I have yet to read the books or really look in to the TV show too much, but my friends are not exactly being the most convincing at the moment, as you can probably tell. I will probably check it out anyway- though I hope there aren't as many dongs as my friends are suggesting.
I cannot wait for this show to air! I just finished reading the books this summer and once I found out HBO was making a show I've been counting the days =D
The version that actually aired has a few extra things the one HBO uploaded immediately doesn't, such a look at the direwolf pups and a short dialogue between Jon and Tyrion. Here's the YT link:
I really wanted to see the Iron Throne, but I guess they're saving it for the full trailer or maybe even the show itself. + Show Spoiler +
During the last burst of shots at the end, I was pausing to see each one and I saw a shot of what looked to be a bloodied Ned with a rope around his neck in the the throne room. I think you can see the Throne in the back but it's very blurry.
and i didnt picture jaime lannister looking like that at all. for anyone who hasnt read the series TRUST me do that first. you'll finish the books in a month, thats how good they are
Tyrion is perfect. Bran is perfect. King Robert, Eddard, and Catelyn are a bit different from what I pictured in my head but no problems there. Cersei seems a bit "off" so I hope Lena Headey can pull it off when we see more extended scenes with her. Jaime is 100% spot on. Joffrey and Viserys look like perfect douchebags, so awesome haha. Sansa, Arya, Jon Snow, all perfect. The Hound, Gregor, also perfect.
As for Dany, I'm very happy with the actress they chose for her. It's going to be really hard for anyone to live up to the picture all the fanboys have of Dany in their mind so it's good she's a bit different. Excited to see her act with Drogo, we'll see if they can really make that relationship work, it's very key to having viewers be invested in that side of the story. Jorah seems OK too.
lol @ Carcetti (from the Wire) as Littlefinger, I'm sure he'll do a great job. Gendry looks like he's 21, wtf? Seems a bit too old for how he's described in the books. The "look" of the different places, like The North vs King's Landing vs the Dothraki areas are very cool, they feel gritty and real which is a good sign.
Old Nan "snows fall 100 feet deep" fear speech is great.
Can't wait for this to air! Long 4 months of waiting coming.

Exactly my thoughts, except that I thought the series was coming out in January, and on this new vid it says April, so I was like wtf, and then I cried a little. But seriously all the shooting is done, what kind of post-production are they gonna do for 4 months lol, the series looked great without any of it.
