Wow, at first the name didn't ring a bell, but then I realized which book series it was If I remember correctly (was a loooong time ago since I read any of them) the story is really dark and gritty, hope the series lives up to that. :D

I'm so hyped ><
But damn, I really wish GRRM will finish the next book already!

I agree she would make a good melisandre. Plus cersei shouldn't look evil, she should just be good looking and you find out over time just how much of a crazy bitch she is. Melisandre should look sortof evil and I think she will.
Robert fatter are you serious? I would rather have them find the right actor than to find the right sized actor. I imagined him being a little fatter and a little taller but it doesn't bother me in the slightest.
I would say Sean Bean doesn't look like Eddard at all but it's freaking Sean Bean so it's still a win. Jon doesn't look like what I had in mind and I'm wary of the actor. Though to be fair I don't think there's anyone who could possibly be a good fit for Jon IMO.

Watched that, "Inside the Making," and I love how the only actor who actually sounds like they've read the book is the actor for Daenerys.

She probably just read the Daenerys chapters lol
But in fairness, the interviews were pretty short so you can't determine if they've read the books or not.

Just noticed, got a little bit of tit in that pic at the top of this page XD

I thought I read somewhere that she actually was a fan of the series. She sounded quite enthusiastic about it, hoping for good things from her.
Does anyone else think Jon is a bit too pretty?

I have the same issues with the characters. With Tyrion I find it kind of ok, because it's one thing to imagine this butt-ugly gnome and identify with him and another to have him in front of your eyes and like him (for the general viewership at least). Cersei truly doesn't look evil - she almost looks good-hearted and in the interview of the recent behind the scenes trailer it appears to me that she can't identify with the role at all.. she seems a bit embarassed and expresses it as if the role was something that's not herself. This is how I imagined Cersei:
With Jon it's basically the same. I mean Eddard doesn't look like Eddard, he looks like Sean Bean. And Jon should strikingly look like Eddard. Neither did they accomplish. He has curls wtf, his face is too round, he has a beard and he looks too old. He has black hair, which is good, but Sean Bean does not have black hair. As I said.. Eddard aka Sean Bean looks more like a cuddly bear than a stern, long-faced Stark with black hair from the north. This is how Jon should look like:
![[image loading]](http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/4561/jonforpat.jpg)
Anyway, I hope they took the actors who had the max stats at acting which would be the only justification to spoil the roles like that.

As others have said before, Jon is just different from what the books tell us. The other characters seem ok, stop whining about Tyron and others being too pretty, it's a TV show, they HAVE to be pretty ... you simply cannot use (or find) actors as ugly as GRRM describes them.
Either way, the biggest shock for me were the Dothraki scenes .. I had something completely different in my head, I mean it should be hot over there, really hot. The Dothraki sea should span for miles and miles, I always imagined something close to a desert but with grasses instead of sand. These scenes gave me the impression that they were walking through some overgrown vegetation at the edge of a huge forest which lies at the foot of a mountain somewhere in Siberia.

Hmm, I remember when I first read GoT that Jon Snow didn't strike me as badass at all- he was this sulky typical fantasy hero whose chapters I liked the least. It's fine with me if his actor doesn't look 'badass' now, as long as he has the skills to pull-off Jon's development.
Actually, what I'm most interested in is how all of these actors will develop/work with their characters through the seasons (assuming it's picked up for other seasons) since they change so much, especially the younger cast. Also how the directors and scriptwriters interpreted the story for the small screen, since I think they know there's no way they can match the complexity of the books. Personally, I'd rather they change things like appearances rather than come up with something that has a spirit/theme that is totally different from the book series. I'm excited to see their take on the thing.
That being said, King's Landing in the trailer was really different from what I had imagined reading the books. I was thinking typical medieval place, not palm trees
(All this anticipation and looking at set photos, etc reminds me of when LoTR was about to come out. The guy from Flipper playing Frodo? Liv Tyler as Arwen? No Glorfindel? Legolas' eyebrows don't match with his wig!)

Goddamn I wish men still dressed/wore hair like that.
I am so psyched for this show, can't wait!!

