I'm not too sure why there is so much hate going on again. I thought the song was pretty good, that being said, I also thought The Boys was alright. So I'm generally on the higher end of fandom.
The one thing I read a lot is the fact that this song has ALOT of elements, and it does, no doubt. But these parts aren't bad in their own way, if they could make separate songs out of all the elements, I could still see pretty decent songs. Also, the parts actually link quite well, as in they edited it rather well. Let's take Bohemian Rhapsody from Queen, that's the epiphany of MIXED song... Well, that worked out. Ok ok this is where people will stop reading because I'm comparing Queen with SNSD but please don't because I still have some things to cover.
So then we have the MV/Style, that was pretty damn f(x) at first sight but waaay more street, go check NUABO now, you'll see the difference. The dance was pretty cool, very SMish. And when I first looked at the MV I felt that this was something only they could perform live. As in... APink 3 years from now, not sure if they can. Seeing how they are the 'SNSD but better'. The MV is very pretty, a lot of colors, and very SNSD.
What I don't like about this song is the random Fanny part near the end. And the longhaired dude in the MV :p
*edit added more space ><

Ace Yoona doesn't have any talents that would lend themselves to a solo stage... what's she going to do, sit in a chair and look pretty?
|
I did like the boys, but holy shit this last song is terrribad, what's happened to snsd, flower power was also really bad

Best performances were the covers at the end -__-

The song is bad, but at least it allows me to add a new phrase to my vernacular "A- YO; Geee Geeee"
EDIT: upon watching the MV a second time, good god is it atrocious. like absolutely torrid. What da fuq are you doing SM Ent???

I have a hard time agreeing but .... ya its not as good as it should be the song is so so ... you expect a lot more from SM.
edit: so the album isnt bad .... SM needs to get better lead songs, the boys and this song are NOT lead track material. if they think they release this crap in the American market later this year and make it they are kidding them selves.

AIYO GEE GEE <--- this is ludicrously fun to say. lol. only redeeming feature of the song.
Meh, I don't know why they went with the ratchet themed attire for this promotional cycle, it's like they raided Hyuna's closet from her Ice Cream promotional cycle, and just draped the girls in it.
Dancing is pretty strong, with decent difficulty of choreography; but to be honest this isn't a guy group, so no one actually cares how difficult the dance is >.> Sacrificing looking cute as fuq, for difficult dance moves doesn't do shit for a group.
Also, whats with the terrible transitions between beats? No joke, upon listening to the first 10 seconds, I was wondering how much torture I'd have to endure upon watching it; 5min long? Are you joking? If you're gunna make a shit song, at least make it short.
I don't get it, it's not like SME can't make decent music in 2012, (TVXQ, SHINee, etc)....
THIS IS NOT THE SNSD I FELL IN LOVE WITH. GOD DAMNIT.

Da fuq, how is this a case of sacrificing looking cute for dance? When was the last time they tried to look cute? Regardless they still looked awesome for the most part...Sunny is a bit on the line and Sooyoung...at least they kept her covered unlike the live performance where you can see bare skin and see how fucking skinny she is.
Since I don't want to fill in your "etc" for you, I'll stick to the two you listed. What was wrong with Catch Me/Humanoids and Sherlock?

girls please. stop playing with my heart edit: xyz is listenable, so is look at me

Reading comprehension plox. I said SME can make decent music; but they choose not to. I used Catch Me/Humanoids, and Sherlock as proof they can still make decent music....
Because, when you're dancing to hard, you're putting the effort into dancing, and not smiling. Also, hard dances are too try hard for a girl group. Girl groups suppose to go for that qt delicate look, but then when you see them trying to do dance heavy stuff it totally breaks that image. Look at that Bora solo dance performance at the Gayo Daejun (forgot which one), cool dance, but no smiles.

Brain automatically decided on what you wrote, even if you wrote something different based on your name.
Smiles, qt delicate look. Ah I get it. Because that's what you thoroughly enjoy that groups must do that or it is a stupid decision. Gotcha. "Suppose to go for that qt delicate look". Famous Kuja words inc:

Well, the ratchet look doesn't really fit them...
I mean its fine if they want to go with a dance heavy concept; they could've just done it with a bit more class...
