This tournament of power surely is a challenge for proper story-writing. The last episode, I think it was acceptable. But at some point there needs to be a reason to care about who is fighting. Especially if it is someone not from universe 7 fighting against someone that also isn't from universe seven.

I also wonder what story-writing technical would be the correct way to resolve all this. Really erase 7 universes and all 70 new characters they recently introduced and had to try really hard on for the audience to care about them? I also don't see why Zen-o-sama needs these universes to be gone. I do see some high priest manipulating Zen-o angle.

Down the road, I also see some angles of someone not-Goku, not-Vegeta having adventures in any of these new universes.

This level of world-building is kind of new to Dragon Ball, and I think it is pretty ok. Maybe this is the start of maturing up the story to adjust to the now more mature audience. But maybe that is wishful thinking on my part.

Yeah it wouldn't make much sense to kill off all the new characters, at the same time you have to create a scenario where the audience still feels like something important changed. There needs to be impact, you cannot just go the obvious way of goku wishing that nobody gets erased.

I also believe that there basically needs to be an adventure arc after the tournament. You basically have to use all the new universes/characters somehow. I still think/hope that the universes will be merged one way or another. That way you still establish consequences to the tournament without wasting all the potential of new characters. But yeah we will see.

I must also say that some new characters have a certain charm. For example Lilibeu seemed quite powerful at first, able to make blasts that that wolf guy had problems with. Then she had some silly failure forgetting to fly, only to cheer on her team later. Then her nervous laugh on the GodPad. All somehow makes it all quite human. And that without making her absurdly feminine (like for example Blizzard always does with every character ever since WC3, which is completely mind-numbing, It is ironic that a Japanese anime can be refreshing and enlightening in that respect).

Furthermore, Quitela's laugh is quite entertaining. And Beerus apparently fearing Quitela, who actually seems quite silly, is more entertaining than expected, considering it should be amusing at best, silly at worst. Whis mocking Beerus for not responding to Quitela mocking him was pretty funny. Then, Beersus freely conceding with a boku, nigate nan da yo, aitsu.' was pretty funny, I must admit.

What will probably happen is Universe 7 wins and then Zeno's like what destroy the other universes rule? And it was just some BS thing the Grand Priest came up with to incentivize the fighters to do their best or some BS.

Or Universe 11 wins. Everyone else is DELETED. Dragonball GT is also erased. And as a cherry on top we get a Pride Troopers show! (won't ever happen, but I can hope damnit!)

pretty much. I was hoping to see Goku/Vegeta and some other fighters power up at least but they all stayed at base form. Also, 18 fighting the universe 11 fighter and staying even etc... The whole goku thing was so silly. Ya, he's going to get knocked off and Blue'd at the last second -_-

I do like the idea that they are starting to lean towards the manga interpretation of blue. Goku was incomparably stronger than his base form. It puts things in a better context too regarding how Goku handled that GoD energy ball thing that Freeza shrugged off. Goku and Freeza both enormously rely on transformations.

Yes, it tends to show Goku needs to be in an okay state before being able to transform to Blue. So based on that logic, and the fact he can control his ki and use little, he should remain SSB preemptively pretty much all the time. But that would deprive us of the awesome transform music ;p

Kinda disappointed that he didn't respect his own son's leadership - 'you can be the leader... of the B-teamers' seemed to be the message here.

Saiyans are Saiyans, this is literally the only possible way it would work. Anyone who thought otherwise just didn't get the entire "we will endanger everything just to stretch our limits" that they have done in literally every arc ever.

Well there is still hope that the author might give some form of character development to the main characters. That's a sign of quality, but yeah hoping for that to happen with dragonball is probably naive.

They didn't have the God of Destruction hurling instructions at them in 'every arc ever' - that's been shown to be quite effective on even Vegeta, and certainly I found 17's self-confidence out of place. Also, Goku - talking about him specifically - has been shown to litterally be willing to die for his son's sake, so I'm not quite sure we have the same view of precedents. I will certainly give you that Freeza is not known for teamwork.

Ranks were always gonna break down, but at least a one episode appearance of order would have been nice. Between that and the 'whoops, I almost fell' moment, Goku looks more boneheaded now than ever.

I agree with LL. Goku has been willing to sacrifice everything since he let Vegeta go in the Saiyan saga. Their pride is a defining characteristic of the Saiyan race. It's not ever going to change at this point

I'm more in the Red Viper camp - we've seen impressive (by Saiyan standards) character development from Vegeta, for instance prioritizing Bulla's birth over training. Pride and family are essential, antagonistic themes of Super at this point, and development could be as simple as swinging the pendulum the other way a little. If Prince of Saiyans Vegeta can do it, so can Goku, it's just he refuses to grow up IMHO.

Then again, characters in the show refuse to do what's best for them. Gohan for instance, as soon as he got his Mystic powers back, should've had the Super Saiyan God ritual performed on him, 'different way than Blue' or not.

I just keep telling myself that Saiyan strength is inversely correlated with their iq while watching the show. It makes the story more logical.