I cannot believe most of you are complaining about how they 'look.' Let's see how it plays out before we start jumping the gun.

Anyways, gotta agree that'd be a good actress for Melisandre, but remember she's not in AGoT!
That pic for Cersei is perfect. Lena Headey looks nothing like that, unfortunately (she's not even a blonde! The whole point of the Lannister twins is their matching green eyes and blonde hair!).
See now, look at this magnificent douchebag named Jaime Lannister: + Show Spoiler + The actor for Jaime actually looks like that, except not blonde enough. But Cersei? Lena Headey looks nothing like her.
Sean Bean kinda looks like Eddard Stark though, just a little too buff imo, Starks are supposed to be gaunt: + Show Spoiler +
The two biggest concerns aside from Cersei and Littlefinger's height and Tyrion not being hideous, are going to be Arya and Jon imo.
Arya is supposed to be homely and boylike: + Show Spoiler + Whereas the actress for Arya could be considered attractive, it's a little too early to tell though.
And of course Jon is also supposed to be gaunt and resemble Eddard greatly, which of course isn't the case.

Hmmm.. I watched that preview and the only actor who I thought was not fitting his character at all was the one who plays Jon. Other than that the cast is pretty good.
|
The producers intentionally made some of the children characters older because of the fact that they were doing a TV show. Martin talked about this on his livejournal. I totally understand this change and don't have a problem with it.
|
Really, I'd prefer they get actors who can act the part even if they don't look it, rather than actors who look the part but can't play it. You know, like what happened with harry potter...

I dunno, I don't think Cersei is supposed to be evil looking at all. She's supposed to look beautiful, but maybe not "pure" or whatever. Remember she isn't evil at all she's just power hungry like everyone else, but went a bit crazy and feminazi over it. I like Sean Bean as eddard stark. Tyrion is fantastic. Jaime is pretty good.
Jon I also don't like. He needs to look plain, he is a bastard, but not like a little pussy either. He's still a baller and eddard stark's and from what I understand his "true love"'s son. The way his character turns out makes a lot of sense. Their jon looks the opposite of that
I think Arya looks fine. She should look like a little girl she just doesn't really act like one. She is still a royal daughter and should look reasonably pretty just muddy//dirty//non womanly. Bran looks really good.
The Jaime looks OK, if he can pull off the arrogance in the acting it'll be fine. Littlefinger is pretty good from that clip. Dany seems pretty good, she has to transform from uncertain girl to a more confident woman in pretty short succession though, hard to act.
I don't agree that Robert should be a jolly drunk, he's very troubled and unhappy and engages in all the drink/sex/hunting as a way of escaping from that. He looks a little ravaged which is how he should look.
Totally agree with Hot_Bid's post actually. I dunno how other people comment, but it looks like their actor fits the 12 year old uncertain girl part well, I don't know how she'll mature and I also don't know how far in the series they are going. Are they only going to cover events from the first book? Because I can't remember where every character got to. In any case I'd prefer if it stuck to 1 book and did others later, because this book is so rich is takes a lot to "get it right" and try not to leave out what makes all the characters so dense/layered and to be able to see everything from their perspective to change your opinion.
I really can't wait.

Arya too attractive?!
![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/46G0b.jpg) WTF?
You guys are getting silly with these complaints. You're honestly more concerned with hair and eye color than how good the acting is gonna be? GRRM is involved in the project and has worked in television before. He understands what has to be changed and compromised to effectively make the transition. If Jon's hair isn't an issue for him you probably shouldn't worry about it too much.

In very few TV series or movies do characters who are intended to be related actually look related, barring the rare instance where actually cast relatives. Given that everyone imagines the characters somewhat differently, it's impossible to get actors that look exactly right. Oh no, Tyrion isn't ugly enough, instead we're stuck with the BEST DWARF ACTOR ON PLANET EARTH. I mean, I could complain that Ice isn't long enough by at least a foot, but certain compromises are made for practicality and it doesn't undermine the integrity of the story in the slightest. The series will be carried (or fail to be), based on the quality of the acting and writing, not by the precision of someone's hair color.
