Explain Nappa.
nappa was a genius, he knew he didnt have the power to stop the incoming threats of buu other universe destroying beings thus he followed vegeta pretending to be a dumb lackey but instead hoping that his sayian prince was the one to save them all from frieza. But when he encounter goku he needed to push goku to his limit sensing the overwhelming potentail beneath him also to give vegeta a rival so they would both try to out do each other. So he had to play the final villain of his story and sacrifice himself.
Basically argues that Zamasu is the Mary Sue of anime villains with a generic motivation, stupid plot escalation, and too much anticlimactic stupidity. I can certainly sympathize; this arc really dropped the ball in the last part.
I absolutely agree with the video here. Zamasu had potential, but it was never realized. The arc was mostly about the mystery of goku black, there really wasn't a lot of other motivation to care about it and then the reveal was mediocre. I don't expect dragonball super to be on the lvl of other things like HxH, but i expect it to be on the level of dbz. Hopefuly the tournament can deliver (and set up an interesting next arc)

I think people understatement just how had zamasu and his arc really were. A tragedy.
The ending certainly left me feeling empty. Like, what the fuck was all this hype and buildup for when you're just going to end it in the least satisfying way possible?
It really started to fuck up when Black Goku did the scythe bs. I could forgive many missed opportunity because DB was never the epitome of deep storytelling; it was more like a semi-mindless but still fun show to watch when I need to waste many hours. But that ending? Ugh. Words cannot describe.
You are saying DB was never deep, well yeah ofc not. But the narrative still worked more or less. With super i don't have the feeling that it works well at all. Like we are 100 episodes in and at the end of the day we didn't have a really enjoyable arc yet, with a villain we care for (i am not even asking for a villain with an understandable motivation) and the needed seriousness. I think that's my biggest problem with super actually, it lacks the darker tone a lot. It feels more like dragonball even though the scope got even bigger than in dbz. I think that's a problem
I think what we have is "George Lucas syndrome" here with DBS and even with Buu arc DBZ. These creative types with great ideas have many, many stupid ideas and there needs to be some asshole in the editing staff keeping them in line - or else the end product is going to look like Zamasu arc ending or the SW prequels.

I still don't see the problem with the original funimation dub. Sounds good to me and I like parts of it better than Kai for sure (and vice versa). But I guess I am the weird one as a lot of people say it sounds like shit. To me something has to sound really really bad for me to think that way, guess I am lucky that way.
