I am not quite sure now whether we are still allowed to post our speculations here. It might be safe to say that right now I fully believe those recent comments regarding IdrA and a certain tournament.

I hope he will go all the way to victory! Has a Zerg even won anything recently, except July?

An ST in house game tournament. He did quite well, and somehow after almost losing to a gate way+phoenix void ray push (his corruptors were out of position) pushed back and won with mass roach and ling reinforcements.

In response to the original question, which was what has any zerg won recently, besides July, there is Haypro, who won the PAX showmatch tournament between the team liquid members.

I don't know if those really count...both "tournaments" were in-house tournaments with only their practice partners/teammates. Real tournaments are against people from other teams with unexpected/unknown playstyles. In addition, while teamliquid is awesome...they've been slumping pretty badly as a team, so beating his teammates isn't a huge accomplishment.

edit: Losira won GSL Code A too. but ret/losira are the only ones with a big tournament win in about 6 months... even though there have been 15+ tournaments

I don't disagree. I guess the last major event won by a zerg I can think of is Ret's win. It's been a bit of a slump.

lol. Don't forget the MLG idra won! I also recall Kyrix winning the GSL all-star tournament. Also, Moonglade won a qualifier!

I'm pretty sure we're forgeting some BETA tournaments where roaches were 2 armor and 1 supply and Hydras and Ultras were actually useful...

So, all in all, zergs are dominating!

90hp and even more damage...

Beta Hydras were awesome

Patch 5 (version 0.7.0.14356)
The delay between attacks has been increased from 0.75 seconds to 0.83 seconds

Patch 8 (version 0.10.0.14803)
Life decreased from 90 to 80.

lets be realistic though... beta zerg was ridiculously OP at first.

there wasn't any realistic way to beat roaches when they had 2 armor, 1 supply, better regen upgrade, cheaper burrow, faster spawning nydus. they definitely needed to nerf units...they just nerfed them way too hard.

I think these 3 changes would fix zerg balance.
1. Make overlord speed 50/50 and tier 1. (It used to be 50/50 tier2, currently at 100/100 tier 2)
2. Revert the Nydus build time from 20-->10 seconds. (zerg nydus builds were really strong in beta imo-with all of the other nerfs zerg has received, I think this could be reverted back.
3. Make it so forcefields have a set HP like 150hp. Its stupid that zerg can't reinforce when their base is being attacked but a protoss on offense can.

Let's take a break from the balance discussion and remind ourselves that IdrA is so good that he managed to beat the dread 1 base 5-gate play against Socke anyway!

Old Hydras, Old Nydus, Better scouting. I can agree. I even can forego the force field nerf!

But still, we need some other form of better anti-air to stop drops.... Something that is NOT a harass unit like the muta. Something like a baneling that flies.... I wonder where I have seen that....

Didn't watch the game, why the hell would Socke build 5-gates on 1 base when he can't even support it?

I STONGLY agree with all of these except the forcefireld one. Imo its an ability that the whole toss gameplay revolves around. And Normally strong players know that once their ramp gets ff'ed it wont be not ff'ed for as long as the protoss wishes, so they just prepare for pushes before they get there or dont let the toss near their ramp.

I really do grin at the thought of what scourge could do to a deathball... They would just totally annihilate the two problematic units of that composition... would bring a tear to my eye

In all honesty scourge would probably make Zerg OP if they could take down Colossi.

Still, it'd be sick to have them back even they couldn't hit Colossi.

Bye bye void rays >:-) .

He faked a 3-gate expand build, threw down two additional gateways, then cancelled the nexus and went all-in from there.
