Last year I saw a post about this special kind of a race that looked so exiting and my first and reaction from the videos was Damn they are so crazy! Well the movie kinda confirms that(lol), and give a great look into the race, it's histories a bit, meeting a special guy named Guy, the dangers in it, the fun and the love for it. The movies production was really great, though it's not at the same level of "Art of Flight" it's still is well made. You should definitely check out the movie.

If you liked that one, I would recommend watching Senna (assuming you haven't watched it already).

But I assume that the smart heads in here will be up for that, if so you will love it! :D
I have seen Cloud Atlas, going into it after reading some other ''if you don't enjoy it then you're some 15 year old whose moustache didn't even start showing or you're IQ is below the average'' comment on some other website. I couldn't find any links between timelines, and other than the fact that I liked the Commander 'dodge'em all bullets' and srsly enjoyed robert frobisher's story I found it to be just a stacked pack of a multitude of stories. Perhaps the book was great, I don't doubt that, but I couldn't find the relationship between the timelines meaningfull at all. If that's what the movie was about I completely missed it. I can't say I watched the movie very attentively though.
I watched the Words two days ago and I can't decide if it's a genuinely deep one, or just a cheap scam. It's confusing me, but I'm leaning more towards the second choice. Mainly because Quaid was really bad in the third "part".

I'm really curious how can you make a distinction between a movie worth 8.5 and one worth 8.4 (or 8.6, wouldn't matter)?
Do you have a guideline to this hyper precise system of yours or are you just making these up randomly?
I never thought rating on a scale more than 10 makes any sense, personally, and agree with anyone (f.e.: YT) who says that most people only tend to use the two extremes of a scale.

Hello Buddy,
Just wanted to say watch it again. I'll give some little tips. a) Try to separate each story in your mind. b) Pay very close attention to: setup of each story, choices made in the story and the ending of each story.
Now to draw you a little story diagram and some highlights, pay attention to each highlight in order to easily understand. Mild movie spoilers coming up so click or don't.
-Story starts with people being slaves. -Some general (as in it affects society) "bad" choices are made -Some general (as in it affects society) "good" choices are made -Some particular (as in it affects only a small group of individuals) "good" choices are made -Some particular (as in it affects only a small group of individuals) "bad" choices are made. -People die -People find love -Another story ends with people stopped being slaves
I've quoted bad and good because there are no genuine good or bad choices made. Each action is good, or bad depending on how you look at them. Something is bad because the people performing the action gets killed. Same something is good because it rights a wrong in society.
PS about ''if you don't enjoy it then you're some 15 year old whose moustache didn't even start showing or you're IQ is below the average''
Totally true comment, and at the same time it could not be more false.
Edit* At the same time I saw "Philadelphia Experiment" 2012. It was so full of nonsense that I could not watch it to the end.
Like how do use a banknote issued in 1940`ish to pay for a coffee today? Where the hell do you find a phone booth nowadays? WHO uses phone-booths nowadays? Why would someone use a red dot laser to trigger a "tripwire" mine? the whole point of a mine is not to be seen until you are dead.
Stopped watching at around half and went to get a sandwich.
Just watched "Killer Joe". It is carefully and effectively demented, but also darkly humorous. It has certainly been burned into my brain and it will be hard to remove the scar (try as I might). Definitely check it out, but don't plan on sleeping right after...

You should typically avoid dismissing criticism of a movie as necessarily stemming from a failure to understand its complexity, especially in the case of the not-particularly-complex Cloud Atlas. I'd imagine criticisms of this movie stem more from the fact that over the course of six different stories we don't get anything deeper than a battle of the comically evil against the comically good. A somewhat enjoyable watch, but not much more.

Will definitely watch this next. Should be emotional deco. I was saving that movie for a time when I will feel like ready to watch it. Maybe it's time.
Following-2/10. Terrible audio, terrible actors, terrible script, terrible staging, unclear story framing device, poor transitions. Worse production value than most IFC movies. A skeleton in Nolan's closet if I've ever seen one.
while i really liked the first half because of its cruelty, the absence of that in the second part made the movie not as good as it could have been. putting in a bit more shown brutality and maybe a side story of one of the guys she killed and i'd give it 9/10 easily. the fact that this is declared to be a movie and story for kids, while explaining the absence of more brutality, is completely absurd considering it's story-line and the fact that the movie while being really mean in the beginning suddenly falls back to cliché-characters as a result is quite a letdown.

this was a really good documentary. He's a fascinating individual even if you're not into formula 1 racing.

Jesus, what a bunch of garbage this movie was. Stay away at all costs.

Movie was bad, but wow the soundtrack was good.
Another bad movie with a good soundtrack was Cloud Atlas.
These two scores definitely deserve Oscar nods, but in a year with John Williams, Alexandre Desplat, and Dario Marionelli, they don't have a chance, which is a shame.
DREDD, I just saw this movie and it was fucking sick! I thought the action was very good, good special effects and no bullshit. Its an action flick done right. I hate that its gotten so overlooked, can't wait till it does good on DVD. Definitely watch this. 8.5/10 action flick
Also, I just saw "The Perks of Being a Wall Flower".....to put it simply, I did not want the movie to end. Its a coming of age story but it didn't feel like the typical run of the mill one. I enjoyed every single character and found myself emotionally attached to them at the end. The acting was superb, the story was great and the overall message/theme was beautiful. 10/10 I really hope this movie gets recognition. Do yourself a favor and watch it.
21 It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be based on the reviews. The acting was fine. The kind you'd expect from a big hollywood blockbuster but not great. There was little to complain about.
The movie does not explain how to count cards but if you do know how to count you'll understand what he's trying to do. I thought most of the movie was over the top, like Hollywood found a true story and then embellished it with everything short of vampires to make it more appealing to mass markets. (I know people who've seen The Social Network thought it was odd there were so many incredibly hot girls at the frat party).
Not a great watch, but there's very little to watch these days.
