An example would be Arya and the faceless men. In theory you could expect them to not be ok with her just disappearing, but right now there won't be any of that in the show. Yes the story has to end at some point, but you can end it with a complex status quo in mind. The show just simplifies every single state though which makes it highly predictable and also illogical tbh. Some people are fine with that because they simply want an ending, others are not because the show lacks narrative depth that way. Some "unique" review: (fanboys of the show will hate it ![]() Preston Jacobs is the man. He has hands down the best Asoiaf channel on youtube. Content quality went down a bit this year but his new Night's Watch videos with the ravens bs are pretty good! In terms of conspiracy theories quality this guy shreds Alex Jones to bits. His videos really enhanced my appreciation for GRRM's work (read the got series only once a few years back) and sparked some really cool discussions with my friends who are fans of the series. Watching his content also shows how HBO (had to) cut a bunch of loose ends in the last seasons (Dorne being a prime example; his series on the Dornish master plan is pretty dope)

- Dragonstone - The faeces/food mashup and the ubermaester - Jorah. But his predicament raises more questions: was he locked up, or did he voluntarily go into quarantine? - Aegon looks like a much more colorful character now. Last season he was just a guy who suddenly turned up and was super-powerful. - The Hound is a much more complete character. Pity they didn't show what he saw in the fire...fx budget? Things I didn't like: - Ed effing Sheeran. Not that he did badly, since I don't think he did. At least he didn't start singing. But the one way to instantly kill all immersion is to introduce a well-known face in the middle of a story. - Dany on her boat. She seemed to spend the whole journey across the sea standing on deck in formation. Who does that? We know she's the leader, no need to constantly remind us by putting the rest of the characters just behind her. - Lyanna Mormont is a badass, we know by now. Even the badass face she puts on isn't that convincing anymore. - I liked the scene with Walder Frey. I took me a couple seconds to make the link with Arya's skill, and it picks up nicely from last season. But why did they pick cartoon-poison? Seriously, it reminded me of this:

Another good example would have been dorne, they simply killed off house martell and pretended that all the other houses would now for whatever reason follow ellaria and the sandsnakes. It basically happened in every single arc tbh, it's a vast difference from earlier seasons where every arc was a lot more complex. And yes they decided to do this so they can end the story in 13 episodes, i get that. But at the same time you also have to understand that this might disappoint people who watched GoT because of the complexity and not because of deaths, tits and dragons. It's a shame too because things like the Dorne plotlines in the book were a good measure of adding twists and surprises later in the series in a few different ways.

I want intense drama and betrayal by/of all the main characters and very painful (for the audience) deaths save the perceived winner the Queen of Dragons. Then I want some pleb to shank her in the neck and the Dragons go wild and burn the whole world (including the white walkers [who we find out to be fighting for a good cause]) and humans live scattered and in constant fear Reign of Fire style.

I know we're meant to think that Littlefinger is a strategic mastermind but I think that he has a pretty huge blind spot when it comes to Catelyn and now Sansa. I would absolutely believe that he thought he could do some kind of elaborate rescue of Sansa from the Boltons, win her heart, marry her for the North and come out with the Vale + North + possibly Riverlands (psycho baby Arryn is in line for Tully succession).

Edit: Kwark is right that everyone is flawed in this series. Littlefinger is not exception.

I don't remember if he is lord of Harrenhal and technically lord of the Riverlands in the show as well. I'm assuming his plan is trying to get the Vale, Riverlands and North as his base. He was promised Harrenhal as part of a scheme by Tyrion to expose Cercei's spy (which was Pycell). He never actually got Harrenhal. He did assume command of the Vale tho when lady Arryn took a dive. Since he married her just before.
