The Hobbit Loved it, I would even say I enjoyed it more that LOTR, but I would have to rewatch the trilogy to confirm that. Loved the slower pacing and smaller scale, the extra lore. Kinda annoyed by the forced comedic sections, but still - 8.5/10 One thing bothered me though + Show Spoiler +why didn't they take the giant birds straight to the lonely mountain?

Really nice overall : Neeson is simply excellent, the first hour is almost perfect, and a few scenes stand out (the renoucement of one of the guy). It's a bit too long and redudant at times though, and doesn't avoid every cliché of the genre, but overall a really good surprise. 6.5/10 That movie lost me about fifteen minutes in... + Show Spoiler +...when Liam Neeson's supposed manly-man master of survival, wolf-hunter extraordinaire leads everyone away from everything that could possibly help them survive, be noticed, and be rescued.
Normally I'm happier than most to suspend disbelief for the sake of the story, but that was just too much, especially when other characters make the correct calls and get painted as selfish, cowardly morons for their trouble. I did appreciate the way the movie played out after that, though. It's a survival movie genuinely focused on the characters themselves, and I'm down with that. I just wish the initial premise hadn't been so retarded. I think that's part of what makes the movie good. As Liam Neeson himself puts it, he really isn't sure of what he should be doing. he's not a superhuman, he's just calmer than the others. And yes I agree he makes that mistake, but it's not that retarded. They feel desperate, lost, I don't see why they wouldn't make a bad decision. Also I don't think a single character is portrayed as selfish in the movie.
The guy who wants to stay at the plane certainly is. If not selfish, obviously dumb/redneck/etc. And he's the only one in the whole movie who actually gets it right.
Neeson's obviously not superhuman, but he's played that way at times. I'd be happy to accept that he made a wrong decision if that realisation had actually dawned at some point, and if the other side of the decision wasn't so utterly stripped of respect. You can't tell me plane dude is anything other than the lazy, redneck mirror of Neeson's brave adventurer at that point.

Just saw life of Pi.
Really enjoyed it. Really did a good job of mixing the beautiful with the horrible, the literal with the alegorical.
I loved the tiger.
edit - Actually the more I think about it, the less I liked the ending + Show Spoiler +the way they spell out that his story is a parable for what actually happened. they should have left it ambigous.

Because then it wouldn't be a trilogy

Mother (2009) - 8.5/10

Fortunately, this is much more Memories of Murder than it is The Host. Joon-ho Bong must really have a low opinion of the police in Korea.

Just watched Resident Evil: Retribution, and boy is it something.
Quality acting from a cast that should all be given multiple oscars for their performances, a plot that would make David Lynch go: "Eh shit, that's too convoluted and complex even for me", special effects up the wazoo, extremely tasteful, and not at all excessive usage of slowmotion, etc etc. This movie, and in fact -- whole franchise, is pushing the boundaries for excellence in the art of cinema(tography), you should all feel blessed as to live a world where a miracle such as RE:R happened.

^ are you trolling ? it has an effin 5.3 score on imdb .
just watched the newest film of Tarantino, Django Unchained and boy I was pleased and entertained. Tarantino delivers once again, great cast and acting. go see it in the cinemas.

I had to go watch The Impossible with Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor and it was one of the worst movies I have seen in my life. It compares very much with that Monica Belluci movie where she gets raped to get my no.1 worst movie ever. Even twilight was better than this.

The Battle of Algiers (1966) 10/10 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058946/ A perfect portrayal of Algeria's struggle for independence from the French. Suprisingly impartial given this was produced by the Algerian government only 6 years after independence.
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007) 8/10 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401383/ Mostly true story based off the autobiography of a former Elle Magazine Chief Editor who wakes from a coma with locked in syndrome (cannot move anything but eyelids). Drags in parts so not for those who hate slow movies with no action, but a well-told story nevertheless. Film is French.

Had a few good moments. Pretty unremarkable. Not as bad as people make it out to be, though.

The Hunger Games -
![[image loading]](http://www.hungergamestrilogy.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/hunger-games-catching-fire_510x755.jpg)
I delayed watching the movie because all of the hate and bashing even though I love the genre. The movie was surprisingly good. Jennifer Lawrence gave a quiet well performance. I think it lacked some stuff like the canon no being used as I felt should have and a bit of kitsch ending which was OK by me considering its a teenagers movie.
So as a reference to Battle Royal I would say that: The Hunger Games had a better story line but as a stand alone Battle Royal is slightly better. It was clear that without the need to keep it a teenagers movie it had better tools to show how cruel one can get in the game though the production of The Hunger Games was a lot better. There was some scenes on Battle Royal that got me thinking if the movie takes it seriously or just joking around. Battle Royal had a quite better potential to be a 9+ movie while The Hunger Games potential realized and it's 7/10 movie. So overall I think both movies are almost at the same level for me while Battle Royal slightly in the lead.
7/10.

Django Unchained 9/10 great movie as expected from Quentin Tarantino. Cristoph Waltz does a great job, hope he wins Oscar for supporting role, Sam Jackson and diCaprio are just pure awesome, Franco Nero the one who played in the original Django is casted and in the end Tarantino is the bomb. Seven psychopaths 6/10 the movie started good, but slowly just went down the drain. I was expecting more out of it but if you have a couple of hours and some popcorn to waste is ok. Skyfall 6/10 don't know why people are praising the movie so much, since Daniel Craig joined the franchise all his movies are like Call of Duty, no story, just kill and blow up stuff. At the end the movie just looked like Rambo and Home Alone.

I'm not quite sure if you've seen either of those movies. Se7en is a movie about a guy killing people based on the seven sins and the police trying to catch him. Mother is about a girl being killed, the police wrongfully arresting someone, and his mother then trying to find out who the real killer is. Unless you think that Se7en invented the police/murders, I have no idea what you're talking about.

The short of it is in the book the Eagles spoke. And when they spoke they said why they didn't want to fly any further. They would fly as far as Carrock, but they wouldn't fly further and risk the Woodsman arrows. And there was no butterfly hail the Eagle-Taxi service. They are not beasts of burden to be summoned at will, but do their own thing.
