Him blowing away that thing Goku struggled with makes me think Akira toriyama decided to keep him untouchable to Goku for now. Goku was also in his base form. Of course he was going to struggle with it. We've talked about this before. And Beerus is seemingly always at full strength. He doesn't do crazy screams that take 3-4 episodes to power up. He just powers up. And Vegito. Let's not talk about him please.

The exception proved that there can be no violations of the rule in the future, or else.

DBS character development focuses a lot on letting characters do things they couldn't or didn't before. Krillin overcoming fears, Goku presumably not accidentally throwing fights, Gohan finally getting serious and feeling a thirst to overcome Goku. Gohan never had that thirst before. He was always basically just doing what Piccolo, Goku or Chichi wanted him to. His entire existence was just his parent figures designing him. Now that he has a family and seems to grasp what it means for his daughter to be erased, Gohan is mad at himself for getting soft and seeks to return to strength and position. To me, this feels like Gohan finally becoming his true Saiyan self, rather than only him being a slave to his loyalty to his family. But both are contributors. Gohan specifically seeks to overthrow Goku as #1, not just protect the people he loves. To me, this entertains the idea of Gohan having a break out moment where he finds himself as a Saiyan through the desperate situation that is the ToP.

Beerus ended up being way more powerful, Freeza ended up blowing up Earth, Zen-oh had to be the one to beat Zamasu...None of these are Goku saving the day. Goku has continued to be a leader, but ultimately, things are not going as planned or would be predicted based on previous DBZ stuff. I'm 100% sure universe will be erased, but with the wish they get from the super dragon balls at the end they'll just wish them back. Gohan was suppoused to replace Goku as the protagonist in DBZ but Toriyama changed his mind in the end, maybe he'll end up being great? Also lets remember super takes place before the ending of DBZ, so maybe they will jump to that and have something to do with Uub? Maybe Toriyama will make his own version of GT haha.

In Z we had arcs like Cell, where Goku was absent the whole arc, and only appear at the end, and didn't even defeat the final boss. In the Sayan invasion arc, we got a lot from the struggle vs Nappa, including Piccolo sacrifice. And after Goku was out from using Kaioken4 the spotlight went again to the others, that ended up defeating Vegeta. In Freeza we got a lot as well besides Goku. The whole 3 way scramble for the Dragonballs before Gyniu force arrived was great, and the Freeza battle before Goku was healed was great as well. And Buu was pretty varied as well.

I think we're well past the point of DBS ending with the ending of DBZ. It just won't happen at this point IMO. And it shouldn't. DBS has taken its own shape and it is a good shape. There is no reason to accommodate the DBZ ending.
