I think Free woke them up and they just were like "wow, gotta do the same for guys". Not that I've actually seen it myself but I'd imagine it goes down the same path just for girls.
There was a period when it seemed like they'd relaps in that one Sento episode but they pulled through and delivered light hearted, fluffy comedy until the end instead of trying to hard (that's a good thing) like they've done so much recently.

Chuunibyou season 1 was fine and the "bullshit melodrama" was foreshadowed the whole time. I get you like cute shows and wanted it to be nothing more than cutexcute but not everything that a little drama inbetween moeblobing is bad. I get there're a lot of shows that force drama way too hard but Chuunibyou really didn't do that and it did the drama well.
In fact I don't even understand how you label any drama as "bullshit melodrama". Is it just because you ONLY want fluffy 24/7?
|
it's bullshit melodrama for KyoAni because it's always exactly the same in every show they've been doing recently, just for the sake of putting drama in it wether it fits or not. I didn't mind it in chuuni-1 at that time. After Kyoukai no Kanata and chuuni-2 it's just fad...
|
Well yea Kyoukai no Kanata was just a shit show and Chuuni-2 a cash crab I feel since they discard all the progress done in S1 for more fluff. Just think it's wrong saying it's bullshit in Chuuni-1 when it was done pretty well imo. Drama in fluff shows can be done well and can enhance the experience. It's just sometimes it's really forced.

Besides that, I agree with Numy.

Kyoani just needs to give me more Nichijou. ;;
Too bad it sold like shit. Or maybe it even sold worse than shit. T__T;;;;

Donten Warau was solid.
Needed more Nishiki though.

I don't mind drama one but. I mind it if a studio puts drama into every show that looks happy-go-lucky as a giant TWIST midseason like it's the only recipe they know for how to make anime. If you say Free had plenty of drama as well and think amaburi did too that just goes to show that... That works once or twice and it gets boring because you already know what they're going for while doing it in some way that's just really stupid... like wtf was that blood girl being reborn in the end of Kyoukai no Kanata? That shit still gets me angry. Had she stayed dead fine, you know what's going to happen 2 episodes in but they'd at least pull through but that shit?
|
Well in Amaburi I would be concerned if there wasn't at least SOME drama. You can't have a show that has so much on the line to be drama free.
With Chuuibyou they could have gone either way really. You either address the underlying problem or you don't. One has to grow up sometime and drop acting that way eventually.

Haha, that show got unwatchable when they went the drama route. But at the very least, it was foreshadowed, so it wasn't a complete abmonination of writing.

I don't mind that. It would have been strange to have amaburi completly without drama. The fact that they didn't go full pants on head drama is what made it good/better drama than the most stuff KyoAni has done recently. Though honestly the sento episode still kind of came out of nowhere...and ended in nowhere...
That being said I was just scared that they would go full derp and use the same onetrick pony à la chuuni-2 again.

Don't care what anyone says, I loved that scene between MC and Shichimiya where she tries not to cry.
|
It's hard to blame those things on Kyoani.
|
Why? A lot of the anime they make might be adaptions of other stories but the stories are often altered heavily and end up being very different from the original with new characters and the plot unfolding completely differently.
A lot of kyoani drama is their own doing afaik.

+ Show Spoiler [pp11] + wow akane has been working out, overpowering the enforcer guy like that 0_o
edit: ty toad, u saved me there ^^
|
it's spoiler=text not spoiler:text
|
Yeah have you read the original dramalamas? It's not much better. Imagine if Kyoani didn't alter things. It's not very straightforward.

Chunni s2 was boring for me. S1 was well paced, had some progress regardless of its size and a good ending then s2 felt like they went back to step 1 with how some of the characters were acting. It did still retain some funny moments though and had some cute stuff (a bit too much at times).

+ Show Spoiler +ya, it's dang annoying lol. The medications were enough but now we see her barely making it home in good shape and then telling him though he doesn't hear it that she won't be around forever. I hope they don't kill her and have him go into depression then come out of the end stronger and better than he used to be. Play in her memory kind of thing.
I'd prefer they had some drama and a situation where I dunno, she gets really sick but he plays his heart out and wins first place with the song reaching her to help her recover. Might be cheesy but better than the struggle and find peace at the end of the show.

+ Show Spoiler +Could be a thing. He couldn't help when his mother died and he tried to play for her to get better. Then he plays for Kaori to get better and it works. Would be cheesy but I guess I would like that. o.O
Last episode was ok. The comedy scenes somehow didn't seem so out of place this time. I also liked that he will be teached again from now on. Go and fuck that old snooze dude of a competition jury bastard.
