My main concern is mods. Yeah, you can see their real names, but there are some persistent trolls.
Yup, ideally you'd have an easy way to switch to closed/invite only mode and back and to do ip-based and domain-based banning. On networks like IRCnet strong identification and persistence of ops can be a bit of a chore, but I think there are some networks which offer better/easier security regarding this.
If you have signed up before, you do NOT have to sign up again. I will be going through the last thread, page by page and update that list with people who wanted to be signed up (some did not want to resulting in angry posts).

Your sacrifices for the swarm have been noted.
Also, after catching up on this thread I'm not clear - is Scarlett in MLG Summer or is that not happening? I've read contrary things in various places. ?

... but I'm not sure if IRC would be the best technology to use. I'm not that familiar with Skype, but from a quick googling it seems Skype Persistent Group Chat (is this what you're using for Idrachat btw?) has all the most important functionality for something like this and it might be easier for new people to start using. We'd lose a few points of nerd-cred and probably stuff like cutesy bots, but would maybe gain a bit on the fronts of accessibility and usability as experienced by people not accustomed to IRC.
Are there other technological solutions that come into mind for somebody?
If there are at least a few interested people, we can give it a whirl, see if it sticks and see what problems we encounter.
I'm definitely interested, anyways! Sounds like a lot of fun. I think Scarlett's fanclub has enough regulars to make it worthwhile ^_^

Summer Arena? No she missed the Invite-Only qualifier for it. Got DQ'd.
Sign me up, really impressed with the way she plays the game and just the way she always looks like she's still having a blast while completely demolishing someone

I should note, that she didn't mention anything about it. She might want to focus only on one tournament.
I thought there was a rule where you couldn't play in WCS and MLG at the same time during the next MLG or did they end up changing it? I know there was a lot of complaints since basically every big NA name would be unable to play at MLG because they would be in WCS NA
Scarlett got some discussion on today's Inside the Game. Basic summary:
- she has some swagger, which suggests she has the confidence she needs to compete; but she is polite and respectful to her opponents - she could have "what it takes", has genuine talent; according to Idra a lot of good players crumble when transitioning from online to live competition, and she didn't, which suggests she will be able to continue to do well
Was all good. Worth a listen. Particularly amusing story about her playing Drewbie. She is just so cool tehehe.
Didn't get the time code but I'd guess the Scarlett part was about 20 minutes in.
Edit: Also there is one question from a caller about her ZvZ builds which Idra addresses, in the last half.
Edit: And a brief mention again by iNcontroL during an answer to a Goatlust question, right near the end.

Yeah I was waiting and watching that bit, happy they were being cool about it, but nothing out of the ordinary. I wish people would stop going like "Oh the last time was IPL and noone really knew she was this good blabla", I think plenty in this fanclub have watched - granted not tons - but still a considerable amount of Scarlett games to know it's not all hype.
And then they discussed the last Queen buff that's supposedly the source of Zerg dominance in tournaments, uhhuh *roll eyes*

I do have to say that this queen buff has swung the pendulum. You can't just look at the results and say "It must just be a coincidence". I don't think there needs to be a patch, but the Terrans don't have the build orders to adapt. I feel more time has to pass for new strategies to grow.

Well yes and no. SC2 is a bit of a wild beast, there are plenty of very skilled players who have experienced temporary success coz they discovered a strong build, which is effective until it is known; and then they more or less disappear (from the very top ranks if not completely). And Idra's point is fair too - there are plenty of "amateur" players who show incredible success "in theory" but who because of personality or experience just can't replicate those results when they are in front of a crowd and the pressure is really on. Truth is, the number of SC2 players who are consistently at the top over an extended period, is actually pretty small. Compared to pros in say physical sports, anyway.
Which is a roundabout way of saying, I think the three EG's speaking on iTG are cautious about singing the praises of any new player because they are all too aware of the vagaries of success in the sport; and the fact that they spoke in such positive terms about Scarlett and her performance at WCS says a lot, given their natural reserve on this topic.
