Good movie, suprisingly unexpected ending. Good watch if your into thrillers with an absolutely messed up story line like Old Boy. 9/10
Also Watched Memories of Murder from someones post above
Too slow for my liking with nothing much happening through out. I guess it was based off a true story so i didnt expect anything unrealistic. 6/10
Anyone else recommend some top asian movies? Preferably ones which would have eng subtitles.
Good Asian Movies
Full Time Killer (action) My boss, My hero (comedy) My boss, my teacher (comedy) Friends (Korean must watch gangster movie!!!!!) Infernal Affair (action, if you've seen the Departed its the same thing, but the original) Flash Point (Action) SPL (Action) Needing You (Drama, okay movie) God of Gambler (comedy/action) Return of God of Gambler (comedy/action) Sword of the stranger (anime/action) Shiri (korean/action/ movie kinda drags on for a while)

About good asian (mostly korean) movies, i'll give you a list of my favorites, note that I'm mostly into polar / thriller / gangster movies, so most of them will be:
Korean amazing movies :
-A Bittersweet Life -Crying Fist -Old Boy -Memories of murder -A Dirty Carnival -The Man From Nowhere (/ Ajeossi) -3-Iron -I Saw The Devil -Joint Security Area -Welcome to Dongmakgol -Friend (/ Chingoo, might be easier to find under that title) -Attack The Gas Station -Conduct Zero -Rough Cut -The Chaser
Hm, japanese i'm not very fond of their cinema, but Kitano is a fucking genius, so Kids Return, Brother (/ Aniki), and Kikujiro are a must see, clearly, Battle Royal 1 was kinda good too but lots of people could dislike it.
The koreans I listed are (most of them) of an incredible quality, on many levels, acting, storyline, filming, but if I really had to advice 3 of them because most people wont try to watch every single one of them, I'd say : A Bittersweet Life, The Chaser and Welcome To Dongmakgol!
Hope will make some of you try korean cinema! By the way, just in case, I know some people can be suspicious when it comes to this kind of post, because they wonder "yeah he's just a korea fan boy, he likes everything that comes out of it, the movies must be average", actually I'm a huge fan of cinema since an early age, and fact is korean cinema is clearly the second (or even first, yeah sorry but american kinda lost some great originality in this past decade) cinema in the world. I mean they win prizes everywhere, there is a reason for that.
Oh, and because I'm french, and because our cinema reallllllllly suuuuuck, I have to say that A Prophet (Un prophète in french), is one of the best movies ever made, and yay it's french, Audiard saved our asses on this one, I'd even say it's my favorite movie in general, it's Scarface x100 seriously, watch it before you die.
Watched Real Steel. While robots were great and the CGI and especially the interaction between the robots and humans were very good (but nothing never before seen), it felt cheesy like those animated kids' films that try to tell a moral.
Which totally f**ked around with my expectations. I guess I'm too old. But still quite a lot of cheesy dialogue and acting in the movie, particularly with the father-son interactions. Speaking of son, that kid actor was almost as awful as young Anakin Skywalker.
Watched 50 50 today, was pretty good, the sort of film critics really like but can be slow at times. Seth Rogen was great, very funny as usual. Nice character development and not too weird/stupid like comedies with dramatic aspirations usually end up.
EDIT: OH GOOD GOD I just watched the Three Musketeers and when I say watched I meant fast forward through it. I was expecting a so-bad-it-is-funny film but it turned out to just be bad. The actor who portrayed the young musketeer (can't remember names) acted like such a dbag. The costumes were ridiculous, Milla Jovovich's character (Milady) was crazy as f**k, the airships and battle scenes were kind of good but it just ends up resembling a Pirates of the Caribbean in the air, except without the swagger of Johnny Depp nor the gallantry of real soldiers. What a mess.
The movie was pretty eh... I got bored at some points. I thought that it'd be too southern to relate to or understand, but it was more relatable than I thought. Enjoyable.
Watched The Chaser with a friend last night, A great movie. Both of us we're in shock when the movie ended, the scene at the shop was hard to watch seen what the villein was doing. I loved the plot, the acting was great too. Though there is one thing that bothers me is why the The murder was doing what he was doing. :| If your into Korean movies like my friend and I and you don't know what to watch next, watch this one.
Finally got around to seeing Children of Men, after being told by everyone and their dog how good it was. It was pretty damn amazing. I always enjoy Clive Owen, and he really knocked it out of the park in this one. Very dark film.
I also watched Spanish horror film La Casa Muda (or The Silent House), which was pretty awesome as well. It had quite a different feel from most other horror filmsand was very intriguing through-out its rather short run-time (circa 80 minutes). Was shot very nicely, I might add, with the camera following the main character for the entire film.
I recommend both, although Children Of Men will probably be better for the average movie-goer, as The SIlent House is a horror film. Will try to see Wrecked, with Adrien Brody, asap.
Just recently watched Black Swan and fucking loved it, Natalie Portman is one of the best actors period. Had no idea what to expect going into it, and some parts of it were a bit graphic for my taste, but I'd give it an 8.5-9.5 / 10 as a whole.
i kept expecting it to get better, but after an hour and 15 minutes or so i fell asleep... and i've never fell asleep at a movie before. it's literally the most boring movie i've ever seen.
but then again, i thought black swan was boring until the natalie portman/mila kunilingus scene... then the rest of the movie was boring again. i wonder if i missed a robert downey jr/jude law romp?
more movies to avoid are priest, red state and the inbetweeners movie.
on the recommendation side, already mentioned but my favourite movies of the last couple of years are A Perfect Getaway, Drive, Super 8, Adjustment Bureaux.... and a budget mention for The Loved Ones (older than 2 years though i think).

Why did you like the movie so much? Your rating is at least a bit off from that of either the link you posted or rottentomatoes.
Just saw it. 9/10
edit: I want to take a point back for the above move but I won't.
Today I started watching Restrepo. Got bored a quarter of the way through.
Trust: 9/10 I never would have understood why people take on a role of protecting their abusers. Why people don't report bad things that happen to them. Acting is just phenomenal.
Just watched this. I'm not sure whether to recommend it. As a fan of shocking/horiffic tragedies and such, I have to say this movie left a distinctively different impression on me. It didn't have the high-impact shock of some movies, but instead it just left an incredibly horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach for 90 minutes. I feel even worse now that it's over. The acting was absolutely first rate, at least on the part of the girl and the dad. Some parts are a bit cheesy and feel like they're trying to convey a message (which is why the movie was made, I guess) but it's definitely not "After School Special" TV-movie stuff like somebody else suggested. It's a very good Hollywood film. Still, I'm not sure who this appeals to, since even I don't know if I "enjoyed" it or just appreciated it for being very realistic and depressing.
Most dramas (even tragedies) have some ups and downs, this one is all downs. If you like that sort of thing though, 8.5/10.
"A true story of two men who should never have met - a quadriplegic aristocrat who was injured in a paragliding accident and a young man from the projects."

I think it tells a story about someone's life really well. The story doesn't necessarily have the happy ending that you normally see in movies.
