he needs to go back to muta/bling style, just because he thinks infestor/ling is better doesnt mean its fit for his style

Gotten? He's been losing games the same way for over a year.

The same way? No. Back in the day he would lose games because of his decision making and leaving games too early. Now he loses games primarily because his control and timings are just off the mark.

No, even when he was leaving early his control was a massive flaw. Poor engagements, amoving, bad infestor control all of those have been problems for a while. His macro and mechanics were just good enough to make up for it.

Mhmm, I always disagree with Idra when he says muta play is dead or something. It's definitely more map dependent then before, but muta play is still very strong and Idra was very good with his mutalisks. I hope he realizes they are still good and uses both styles instead of just infestors again.

Nah, Idra's always cut it close with multitasking, so when he miscontrols the viewer sees an "idiotic" mistake. He doesn't ever seem to have liked spellcasters, and infestors are very fragile and slow, so that probably is a tough adjustment. Also, he lost a great deal of time during that mental slump, and he's playing catch up now. He'll get it, he just needs a bit of time to integrate the game's new level of complexity into his mental model.

Mutas are dead TvZ. The current meta-game has Terran playing some styles where muta can be effective, but it's so easy for them to transition and counter it's just silly. You won't catch them off-guard with mutas if they are at all competent

Seal, Leenock, Symbol and DRG all use mutas frequently to great effect. I think muta style suits idra better and if anything, the switch to mass medivacs is almost nullifying the infestor style.

Muta's are not supposed to be a surprise unit, they are not supposed to do economic damage. This was the same in BW, people went mutas, it forced turrets so essentially you are doing some sort of economic damage.

Also would like you to tell all the korean zergs who use mutalisks that they are dead (and they win with them to, DRG beat mkp with them as well). Both styles are good and both depend on maps, maps like antiga are definitely a bad muta map, but a map like taldarim/daybreak/etc are not bad muta maps at all.

I haven't kept up with SC2 metagame, but do the koreans use Mutas with the same build as before, or is it a new muta build?

If youve been following the gstl, a guy like zenex life uses theese fast lair, into muta ling pressure builds in both zvt and zvp to great effect... Though i know he propably scoffs of that kind of active play, i would love for idra to try something like that... I just love his play when he gets agressive and takes charge of the game... Like in the days of old, when he would hydra drop like crazy in zvp

Yeah, but even if he switched back now, he would have to practice the muta build all over again, which should be easier than this anyway, since he loves that build and hates the infestor one. I really don't know, but I have to say, nothing was more epic than when an actual swarm of mutas, blings and lings rushed for the enemy tank like and obliterated everything. That was an actual zerg swarm, when I saw that I really thought that it was a zerg masterpiece, the true zerg now a slow-moving, immobile force, a deathball if you wish.

I'm trying to find that vid of 5 best engagements or something like that, really early in sc2, in which he got twice, I think, both with ling bling muta. That was fucking awesome

There has to be something going on with him. he's not even laddering well. i really think he needs to switch back to terran like he played in brood war. That's where he was great right? Standard is how he wants to play. Then terran would be my thought.

I don't think it's a good time to switch races. He would need his time to get a top player and HoTS will be out before that i think. So maybe he should switch races when HoTS comes out....

Totally remember this, Bel'Shir beach? Idra's engineered some of the most awesome zerg moments. I was basically sexually aroused by his nydus play against puma at IEM China.

I know I suck at the game, but I wonder if zergs could use nydus + 3base spine turtling to defeat protoss 2-base all-ins? Could stall out push at zerg third by baiting FFs long enough to send some roaches to hit protoss expand, then nydus them back to hold zerg expand? I love it when zergs place the nydus far enough away that it doesn't get insta-killed while spawning. PS my dream is to get idra to call me an idiot!!!

There is a 2 base Nydus all-in with Hydras that Zerg can do, but IDK if you can manage 3 bases, Nydus, and hold off an all-in. Nydus costs 200 gas to make, and 100 gas to make the exit I think. Considering how strong protoss 2-base all-ins are atm, you really need that gas.

I think I remember Idra doing that nydus hydra all-in a few times, but it usually failed, I think.

I think it is safe to judge by Idras performance thet even TLO could beat him.
