Definite reminders of his old brilliance after the group stages (with the exception of his games vs HuK). Will have to wait and see though to see if he can keep it up vs the best of the best in Code S. His final game vs The STC was almost a carbon copy of an old game vs Rainbow in the glory days of MCs GSL runs.

While Nestea is still untouchable, MC looks so fragile in those games. It's pretty simple - nobody really understands PvP because of how retarded it is, and will likely always be. It was stupid before the supposed 'fixes', but even more so is now because the key issues (all-innish nature of every engagement, lack of scouting options in early-mid game) are still there, and having more and more 'viable' builds simply makes the whole thing about random guessing and less so about actually playing the game. There's literally one Protoss in the world who posts consistent results in PvP, which is InCa, and lately he's only playing in online tournaments vs opponents who are reasonably good, but not always Code S level so who knows. For all the whine about 'coinflippiness' of ZvZ, it's nowhere nearly as blind and stupid as PvP is.

Even if he doesn't love the matchup, he said it is showing promise if you can hold off a 4-gate like he can.

HuK lost a pretty quick 2-0 to Hero (who in turn was beaten by MC in the same tournament where HuK beat him) and another 2-0 to that randon no-name foU Protoss in IPL earlier, hardly very solid or showing promise to me at least. As much as I'd like it to be different, right now PvP feels like a game of dice.

It is just there is a lot of stuff about pvp has not yet get figured out. For me there are three reasons huk can destroy Mc this MLG. First, Mc's aim is to get code s, therefore, even he was placed in a group with lots of tosses, he probablly still spend a lot of time in his pvz and pvt. Because if you think about it, he needs to defeat lots of top terrans and zergs to win that spot and he probablly more worried about his pvz and pvt. Second, it is impossible to concentrate 100% after playing that many ace games. Playing against puma, mkp, idra and thestc, it is all one game away from getting knock out. Third, Huk did play very well and deserved to win this time. I personally believe Mc's pvp will be strong again. After all the pvp loss, he should realize he needs to practice more and rethinking about his strategies. And in fact, when a pvp goes into a macro pvp, you hardly can see Mc lose. He only needs to practice more to make sure he does not die in early game and also figure out this matchup a bit more. PvP is not his weakest matchup in my view.

MC looked a little tired by the grand finals, he usually plays a bit stronger than that series, HuK had less games and played very solid (congratz dude). Always your fan MC! :D

MC's game is still looking a little shaky, but there were flashes of his old brilliance in some of the games that I haven't seen in a long time.
