Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.

Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.
Who would have thought the girl born 23 years ago on this day, would become the leader of 소녀시대.
Today we celebrate her birthday!
Thank you for being the best singer. Thank you for being an amazing radio DJ. Thank you for your dorkiness that makes us laugh. Thank you for taking care of the other members. Thank you for making the lives of SONEs happier. Thank you dear 태연, for everything that is you.
In our hearts you will always be our leader, no matter what. Happy Birthday, 태연.
Since today will probably be a day with lots of Taeyeon content, I'll keep it short.
Is it that hard to not put random korean in your posts? It doesn't even serve any purpose unlike Xenocide_Knight's post, his use of korean was useful because it preserved the original quote and he also provided translation.
All you did was un-translate Taeyeon and Girl's Generation/SNSD for no purpose at all. And to make it worse, you didn't even translate them. I could understand wtf you were saying through context only, the vast majority of the readers here don't speak or read korean and not everybody has a desire to learn.
FFS stop doing this shit.
PS. I did like the rest of your post though.
Since they are proper nouns, it's actually more appropriate to not translate them. Her name is 태연 and the group is called 소녀시대. As a direct translation the name of the group is Girl Generation, since there is no 의 (used to denote possession).
Being that this is a Korean music discussion thread, we can assume most with an interest would go to the trouble of taking a little time to learn the Hangul alphabet, which as the saying goes can be learned by a peasant in a day and by a learned man in an hour. Or at the very least not complain about it's use here if they are not interested.

Props if you can recognize and know what those names are as fast as you can read the english versions,+ Show Spoiler +
but I would wager the vast majority of readers here won't be able to name those w/o looking them up in some way or will spend a long time trying to decode them with the minimal Hangul they know.
And no I did not recognize Taeyeon's name in Hangul, the only reason I knew he was talking about her was because of the context of his post/the date/the other posts in the thread at the time.

Yeah I've told this story before but I'm taking Korean classes in college, the first class was literally just one hour of going over the syllabus and a brief runthrough of Hangul, and then we were expected to know it the next day. Not reading it quickly of course, but everyone could at least remember which symbol made which sound.

Sojin is one idol I could get obsessive about. Not digging through her trash, but I have had her on my desktop a few times. Shame she makes terrible music.

I can get behind Girl's Day's brand of bubbly cutesy music. Their songs do get repetitive though.
Post above me: it's true. I find it refreshing too, nice change from either high school dropout idols/idols who went to college for a "fine arts" degree and never actually attended. I can appreciate the fact that she's probably smarter than I am lol

I first noticed Girl's day while watching City Hunter, which they had done a song for called Cupid. I checked out their other music and was extremely disappointed. Actually between that and that dungeon fighter track they did, I think they have at least potential to make music that isn't completely obnoxious.
I realise there is a market for what they are selling, I'm just not the target audience. Well, aside from thinking they are all fine young ladies.

Why don't they all just learn to speak American?
It literally takes 30 minutes to learn how to read korean. People are just that fucking lazy bro.

I guess it really boils down to "cute sells in Korea"

The unreal thing is that I didn't even know how bad his condition was as I study away from home and didn't get a chance to go home a lot. They didn't tell me, I didn't ask...they knew I needed to pay attention to school. Well...I didn't find out until it was too late. I was devastated...but after reading your story, it makes me wonder what would have happened to me if I was in your shoes...so many tragic events in such a short period of time...I am extremely happy that you found your light.
I am so depressed right now. T.T
I'm curious Waterhaak, what time was it for you when you did your midnight post?
For me it was 4PM so not really a big deal, had to do it during lectures, was kind of a boring day anyway.
I have no problem sharing my story because it's part of what makes me who I am. No sense in denying it. Though I don't usually talk about myself because there no purpose contextually most of the time.
For what it's worth, I dunno about other people but personally I want to learn Hangul I just never find the time between all the projects I have to do for uni, gym, and all the reading I do for leisure and all the reading I do for uni, family stuff etc. So no, not everyone just plain has the time to dedicate to it. I mean sure, I could put a hold to my other stuff to learn but it's not that high on my priorities list.
And man.. Always Sojin. Why no love for this babe? :D
All of Girl's Day are beautiful. To paraphrase someone from a few pages back, ranking girl's day members is a challenge because everyone has their favourites, but you feel bad about the ones you ranked low because they are still damn fine. Best to not bother at all.

I thought the same about Minah to begin with, but my Korean friend will argue all day that she is the best looking in the group. I guess I've warmed to her recently. Isn't Hyeri 18ish? That's well past legal where I'm from.

Minah would be more attractive if she didn't try to eyesmile and aegyo her way through life.
@Why no Yura talk- Yura is my favorite in the group, easily the most attractive. I used to put Sojin second but Hyeri is up there too...Sojin wins cause of intelligence though but considering only physical attractiveness those two are about the same for me.
