint. Not sure how the speed fares with ppl at around 1800 ratings, which is the top of the ladder right now.

This is so true. I loved BLC, but stopped playing after this patch whatsoever. :/ I really miss the times before that patch.
I played the battlerite beta this weekend and I thought it was pretty fun, I didn't get to play too much though because I only got a key for a few hours before it ended.
I played about 2 hours of beta. Seems really like original BLC so it's really promising. No medallions, gems or other bullshit
They have added Battlerite system which is fine. It's custom bonus you choose before round ad it's always the same. It creates some build and opportunities to adjust to enemy comp without going too far.
My only problem is that the characters are slower, which seems a bit off, I hope they will fix it and speed up characters a bit. Also it seemed a bit clunky, but maybe it's because of beta. Also effects were a bit confusing and not clean enough.
I think it has potential to be good game. I will most likely buy it if they polish few things.

The advantage you got from gems and such was so marginal that it was pretty much negligible. Some of them even added extra depth to the game and actually farming them wasn't all that hard. I got pretty much everything I need on several characters in just a few days of casual laddering.
"To honor your previous involvement with Bloodline Champions, you have been chosen to receive a Closed Beta key for its spiritual successor, Battlerite!"
That made me curious as to how they knew I downloaded BLC in the past. But I looked it up and BLC and Battlerite are both made by Stunlock Studios. I thought Battlerite was being produced by some naive dev that thought they knew better than BLC, but since it's the same devs, it gives me hope that they figured out whatever it is they did wrong and now believe they can create a successful game. Trying it out soon!
Just discovered this game; had no prior experience with BLC. Bit of a Dota/HoN veteran, one might say.
It was the first time going into it with the latest beta, and I absolutely loved it. I found the gameplay truly exhilirating. I think this has real potential if they play their cards right.
Might be worth creating a Battlerite thread, no? It's essentially a new game, even if it is a "new chapter of BLC", as they say.
So is the chick with the 2 hammers in that trailer just the Ravager again? I remember her being OP as hell the last time I played BLC like 4-5 years ago.
