That's unfortunate. Gunbuster's one of the few super robots I've seen, but it's one of my personal favorites. As Sentenal mentioned, the first three episodes are kinda meh, but it did get better later on. I liked it for the use of realistic time dilation as a dramatic element. I also enjoyed how the aliens felt strange and unfathomable (as aliens should be), and how the moments of despair seemed truly hopeless. But yeah, I guess it's not a show for everyone.

Samurai girls and MM specials out. It'll probably be a bunch of stupid fanservice, but i'm downloading it anyways...

Finished Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou. I think this is the first ecchi I like.
Think I'll start Death Note and Amagami SS.
|
okok, my fault, I only watched the first two or three episodes of Gunbuster and was like lame training bots and all chick schools drama.... Blegh, maybe when they get out into space it get's cooler, your description of the aliens makes me want to try it again.
|
Ichiban was ok, I like the ecchi, even though it was harem, the main character wasn't completely retarded so its k.
This is what i think about DN: + Show Spoiler [death note] + It was good, till like episode 24 ish but then it turned retarded near the end
Amagami SS + Show Spoiler [Amagami SS] + Was decent, till the last arc, which was hyped and was good for like the first 1 or 2 episodes but then it wasn't that good

+ Show Spoiler [Death Note] +I assume episode 24 is when L dies? I read this hastily before, but thing after L died seemed quite bad.
Going to start Gunbuster too lol.

Amagami SS + Show Spoiler +It's just a cute little thing. There is really nothing too serious about it because you don't really have enough time to really feel too much for each of the girls, but I guess I did enjoy it for what it was.
DeathNote + Show Spoiler +It's one of those shows that kind of is in a league of it's own. Great story and great plot twists, though I actually think the ending was a bit lacking.
As for ecchi if it's not too over the top I don't actually mind it. Actually, a lot of people didn't really like shuffle!, but I enjoyed it even through the stupidity of most of it.

lol, finally caught back up on SRW. Ep 17 so busy hahahah.

Ichiban was pretty well done for an ecchi. It really helped that the main character was awesome and that the series in general focused on being crazy awesome. Also, PETERHAUSEN.
I still submit that the only good part of Shuffle was Kaede.

The first two episodes are solely training, which sucked because it was horribly cliche and had no aliens. We also meet Jung Freud, who has the dubious distinction of having the worst name I've ever seen in an anime. =/
The third episode is better and gives you your first good look at the setting of the show, but is hurt by the fact that Gunbuster is an OVA and not a full fledged series. On a side note, this episode shows that their lasers use lenses. I can't even describe how happy I was to learn that since hard sci-fi shows are so few and far in between.

No. That's what kept the original work's atmosphere intact, not to mention how the insert text was like completely necessary because Bake revolves around the printed words. So yeah, learn Japanese and your appreciation for that goes up tenfold. Okay, that might be. I don't know the original work and I can't read Japanese (some screens were translated but you needed to be pretty fast on your pause key, too annoying for something that should be relaxing), so it just left a bad impression on me. I know that I would enjoy a "traditional" version much more, but I know that I'm in the minority with my dislike of Bakemonogatari. Regarding Ayase, why did she handcuff him? To threaten him? It was more of a service for those who read the original, since we'd be able to see at just a glance more or less the line in question while hearing it. Then if there are wordplays usually they keep the line/words in question on screen so you can get it. Honestly without it people just won't get a ton of the puns in the series. As for Ayase, it is just her way of expressing her love and flirt with Kyosuke. I am serious. Are any of the LNs translated yet?
Well, the first 4 volumes chapters of volume 1 are translated for sure here. Although there aren't real manuscripts out yet, there is a guy's blog which has pretty damn detailed summaries of all 7 volumes here!
Hope you'll enjoy.

That's four chapters, not four volumes. I thought it was strange that they'd be so far ahead of Baka-Tsuki in terms of translated stuff.
Anyway, volume 1 is like the first 2-3 episodes of the anime. You're probably better off just reading the summaries.
Edit: I'm pretty sure the translation's stalled. I think the only reason chapter 4 got completed was because of the anime, and now that it's over, well...
I swear, ZnT is the only LN that gets regular updates. DenYuuDen has been seeing a lot of progress lately though.

My bad, corrected it! Yeah I don't think we'll see the other volumes translated any time soon since the anime and the hype that went along with it ended. But the 12 episodes (or was it 13?) cover basically ~4 volumes if I'm not mistaken. I forgot in which volume the anime ends on, but I'm pretty sure it's the whole first 4 volumes. It's just that the end of the LN vol.4 is different than it was in the anime.
ZnT was a traumatic experience, please don't bring back the bad memories =(

Pretty sure it's vol 4. And you should probably spoiler that stuff. <_<
I'm still kinda pissed at how they handled that in the anime. "Good end" my ass.
