If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

With better animation quality all the time, it's becoming more and more difficult for vocal and lip to sync.

Whenever I look at people animating people's mouths in anime it's always just their mouths moving up and down, and rarely do they look like their actually following the words that are coming out the person's mouth.

It has very little to do with lip syncing and a lot to do with talent and experience. Many of the most talented anime VAs tend to also dub over popular Hollywood movies, they just do it better than normal actors. One of the biggest reasons Princess Mononoke did so well internationally was because of the presence of many famous and talented actors, Gillian Anderson from The X Files, Billy Bob Thornton, Minnie Driver from Good Will Hunting, and several others.

The newer anime is a lot better at this though, which was my point. Also the length of the movement is very important, since usually English takes more pronunciation to communicate same meaning. When lips stopped moving but voice keeps going it becomes somewhat distracting.

I'm not referring to the voices. I'm referring to how they animate their mouths. This is just a relatively small issue, but just comparatively speaking, the accuracy to which animation studios here in America work to make sure the movement of the lips correspond with the words is much better than I've seen in Japan (in my short experience of course).

Agreed, but I haven't seen a lot of new anime really demonstrate that they're better. If I recall correctly, a lot of these studios just don't have as much money, so I'm assuming a lot of times, relatively unimportant stuff like making sure the lips are drawn in sync with the words just isn't considered amid the other priorities?

So I started to watch Kaiji up to episode 10 after he leaves the cruise he is invited to the party and it's enjoyable at times but the anime feels like it's dragging out scenes with characters repeating points. I also found myself wanting to skip all of Kaiji's thought processes to the point where he "solves" things instead of trying to have to follow what the distribution of cards means. I suppose I've just become a lazy viewer and watching this series reminds me of when I watched Case Closed/Detective Conan.

Nobunaga's Ambition mods are fun, but Tendou itself is not as good as previous ones. Kakushin is much better. I remember playing a mod with all Touhou charas.

Gillian Anderson was a-ma-zing in Mononoke.

Don't bother with the actual intellectual tricks and problem solving. Problems are honestly not hard in Kaiji.
You just have to feel deep in your soul the sheer manliness, the moe, the zawa-zawa, the narrator's voice, the psychological struggle, Taniuchi's music, the Kaiji-san spam, the unnecessarily epic metaphors and allegories. Take it all in. At once.
That's Kaiji.

the touhou one was amusing but became quickly boring because of how broken some touhous were. Like tenshi and iku were broken as fuck (lol lightning and earthquake), reisen was broken as fuck, cirno could become broken as fuck (during le winter)

meanwhile sakuya was meh, reimu was meh, and ufo had like 30 heroes

Don't you have to be funny in order to be hilarious? Or make jokes, or generally have some sort of humor going on?

Lol do you have no sense of humor or something? The part where it showed her over break doing no work and then calling Kagami to have a study group right after Miyuki did, whenever she just randomly interjects stuff about games into conversations, her having few real life friends but talks about all her friends online... it's just so much like me and a lot of people I know.

Oh wow. That is the funniest thing I've ever heard of. So its funny when people are talking, and then you randomly interject otaku stuff. You are like that too? I bet you would be the life of all your friend's parties.

Wait... you are alive? Thought you got permed.

Problem with Lucky Star is that not only it's filled with anime references, it got a ton of culture references. Even worse, culture references from 30 years ago. So the target audience is like mid aged person.
