Q: Peanuts here from Teamliquid, standing with KT Rolster’s Zest, coming right off of his win in group stages here at IEM Toronto. Zest, how does it feel to be in North America for the second time?

A: I’m relieved, first of all. Due to the jet lag, I was really really tired at the end of the game yesterday. I fell asleep at about 9 o'clock last night, and I feel so much more relieved and happy now that I’ve gotten through to the Ro8.

Q: You’re ranked as one of the best PvP players in the world right now. Why do you think this is? Do you have any particular practice partners that you think really impact your skill? Do you have any players that you take inspiration from, be it particular builds or playstyle?

A: First of all, I do a lot of in-house practice with my team. I also focus a lot on the matchup on ladder. In ladder PvP, I try to do a lot of different things. It’s worked out, as I rarely lose. All of the Protoss players on KT Rolster are super strong, so I think that that helps me a lot as well. They definitely help me stay in tip-top shape.

Q: So, this year, you did really well in Proleague. KT managed to take the finals. in terms of your individual performance, you’re on a big upswing. You had an 80% win rate, as opposed to last year’s 58%. Why do you think you’re improving so much? Is it simply getting more used to SC2 as a game, is it an improvement in practice partners?

A: I don’t feel like much has really changed since last year. I always believed in myself. Last year, compared to this year, i think my potential has really just shown better. I think it really came through in the playoffs, when I had an all-kill against SKT. I think it’s just a coincidence in the timing.

Q: In a similar vein, you really started the year out with a bang. You won the first GSL, followed up by winning the GSL Global Cup. Since then, you haven’t taken home a title. What are your plans for really picking it up in this season of GSL?

A: So, Blizzcon is the most honorable and important event of the year. I’m working towards Blizzcon as hard as I can, by coming to events like this, to earn more points. Ultimately my goal is winning Blizzcon, and that is where my focus is.

Q: Do you have hopes for winning foreign tournaments like this one?

A: I don’t have a specific tournament that I want to win. DH, IEM, anything. Throw them all at me! I’ll win em all.

Q: So you said that you’re really excited at the possibility of winning a foreign event and you’re doing pretty well here at IEM. You beat Polt and bunny in your group stage, and now you have play against Yoda in the Ro8. How are you feeling going into the match and how do you feel about the rest of the event?

A: In terms of having Yoda as my opponent… I’m not quite too sure what to think. I’m not terribly sure about what kind of play style he likes to do. I haven’t really had too many opportunities to study him and prep for him, but if i just play the game out as I would on ladder or in team practice, I think I should be ok.

Q: Do you hope to come to more foreign events in the future?

A: I am hungry for anything that’s Starcraft. I don’t care if it’s in Korea, the foreign scene, anywhere. If you have a tournament, call me up. I’ll be there, I’ll take the wins.

Q: Do you have anything that you want to say to your foreign fans or your fans back in Korea?

A: I know a lot of you guys, my fans inside of Korea and also outside of Korea, had high expectations for me at IEM. I did make it out of the group, but I’m really sorry for some of the sloppy plays I had in getting there. I’m happy and I hope you’re happy. From the Ro8 on, I’m going to spice things up. Expect strong results!

I asked him how it felt to get 2nd. "I wish I could have won. But my friend finally achieved something he's been hoping for and working for, for a long long time now. I can't feel bad."
