That being said, I don't believe The Matrix should be in anyone's top 10 films. I'm not sure what you're trying to get at.

It should if you're into deep movies and want to look behind what first meets the eye. But there will always be people who only care about fight scenes.

Similarly, The Matrix is a great film without all the action and reputation of Summer blockbuster / graphics leap. In fact, I think the Matrix with all the fight scenes edited out would still be fantastic. It's one of those modern films where the acting and atmosphere just jump off the screen! I'd also put Gladiator in that category, classic fight scenes but a great atmosphere with great acting (even the peripheral characters are excellently acted). I don't think The Matrix is an intellectual film, but I think it has incomparable pacing and direction, it has a great script that went on to spawn many popular culture catchphrases, and the acting is just incredibly memorable from Fishburne and Weaving. You simply can't ignore its impact and quality.

9/10 One of the best drama movies I've seen in awhile. Lincoln was amazingly well played and the scenes they had while in the house debating the 13th amendment were the highlight of the movie for me (and they spent alot of time there). Tommy Lee Jones also played an awesome Stevens, awesome acting imo. Flight 7/10 Another great drama but the excessive themes of alcohol abuse and religion made me bored while watching and I tabbed out a couple times during the slow parts to do other things. Aside from that the more intense scenes of the movie make up for it and Denzel Washington was amazing in this movie the entire time. If you don't want to watch this movie, watch the first 30min, while he's in the airplane it was the best part of the movie BY FAR. Taken 2 6/10 Same premise as the first movie and I wasn't disappointed as I came into it knowing exactly how stuff was going to play out. Car scene when the daughter is driving was very annoying, Liam and her repeat the same lines at least 6 times, GO FASTER, I CANT!. Other than that it was another movie where Liam Nelson is a complete badass, fight scenes were good, and everything with Liam doing something was awesome. Not too much to expect, generic fight scene, car chase, spy movie.

I'll live with it and keep on believing Bergman and Tarkovski are better than the Wachowski's and that Georges Delerue and Morricone are better composers than Hans Zimmer. Was in the mood for some simplistic action shizzle, but this was disgustingly bad. Action was standard action movie action, but especially boring and too extensive, story unwillingly ridiculous (unlike Shoot'em Up, where the action was intentionally ridiculous) and flat. Acting was bloodless and uninterested, the ludicrous ending almost made me vomit. Worst movie i've seen in around 3 years and really disturbing in its message of vigilantism.

I think it was him, cause I agreed with everything and I found him to be a big cinema(the good one, no matrix isn't a smart movie) fan.

Zero Dark Thirty 9/10 I thought this was probably the best movie of the year and deserves most of the awards. The whole torture controversy it has I think is greatly overblown and people should not care too much about it. Jessica Chastain had a great performance and deserves to win Best Actress this year. This is a lot like Homeland and if anybody likes that tv show they need to go see this. This movie I would say is probably the one I believe that everyone needs to see this year. Django Unchained 8.3/10 I thought that this was good but the pacing of the story felt a bit off. I really enjoyed Christoph Waltz and Dicaprio's performance in this. I would say over all this is probably my third favorite Tarantino movie after Inglorious Bastards and reservoir dogs. Les Mis 8/10 I thought this was pretty good and probably my favorite musical. I thought most of the performances were great with Hathaway pretty much guaranteed to win best supporting actress this year. I thought the opening and closing scenes were really well done but the middle of the movie was kinda mediocre. Jack Reacher 6/10 I thought the movie was entertaining but was not able to live up to the books at all. I feel that Tom Cruise was still a poor choice and did not give the whole badass feel that Reacher should have. I also thought that the final action sequence happened much too quickly and the back story of the villain should have been expanded upon more. I would so most of the reasons why I dislike this movie is it just isn't the same as the book. Se7en 8.5/10 I finally got around to finishing this movie after starting it about a month ago. Kevin Spacey probably had one of the creepiest performances I have seen in awhile. I thought that the ending scene could have been written better since Pitt's character seemed to just whine the entire time. Fincher is probably my favorite director but I would put this at fourth out of all the movies i like. Arbitrage 7/10 I was disappointed in this movie since I went into it thinking that it was going to be something close to margin call or Wall Street. I do think that Richard Gere's performance was great and that it should be up there with DDL's and phoenix's for best actor this year. The Hobbit 6/10 With this being the second time I saw it I thought I would appreciate it a bit more but I was wrong. I still feel that the biggest problem with the movie was that the pacing was really off and that it should have been condensed to about 2 hours and 10 minutes. I felt that all of radagast scenes were not necessary and should have been kept out.

I suggest watching a bit more movies before acting superior with me because I watch popcorn movies oO Edit : to be more accurate, having lots of references everywhere has never made anything deep... I agree with most of what you say. The matrix came out when I was 9, and when I watched it back then I thought it was deep and smart, but re-watching it recently I realised that it really isn't that smart. What is impressive is how it has influenced sooo many films since then. It's a well done film, but not exactly thought provoking. I enjoyed inception, but only because I took it as an action film with good visuals. It isn't deep, and has many plot-holes, and almost tricks people into believing it is clever. Same goes with the matrix I guess. EDIT: And to actually add something to the thread... 8/10 Thoroughly enjoyed this. Absolutely love Clint Eastwood, and I was really touched towards the end. Don't assume this is just a fighting film, as it is much more about the relationship between the characters than boxing.

On a sidenote, if hipsters would watch and appreciate Bergman world would be a better place. But he is classic and hipsters that I know prefer some low-profile, budget, non-mainstream, independent, 30 minutes long, unknown director and actors, screened only at small local film festivals or independent cinemas movies.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1343727/ It's based off of the comics, and it reminded me off a Robocop/Terminator movie. Lots of action, simple storyline. Nothing super corny or cheesy, just an hour and a half of guns, blood, and violence. Gets kinda boring after a while just cause theres so much violence. Would've rated lower if it weren't for the fact that this is one of the few sci-fi action movies..
