Well, since you defeated 3 pros, almost defeated a fourth, and did so at your very first LAN competition, and one that was so incredibly stacked in the brackets... nothing to be sorry about! Hell, you beat Terious with him on the other side of the table, with a chunk of his team standing there and a huge crowd focusing on you. Then you kept going, did the same to Ddoro, and made Oz (!) work for his win, ALL while handling sudden exposure which is miles above what most people ever face. (And with humility.) Then I wake up and find out you kicked Demuslim in the shins, got interviewed by a major Korean eSports news outlet (great interview!), and you're apologizing for not winning a ZvZ.
You got nothing to apologize for! Your first LAN and you post THESE results amid the sudden spotlight of publicity and the very public discussion of your very private life? Damn. If I went to an MLG and found myself sitting across from a Korean pro (from a good team, with famous teammates watching the game) I would fall apart. Instead, you took him apart, and then went on to perform as well as a lot of foreign pros - hell, you got deeper into the brackets than Sheth!
Keep at it, you've got the skill to get far if you keep on doing what you're doing, and I really hope a team out there recognizes it. You've got talent, and with support you could be a great new foreigner hope.
way to go! and don't ever pay any attention to those stupid premature morons having prejudices! good luck in the future, pretty sure you already've received some offers, but for god's sake just DO NOT join EG haha

I am having some difficulty understanding this transgender thing. Was Scarlett born a male and then had a surgery to become a female? Or does Scarlett still possess all the male anatomical parts, but identifies with the female gender?
I literally don't understand. Thank you to whoever has the decency to answer the question.
P.S. Scarlett = best SC2 player ever
Why is that any of your business? Really.. people are entitled to a personal life even if you play Starcraft 2...... She has made a statement and that should be the end of it. On to something that actually matters: Was her game against Oz the only game that got streamed?
What is wrong with being curious about how these things work? Often understanding and education is the first step towards acceptance for things like this.
Was pretty wowed by her play considering I had never even heard of her before today, so sign me up.
Edit: Not saying people need to know exact details about her personal circumstances, but rather general knowledge on this issue

The configuration of Scarlett's genitals is emphatically NOT our business. However, her transgender status is now public knowledge and that means that bigots are going to hurl insults are her. They already are, even here in this thread, and it is only going to get worse once she is (deservedly) on a progaming team's roster and more people hear about her. Now we, as her fans, have two options:
1) Talk about her gender identity. 2) Not talk about her gender identity.
Talking about her gender identity can have the effect of educating people who are ignorant of the facts about what it means to be transgender. If you know all there is to know about trans women then you know it is nothing to be ashamed of. You would not ridicule Scarlett, or anyone, for it. Reducing ignorance has the effect of preventing bigotry. It may not protect Scarlett, but it will protect people like her in the future, who may not be quite as brave as her, or might be in more pressing danger.
Not talking about it respects her privacy, but the improtant thing to remember here is, she has ceded privacy on this issue. Almost as quickly as possible after speculation about her gender identity began, she clarified the issue. She did not have to do that.
Imagine if she had instead said: "I'm not transgendered or intersex or anything like that, I just have kind of a deep voice and am a little awkward. Why are you guys so surprised that a girl who plays Starcraft is an awkward ugly duckiling? Its like you don't know what it's like to be a geek. Stop making fun of me like it's recess in elementary school. Grow up! I'm just here to play Starcraft, and if you don't like it we can 1v1... if you have the balls."
Almost everyone would have believed her. Some trolls would have redoubled their trans-shaming because they thought it touched a nerve, but if she ignored them it would have died down to the dull background roar of awful shit that always infests the bottom half of the internet. She didn't. She told the truth and she owned it. So even though it wasn't our business, this fact about her isn't private any more. It isn't private becuase some doucebags wanted to shame her, and she beat them at thier own game by not being ashamed of who she is (you go girl)!
Speaking of things that aren't our business, there are other things related to her gender identity that we don't know. Chief among them is the current configuration of her genitals. This particular fact is not our business on a WHOLE different level. Inquiring about the SRS op status of a transsexual is beyond rude. Many public transsexuals refuse to share this information, even if they are very open about being trans and transitioning. For that matter, we don't specifically know if Scarlett is transitioning - she hasn't said so - but her use of the acronym "MtF" strongly suggests she is. The problem is, a lot of otherwise well intentioned people don't know this is rude. If we talk about her gender identity, they can learn that from our discussions; if we don't, they will persist in ignorance and maybe some day interrogate a poor trans woman about whether "she has cut her penis off yet." (Incidentally, the penis is not removed in an SRS vaginoplasty, it is reconfigured to become a functional vagina. Only the testicles are discarded.)
So no, we don't have to talk about her gender identity, and in a perfect world we wouldn't be talking about it. This is not a perfect world. In this fucked up world we should talk about it, because the transphobes are going to talk about it and we are pretty shitty allies if we let them do all the talking. You don't have to participate, but don't tell us not to talk about it. Not talking about it only works if everybody does it. If only the good guys refrain from talking, the assholes win all the arguments.
So, Voltaire, the answer to your question is: we don't know if she has had surgery to make her genitals anatomically female, and we probably won't ever know that. Lacking this knowledge bothers a lot of people, but that is their problem. You don't need to know unless you are getting to third base with her. You don't know what my genitals look like either, and you won't. Not knowing what Scarlett's genitals look like shouldn't bother you any more than not knowing what mine look like. Also, many trans women opt not to have Sex Reassignment Surgery for varying reasons - it is not a defining feature of transgender women.
What we do know is she was assigned the sex "male" at birth, but her gender is female. We have strong reason to believe she is taking steps to transition her identity to female. When we learn her name, it will probably be feminine. Her appearance and voice are consistent with a woman who experienced male puberty, but is currently undergoing Hormone Replacement Therapy, but that is speculation on my part. It is also the speculation that started this whole thing. Her voice and appearance are quite typical for a young woman in the midst of transitioning. Noticing that is not bigoted. What you do with the information is what is important.

That also matters. Yes, that was the only one streamed, and unfortunately HD stumbled his way through casting the first game alone.
What I find most amazing is she's only been playing for a year and already preforming at this level! I would love to know more about her background in gaming and RTS + a little insight to her training style... all ladder play? who did she practice with? ect..
Anyway, good luck Scarlett!! I hope to see more of your games.
Sometimes i wonder about the legitimacy of elitism in SC2, NA ladder based player who copy stephano style is capable of beating code S players. Now im not saying anything bad about her quite the contrary, being this succesfull while self-teaching in terrible practice environment is rare thing and praiseworthy, honestly she played better than Idra.
Just look how nervous Oz was in game 3, it was kinda funny to see.
