A separation. Beautiful movie, the best I've seen in theaters for quite sometimes. A story about two very different iranian couple, moral uncertainty, with a very smart plot and one of the best acting I have ever seen. Just rewatched this Kitano movie, which I love. Absolutely moving story, and very smartly filmed. A classic. A beautiful pacifist manifesto, very easy to watch and yet extremely smart too. Eric Von Stroheim and Pierre Fresnay are stunning. The humanism is palpable.

Nothing really happens in this movie. A character has an objective, and he goes about accomplishing it for two hours. There aren't really any major obstacles preventing him or any time-related stakes; he just does it. Who thought that this would be a good idea? The only really interesting parts are when he's talking to other people and they tell stories of what happened to them.
What? I loved every single minute of that movie! It's like a journey into the 70's, with a solid story line to boot. The dialogues, the props, the music, everything is carefully though out, and the slow-but-not-quite-too-slow pacing is great.
More like 2500 BC with mammoths, sabretooth tigers and the like in it. Apart from inaccuracy upon inaccuracy, the movie was actually pretty enjoyable to watch.

To each its own, I guess
It was OK but it definitely wasn't remarkable. If you compare it to movies like Three Days of Condor or even Spy Game, which are both relatively slow paced and spy-centric, it seems kind of bland and uninspired.
Contagion - Was good. I thought it was pretty accurate as to what would happen in that sorta situation.
Ong-Bak - Bad-ass movie. They kept doing double and even triple takes for some scenes though which was really strange and I was like wtf is going on?
Columbiana - I expected it to suck since it got panned pretty hard by everyone, maybe in that way it makes it easier to find something enjoyable about the movie. Overall I kinda liked it. Yeah, it's really improbable the way she goes about killing everyone and escaping from places but whatever. I do have a thing for Zoe Saldana though, that helped lol.
Haywire... Look movie producers, yeah chicks are hot, and that is why we watch porn... But there's a reason why male leads in action movies are better than female leads.

they probably did that because all the fighting scenes and stunts were done how you see them in the movie. So no hidden wires pulling the actors or other typical tricks used for action scenes
This movie talks about stuff like whether what Batman does, arresting criminals who kill, instead of actually ending them, is right. I guess this has parallels with our justice system and whether we should put criminals down too. Doesn't force anything on you. Good to watch. Nice action sequences and cohesive plot. Better than most of the other animated movies.
It was pretty decent. I must say I enjoyed it and I like what they did with the remake. I also like the fact that there are more movies coming out that go back to the original Nosferatu theme, where vampires are real monsters, unfazed by any motion of morality (30 Days of Night series for example).
I saw this movie on a recommendation from this thread. I would rate it highly, but don't watch it if you want to feel warm and fuzzy Quite a good look at the lives of Chinese illegal immigrants to Japan. I probably felt it more because I'm learning Mandarin, but it was so brutal!
