Sorry to derail the thread some more but I disagree that the appeal of The Wire is it's realism. The best thing about The Wire is that within this realistic setting, there are characters and situations that are... well, awesome! Sorry for the poor vocabulary. The storytelling is amazing, fairly unpredictable as they almost never use the same ropes every other show uses. I wouldn't call the characters realistic, but they're definitely nothing like the characters you see in other series.
And to answer Archangel, I didn't like it that much either in the first season. It gets much better IMO. And it's nothing like any other cop show at all. There's only one or two characters who are genuinely interested in doing police work anyway and they don't necessarily make up most of the show. It's as much a story about the cops, as it is about the drug dealers, and about the epic cowboy who steals money from the drug dealers.

I had little faith in season 2 compared to the story depicted in season 1, this trailer proved me wrong.
I'm curious as to why you had little faith in season 2. Season one was fantastic and very true to the books. Why would you expect any less from season 2? Especially when it has a bigger budget?
The best part is, if they follow the books so closely (and they will), every single episode will be better than the last. :D For a while, at least. A long while.
Cause I read the book and I felt that the second book was not as interesting as the first one.
I'm talking on how It will render on TV, I felt more dragged during the reading, but that's just my opinion.
The third however, that's definitly gonna blow people mind.

Really? imo ACoK and ASoS are the best books in the series (so far). AGoT is my 3rd favorite, but it felt slower because so much time is spent setting up the atmosphere and introducing the world and characters.
That's interesting. IMO, the ranking is 3 > 2 > 1 = 5 > 4 Although I might be open to moving 5. Not sure where it belongs. The point is that the first 3 books only got better as they moved on.

User was warned for this post EDIT: Sorry about that. I figured it woudlnt be a spoiler since I was quoting an interview.
Let's stop talking about the books in here. Book 1 discussion I guess is okay at this point, but don't really talk about it here. Being excited for season 2 is okay, but don't say things like "I think this and this will happen and they will leave this out from the book, etc." go to the other thread for that.
You clearly completely misunderstood the season if you have Drogo as chaotic evil. Wow.
Even aside from that, one of the main concepts behind of aSoIaF is that characters are more complex than this kind of alignment thing can ever show. Watch another season and you will change your opinion on a number of the characters. At the end most will be a wishywashy "lawful chaotic goodish neutral with sometimes a touch of evil"
The first picture of Brienne of Tarth, played by Gwendoline Christie, has been published. She looks very different what i had in mind for that character, let's see how it turns out in the tv show.
I feel that you're right about Dawgi Dawg and the King. I have different opinions about all other characters, mostly being, that they can not be characterized like that, this alignments, i know them from Baldur's Gate, are to simple.
