Crazy to see from extreme defense to offense in no time at all. That last stock fight was great. Good grabs and then one good aerial dodge by armada and he just put the pain on.

I'd have wished PP to win, I don't get why his Marth worked so well. Armada's supposed to never lose to Marths. I also don't think Falco vs Peach is a bad matchup so I guess he just didn't know it too well(Didn't see his games vs Armada so tough to say). It also is pretty sad that most people still don't space properly against crouch cancel possibilities. It's as if that aspect hasn't evolved at all in 4 years.

In a team match (Scar and... lozr? vs Leffen and Ice), Scar lost a life and mashed start, thinking it was his last and wanting to steal a life as soon as possible. He still had a life, though, so he accidentally paused. When he unpaused as though to continue playing the set, Leffen paused and called for the rules. The ruleset for the tournament had an explicit stipulation for this occurrence: the opposing team may deem one stock of the offending player forfeit. Leffen claimed that right, and Scar had to throw away his last stock. The crowd made loud angry boos when Leffen and Ice won the match. The commentators basically agreed that the correct decision was made on the grounds that the rules are there to be followed. One complicating factor of note is that the vast majority of team tournaments have pause turned OFF in the options, so that this kind of thing can't happen at all. In this tournament, the pause is on as a safeguard against equipment malfunction or an actual emergency, so that the state of the set can be maintained while technical issues are resolved. It's still an open question for future tournaments whether to enable pause or not.

Also I feel like Fox is quite overrated and Sheik is underrated. Very few players play these characters close to optimally. I'd have wished PP to win, I don't get why his Marth worked so well. What do you have against Peach and Jigglypuff? I think it's nice that different styles of characters are viable at the top and not just speedy face smashers like Fox and Marth. Do you dislike their style of play? Their floatiness? Do you think the characters are cheap and rely on gimmicks instead of straight up face smashing like the other top tier? Do you hate the pace of the game when these characters are in control of the match?

Do you hate the pace of the game when these characters are in control of the match? They promote camping and only getting a single hit off, the gameplay with one of these characters in the match is going to be way slower, games also last longer. It's almost like brawl. Especially Peach with her crouch canceling makes most pressure stupid or impossible, and because the risk-reward ratio of comboing and shield pressuring her is so skewed especially if you play someone like a fastfaller, you only want to get surefire hits in and play incredibly safe. Jigglypuff's sort of the same deal, her crouch cancel punishes are the best in the game along with Peach(different functions) so you're basically relegated to hitting her off the air and grabbing her. Again promotes really safe and slow-paced play. Not to mention she's countered by stuff like Young Link and Young Link vs Jigglypuff is the fourth-most boring matchup in the game after Peach-Peach, Jiggly-Jiggly, and Peach-Jiggly.

I used to play it all the time with my friends. I was great with Marth. Never really got into brawl the same way, it felt too clunky and messy.
